- Cycling is an ability that lets you pay a cost and discard a card from your hand to draw another card. This gives a lot of extra versatility to a card, allowing you to simply get rid of it and draw something more useful if it ends up being dead in a certain matchup, or if you just really need to find a specific card. As a result, most cycling cards have their overall power level decreased significantly to compensate. Still, Cycling cards have shown up at some point in basically every format, and today, we’re going to go over the best cards with cycling ever printed. Just a note, since im having throat probelms, I have a guest speaking taking over for me today.

It's a gimmick on RUclips. Sometimes its funny. The mispronounciations are super deliberate like Easter Eggs. It drives comments and views I think.

@@caseykiesling4348 their "about" section says "highly edited"... but there are often typos in the slideshow, mispronunciations, ... and basically write the script on the slides. If they were giving a presentation in a class, they'd get a C.

It isn't just the pronunciation, it's the insanity of the inflection in a lot of sentences. If this was actually a human speaking, they have a disturbing way of doing so
Where I draw the line is how nearly every video they just say the wrong effect or stats that are clearly on the card. I guess it gets people commentating but DAMN, I just don't think they read

Street Wraith is going to end up seeing way more play in Rowan Scion of War decks. I would also assume someone is going to make a Rakdos Death's Shadow using Rowan.
I honestly really like Yidaro Wandering Monster and want to see that being played more. I played it in a standard mono-red on Arena and it was a beast. Got it out a few times on turn 4 with Irencrag Feat but it did work on its own because of the cycling.

The reason for Legion was pretty obvious: it was an interesting gimmick to develop around.
And similar gimmicks are overall positive to see what can or can't be done with the game as a whole. Even when they don't work, the lessons learned from them: Epic was terrible, but proved that big spells should look to functionally close the game, banding showed that keeping pieces on the board was better than getting a bigger beatstick, and so on.
Legion was a first step toward using creatures as instant-speed interaction, and the idea of using from-hand abilities (even instant speed ones) carried on and expanded beyond creatures, with is legacy still felt in keywords like channel to this day.

I just remember curator because of its ability to infinite with that one scry partner commander. Get your hand to 8, discard at end of turn down to 7, triggers that you draw one, repeat endlessly. Try not to deck out.
Domain Ramp with the triomes and Atraxa, Grand Unifier has been one of the top decks in standard for a while now! It got kinda pushed out at early Ixalan tournaments, but thats likely due to lots of hate for it. The deck also plays another cycling card that adds a basic land and gains you 3 life, mostly for aggro matchups.

i like Decree of Annihilation in a gimmick Barren Glory deck. but obviously not "serious" playable.

cycle 5RR - destroy all lands.
(Barren Glory, Enchantment 4WW - At the beginning of your upkeep, if you control no permanents other than Barren Glory and have no cards in hand, you win the game.)
I use decree in my superfriends commander deck, usually they scoop afterwards

i have two decrees to talk about lol .. the first yes it may be a touch hefty on the cost , Decree of Justice the second hefty on the flak you get for just having it in your deck , Decree of Annihilation.

I guess the original printing of the decrees or any of the scourge cycling cards are gonna be ignored. An oldie but a goodie was Slice and Dice 6 mana to deal 4 dmg to everything or 3 mana to cycle and deal 1 dmg to everything. Or the Decrees which had wildly powerful but expensive cycle costs. Decree of annihilation which if cast for its 10 mana removed everything but enchants or if cycled blew up all lands.

As always, good video, but I felt my blood pressure rise a notch every time I heard the word "gehm." Suffice to say, I had to take a short break after finishing #10.
The fact that Shark Typhoon neatly divides the community into a side that sees it as literal proof of MTG's impending demise and another that sees it as incredibly based clearly shows that the community is too big for its own good. There is only room in any community for one of those factions and the other should gracefully pack up and move on.

@@leetri Importantly, it doesnt say "Basic Land - Wastes", just "Basic Land", indicating that Wastes is not a type of Basic Land. Forest is a type of Basic Land, and all forest cards say "Basic Land - Forest".
