    I knew Demonic Tutor was going to be the winner. How? I play Yugioh, not Magic only know a little about Magic. And over there, we use the term "Tutor" to mean search. When the card is so iconic of the mechanic that it transcends the game it came from, that's how you know it's powerful.

      @@XenobladeXSupremacyIn my opinion beast within does fit in green since green can destroy lands, destroy artifacts and enchantments and remove creatures. The only thing it breaks is the fact that green never directly destroys creatures. Green has cards like tail swipe which let creatures fight or cards like lignify or kenrith's transformation which let your opponent keep a different creature like the 3/3 basically. You could therefore say that even the creature removal part is not completely broken.

    Demonic Tutor's effect is nutty. If there was a Yugioh card that forced you to banish your whole hand face down and skip your next Main Phase, but let you search any card, people would probably still run that card at three until it got banned.

      @@lucianofrancesco4742 yeah but you can get quite literally ANY extender, starter, ender, whatever it is you need for it. you can go -5 but get your entire board setup off of it, kinda like how left arm gives decks who rely on that 1 spell a fuckton of advantage because they got the 1 thing they need

    • @blahblah-fw5vb
      @blahblah-fw5vb Год назад +1

      @@Nanachiiky I think the fact that left arm offering is a terrible card and it requires only half the resources an omni-tutor would need says it all really. If they have a single ash blossom (33% odds) and you're going first, you instantly lose the game, not including any other hand trap. If they have any omni negate and you're going second you instantly lose the game. So you're hoping you're going first and they don't have ash and that your one card is equal to their six. What card would ever meet that requirement.

    The best thing about creativity as opposed to other polymorph decks is the ability to put two things into play as opposed to only 1. Because griselbrand is legendary you can’t put two into play so archon is typically better in that way

  • @DragnSlayrYGO

    Another thing to note, fatal push was released as an Uncommon which meant it was easily obtainable. Yawgmoth's Bargain and Yawgmoth's Will are both incredible cards (particularly the latter). They have seen a huge amount of play, even in the eternal formats. Still, as unfortunate as it may seem, they don't see that much play any more. Yawgmoth's Will only sees play in fairly fringe combo decks (some storm variants). Even most combo decks played these days (e.g., Doomsday) don't play Yawgmoth's Will. The truth is that these days there's access to better ways of setting up combos, which require less or setup or are more consistent.

Unless the cards are word-for-word the exact same card (eg: corrupted conviction and village rites or llanowar elves and elvish mystic) u can definitely and should include both because their effects are almost equally strong and are both more powerful cards than some of the cards at the bottom of the list like fatal push and bolas's citadel.

    Yawgmoth's Will and Yawgmoth's Bargain should definitely be on this list. I'm not gonna quibble order, but those two are grievous omissions. I'm not sure that Dark Confidant makes the absolute, true top 10 handed down from the gods, but it surely should be in over Fatal Push. Then, I also have to mention Demonic Consultation, Vampiric Tutor and Imperial Seal, given Demonic Tutor's entry and place here. I'm not saying those should be above it or on par, or even that necessarily they have to make the list if it does, but, you gotta have the conversation. (And personally I really dislike Imperial Seal because it's a sorcery; if I can't Vampiric Tutor on the opponent's end step, what's the point? But I have to respect that it's banned in Legacy and restricted in Vintage for good reasons.) There are probably some others I'm forgetting here. Oh and Contract from Below is... I mean, it's never actually cast for black mana. So you can argue whether it should be on the "best black cards" list. So I think it's fine to omit from the main list, so long as you have it as an honorable mention (explaining its disqualification) at the start.

      It would be more like a reverse Maxx C challenge, seeing if you can self-TK with it, because you yourself are it's only possible target. It's actually really hard to get a direct Maxx C Challenge in mtg, because repeatable draw-effects are generally optional/controllable and forcing your opponent to draw out with your own cards isn't so much a Maxx C challenge, because it's more proactively your win con usually. The only example I can think of when it comes to forcing an opponent to uncontrollably draw their entire deck due to their own effects is against dinosaurs. If they have an Elemental Bond, a Polyraptors and a Marauding Raptors, dealing a single damage to the Polyraptors is enough to send them into an uncontrollable spiral of creating Polyraptor tokens, which upon immediately taking damage from Marauding Raptors create more Polyraptors, all the while Elemental Bond forces him to draw cards until he decks out.

    Push, Thoughtseize, and Demonic Tutor are all powerful, but not one of them is broken. Tutor I suppose could be on the list, but not that high. Meanwhile, not having Yawgmoth's Will on this list is inexcusable. If you don't think it's #1, which it is, it still has to be top 3. Having Necropotence and not mentioning Yawgmoth's Bargain (which could share a slot like you did with the Tutors) is embarassing, since it costs more but has none of the other downsides. Finally, Contract from Below is insanely nutty and must be mentioned, even if you consider it not the most powerful because no one plays for ante. Discard your hand and draw 7 for 1 black mana? C'mon.

    • @JD-gk7eh
      @JD-gk7eh Год назад +1

      I agree with you. DT isn't really broken. "Is the best card in my deck still good if it costs 2 more mana?" For the most part, that answer is no, but it depends on the format. If you're getting a game-winning combo piece, then it is. If you're getting a 4-mana creature, it's not. Tutors increase linearity and consistency of decks, not sheer power. Put Necro even in a middling deck (play it fairly) and you get so ahead on cards you probably win. DT for a middling card in a middling deck and you still don't do much.

The instant speed of vamp tutor makes the card so much better in a great many situations.
