I'm from USA and need to use up my 15,000 qantas points...I thought might as well upgrade to business class since I can't use those points for anything else and not sure when I'll be back in Australia again. what other airlines from Sydney to Melbourne do you recommend for business class?
If you have the points to burn, just do it. Otherwise if you're paying cash for the flight, look into Rex or Virgin Australia. Rex has competitive pricing for Business between the two cities. All are 737, except for the occasional Qantas A330 which is a big step up (obviously).
@@LeisureFlyer ok thanks! which one do you prefer Rex or Virgin Australia? I have Qantas Business Sydney to Melb but Melb to Syd I will purchase a different one way ticket. Do you have any videos on these? thanks a ton!
@@TennisComplete honestly just pick whichever is cheapest. It's a very quick flight and the Rex planes are literally old Virgin Australia ones, so it's the same thing in terms of the seat. Technically VA does have a "new" Business available but no idea how many planes its actually on so far. Service wise, doesn't make a difference. It's just a 1hr flight you'll be fine on either one. Personally I would support Rex as they try to provide some competition!
Great video review. I was contemplating upgrading, but I might just sit in Economy. That spoon is disgusting. The whole airline is just in a state of decline.
Cheers, thanks for watching! QF is in a real mess atm.. will be interesting to see how they come out of it and win back customer trust and loyalty. How long is your flight / what route? Have you considered Rex if it's something within the Syd/Mel/Bne triangle?
Considering this option for Brisbane to Perth so watched the video to see how far the seat reclines as I cannot sleep in upright position. Still wondering.
Yeah, definitely. I've noticed Rex is pretty competitive at around $299 sometimes, which might be worth it if you need to do some work or something. But Qantas like $700 forget it...
It really annoys when me I get cutlery that isn't clean! How hard is it for the people working at the catering facilities to do a visual inspection before wrapping up the spoon, knives forks? Or do these low paid staff simply just don't care?
Maybe there are too many pieces to notice? But I watched a Dennis Bunnik video about how Qatar washes their items and it seems pretty in depth. Not sure what happened here. Anyway thanks for watching :)
Just not worth the points, even on a flex ticket for 10k points is iffy. Only reason I've upgraded domestically lately is because work has canned any international travel since last year so I'm just amassing points via a CC. I flew exact same plane same seat from BNE MEL last weekend, your food was so much better it's crazy (spoon aside lol).
Yeah not a fan of the Qantas upgrade system tbh. I have no status so I'd be well down the pecking order anyway, and then I'd maybe pay extra for a Flex ticket for no reason. Either way.. glad I don't have to do too many domestic trips like this. Most of my flights are usually for international trips.
Old fashioned yet pretty nice! I’ve only ever done business class on virgin but now I’m tempted to try Qantas too. Great video!
Thank you for watching!

See if you can get an A330, that will have lie flat seats in business.
I can't imagine flying Sydney to Perth for 5 hours in these seats 😦
Look for the A330 flights if possible! There are usually a couple every day for the coast to coast flights.
Hard to find the value in business class on these short flights. Rather save the $$ (or points) for longer trips.
