Nice piece of offset turning with a 3 jaw chuck. This is ok for " dolly mixture" (small) ,high tolerance work like an ornament for the mantlepiece If you're doing larger and / or low tolerance high precision work ie for a cam to creat linear reciprocating movemnt from rotational movement with a precisely measured stroke, like a crankshaft for a compressor, you would use a 4 jaw chuck, a precision adjustable off setting tailstock for the tail running centre and a DTI (clock gauge in old money) with a good machinist achieving a
+/- 0.01mm tolerance (0.000397 inch) Ultra fine tolerance ( microns) and finnish would be achieved using an offset capable cylindrical grinding machine.
Good video demonstrating geometrical abilities of manual lathe work.❤
