This man is so passionate about mulch 😂😂😂 I respect the passion for your craft brother
Mulch is life.
Anyone that’s passionate about something deserves respect. I’m passionate about champagne and cocaine.
I'm getting ready to mulch for the first time. Although I am not re-mulching, this was still helpful for adding mulch in the future. Thank you for sharing your passion.
Just got a task to go help mulching someone's garden, this helps alot thanks
2:19 "I just don't want to see You People making it higher..." LOL John's not messing around here.
JCleary20091 lol I was like wtf is he really taking this that serious lol
"you people" is always hilarious esp when describing mulch LoL!
So many people in my neighborhood love having the mulch volcano around trees on their property and surprisingly some have “professional” landscapers.
Even though I live in Hong Kong where nobody has a yard-- I still found this useful!
Thank you for talking about the mulch volcano. So many trees and shrubs are mulched that way and I feel so sorry for them!
Hi john. I showed my friend Eric Bates your video. He really enjoyed it. He used to toil all summer long with mulch and mulch problems. He is doing much better with it now. Tha ks

Thank you so much for this video! I have to mulch a tree that is very important to a little girl and I was worried about doing it incorrectly and possibly killing the tree but now I know how to set it up and why, so thank you :)
Kinda wholesome low-key good video man
Thank you brother.
This is great, simple advice. Especially rule 3 which will help build soil over time. I practice sheet mulching so my mulch depths start off much deeper but the mulch is a lot fluffier than bark/wood mulch (mostly straw) I will implement #3 this season when I reapply my mulch :)
When I mulch a garden for the first time I'm closer to 3" as well. That's the one time I go 'heavy' to choke out weeds. It sounds like that's what you do with sheet mulching too. Atleast once a year I come across a garden with around six inches of wood mulch in it and that's just no good for your landscape. Thanks for commenting.
Thank you!
Thank you, very helpful!
Did the job this afternoon. Your advice make it fast and simple. Thanks again!
Thanks man.
Nice job!
awesome intro
Thank you 👍
Thank you so much! I appreciate skilled people who are willing to share their knowledge. Can I ask you what if anything you use to keep weeds from coming through the mulch? Tarp? Weed killer? If so, how concerned are you about existing plants? Also, when you apply pine straw, do you generally apply over established straw or do you rake out old straw that is covered with leaves? I'm just now getting started good in the business after teaching 17 years and I enjoy the outside work so much more! Thank you again, John!
I just started my own landscaping company. Been landscaping since i was in 7th grade.
You are a bot at mulching
P
Just saw your response to kitsurubami questions! Thanks!
john thank you very much for the quick response i will look for cedar bark mulch and if i have any other questions ill be sure to ask you sir thanks!
Good helpful hints. Never thought to use a "garden weasel" to loosen up last year's mulch. Could be that my big-azz mulch would flood away during a storm and there is hardly anything left by next season.
Thank you
Brilliant .
Ty for the video
great info! I feel confident now to take up the red mulch and replace it with Scott's black mulch. This will be the first garden project I have ever done. Thanks
Thank you❣️
thanks
Awesome. You know your stuff and this was to the point! thank you soooo much! :D
Thank you for sharing your knowledge ! Great video
I just moved into my house and looking to re mulch. Previous home owners had the main tree in the front yard covered in mulch...i will be removing it all away asap. Thank you!
I have heard this before of only going about 2-3 inches deep with mulch into your flowerbeds. Hearing it from another pro sounds refreshing because some gardeners either lay too much on or not enough. The 2nd tip was definitely great to learn because that's a mistakes I've made before. Thanks for the tips John.
