I watch this periodically. I love his home so much. The homes architects create for themselves are often their best works because they are labors of love for their families.
Absolutely stunning design work. Extraordinary in its integration into the landscape. Beautiful contrasting materials, interlocking volumes, elegant lighting effects, light and shadows, just spectacular work. New to me and very pleased to find it here today. Thanks for posting.
A piece of architecture like this is impossible to comprehend by this kind of video. Music selection for this video was good. Goes nice with the dramatic design
if i could have any house. I'd love Ray Kappe's house, just the spaces and that it sits in a forest of trees...with lots of light. The perfect multi-functional space, each with it's own section
I remember watching this when I had creative blocks back in college a couple years ago. I miss all the dark early mornings I spent sitting in a cafe taking out my plates and listening to this video, so awesome.
We are currently building our own house, heavily inspired by Ray Kappe. I had hoped to show him the end result. Unfortunately it’s too late for that. RIP Mr Kappe.
It's so perfect, amazing way to mix a house as a true home, right in the forest. Beautiful. Just one thing, how much is for gardening expenses monthly?
Great peek into the Kappe lifestyle, thank you. The roller cover over the pool to keep out the leaves sounds good. Wonder if the leaves would bind the mechanism though? 🤓
I got his books the filming is too short though & his impeccable interior aesthetics wasn't featured that much especially the details fascinating contemporary architect 💖👍👌
What happened? From a beautiful place and materials and environments... I find myself watching a feeling of horror movie? The soundtrack, the voice, the still plan on the owner's face, the walk of tiredness of the old people... bbbrrrrr
You need to put more up lifting music's for these amazing architectures. With your music they look very depressing and that's a shame cause the architecture is beautiful
I didn't like how this film was composed. I feel like when you use another medium it should add something that is specific to that medium - in this case, the ability to capture 3-dimensional movement within a space. This was basically just a series of still photographs. Maybe that works for some people, but I really feel it was a missed opportunity :/
This music is not fitting at all. With such a beautiful, peaceful building, this music becomes so distracting from both the lightness of the building and the voice of the architect. The next scene should be Oedipus' revelation of his sins with this kinda music going on. sheeeiiittt

yes i totally agree, the music is so un-matching, i was just going to make a comment on that, bUT saw your thread instead, so decided to add my comment here.

0:17 isn't that dangerous for old people to climb stairs without handrail guard?? don't say for art sake until you get your relative died because of that stupid stairs without handrails.

I love this house - the light and dark spaces, the open flow, and the coziness at the same time.
I find these sequences frustratingly short...
GEMMA Didit I was getting excited then it ends.SMH
I am speechless... the perfection.

I hear him in a lecture in SCI-Arc and he is the most incredible inspiring person.

I had the pleasure of walking through this property during a tour of homes in the 1990’s, which included the Eames House… a truly memorable day.
What a grace, what a beauty of character, both house and owner.
RIP, your work will be remembered

Do you have any pictures online of the completed house?
ooh i’m interested in seeing that!
Stunning design and great use of light!
As well the video captures perfectly the essence of the house.
i the music fits the house since its dark and surrounded with trees
Please, PLEASE upload this series on 1080p (or 4K), and for god's sake make them longer!
His place is so beautiful like im in a psychological horror art house type of film can't explain but that's what the vibe his house is giving to me
A good example of Great Architecture!
A masterpiece, my favorite house.
Simplemente maravillosa. Un sitio idílico

This is my dream home
Delightful house and ambience. No music might have been better.
Élément troublant le poêle à bois et la beauté du lieu merci
I love the panelling and louvres 💕💕
Absolutely dreamy...magical. So artful. Video is way too short.
One day i'm gonna have a house like that. Design every inch of it.
RIP Mr Kappe. This home says class.
So cozy!!! Just amazing
Such a sick interior layout
1991Q sick is not a word I’ve seen in any of these videos’ comments, but its the exact word that came to mind for this one.

You all find the most gorgeous homes. keep it up!
This house looks amazing but video was so frustrating. It’s super short and barely showed anything.
just wow
Get back to nature with a visit to American architect Ray Kappe’s LA hideaway, complete with private natural spring

Amazing design. Only problem is the lack of good natural light. I guess the location.......
Incredible talent / inspiration
RIP Ray Kappe!
Loved this unfortunately couldn’t hear what he was saying because of the loud music🤦🏼♀️☹️

fabulous!! reminds me of FL Wright
Madd Scientist Fallingwater though exceptional doesn’t seem as all consuming as this design.

Wonderful house. These short documentaries about architecture are really nice but all their background music is just too loud and overly dramatic.

It came to the end, and I said aloud, "they hardly showed any of the house in any real context." My soul screamed so loud that it came from my mouth.
this series has somehow managed to create the most boring short films on the most interesting people ever, I don't know why.
Okay
My dream house...
What's the name of the background music?
Absolutely gorgeous
Does anybody knows the name of the musician for this piece!? I almost sure his Argentinian, but I can’t remember his name🤯
