This is one of the greatest series that is true to architecture. Architects telling stories that explain the narrative of their work in a clear vision. Nothing shallow and “artsy” like what a lot of architecture videos have become. Bravo team
I could listen to Laura describe her design choices and thought process all day. Such a clever plan and use of a derelict site. I would move here in a flash.
Great interview. You should get a Netflix show, as any “design” show at the moment sounds (and looks) like a joke. It would be amazing to bring real creatives to the masses. 😊
Thank you! This is a truly magical home, with a palette of materials and thoughtful arrangement of space and light that just made me sigh aloud in delight. Thank you so much for showing us through, and for sharing some of the considerations behind the choices and design, and thank you again for this series, which is one of my favourite things on RUclips.
Absolutely wonderful ! A delight to the senses, heart, spirit, light, eyes, growth and dreamtime....... May the sweetness of life continue to unfold with infinite vision and the delightful freedoms to CREATE......
My apartment is the same cross laminated timber and I can say it’s sooooo calming. It just brings a sense of peace and nature in. The walls are drywall and the ceilings and supports are all timber which I feel like is a fabulous mix.
She mentions that someone stated it looks unfinished on the outside and I find that a problem too. Whilst I understand she wants to keep some integrity and truth with regard to the exterior, I still believe there should be some integrity and consideration to the surrounding properties too. I adore the interior, the garden and her excellent ideas for different spaces/ areas within a room. I'd certainly be happy living in this space.
“I thot it was a nutcracker…” a cracking line which was passed on rather swiftly… Jokes aside, love the video, the house and the owners integrity to their beliefs, a lot of thought gone into it and executed very well… Tremendous!
Enjoyed your explanation of the Treehouse build. The only thing I would have done (and it is so minor)The sliding doors would have slid all the way into the inner wall to Laura's right, total disappearance. Keep the outside of the building as is, it is-wonderful.
Astonishing home. So brilliantly crafted. Love The Modern house episodes are so interesting to dive into. I rewatched them all, time and time again. Come and see our home to. Decorator husband who build and decorated everything indoors our 3 story townhouse. I’m the artist and the gardener. Thank you :)
In the U.S Fancy Butt Shingles are common and called "Fish Scale" shingles or " Scallop" shingles. When a basic wood shingle is cut in a special decorative way some call it "Fancy Cut" shingle. Maybe this is where Fancy "Butt" came from?
Genuinely curious here - so if someone would be so kind as to enlighten me I’d be eternally grateful. That opening shot alone has me wondering how you keep the place clean without either having to go minimalist and hide all that stuff away or spend half your day dusting etc. (or fork out for a near full time maid).
Space, light, materials, nature, and decoration are elements of design, not principles. Elements are the building blocks and principles are the rules/guidelines, such as balance, contrast, rhythm, and proportion. If you propose to educate a general audience about design, then the vocabulary of design matters.
Hi; for a house built from zero really lacks of design and I am not talking the "wow" factor. Check the obscure the house is besides the kitchen. Hence no video of the bathroom; and the rest...I am a designer

A great mix of cozy and modern. Ì love the way the outside facade hides the beauty of the courtyard . What a gem.

What a brilliant house. We need more of these.
Lovely house! This is what good and real architecture looks like to me. Every decision and choice she took feels assertive!
This home is a unique work of art, but it is still extremely comfy and livible. Well done!
This house looks timeless to me and I love it, despite not being my style.

I genuinely get excited when the channel posts. Love this series. Can’t get enough.
What a treat. A fabulous house and a beautiful conversation about it.
Beautiful house built with love and passion. The conversation was so smooth and captivating.
Could be not my favourite style, but I really appreciate the ideas and materials in this house

So inspiring! Thank you so much for this beautiful film.
How nice this format of longer videos!
This is a lovely interview to here how an architect feels and live and why they live as they do. Thank you!
I just noticed her dining area has a different cinematic vibe and it's beautiful. 💖💖
This house is so organic and beautiful. 🌿💚
Outstanding in so many ways, surely a joy to live in!

We are architects/owners building our CLT home at the moment. It is a wonderful material to work with and design to. Congratulations on the project!

What a beautiful house and conversation. I am wondering, did you use Velfac windows and espcially doors for the front entrance?
Живой дом для этой семья. Прекрасная атмосфера.)

"No crazy man-made materials"
The shingles look like fish scales...

Love a lot about this but don't appreciate that she didn't create more of a space to play for her daughter in the back yard.
Take off your shoes mate! And jacket too
this is scare, my cat is sad
