I love this home. It whispers coziness. I would have loved to see a closeup of the floor when they were discussing it... instead of just talking heads and no floor in sight.
We should have got some shots of the floor - sorry about that! Here’s a film we did a while ago with a similar floor style, in case you’d like to check it out: ruclips.net/video/E0vYv8aREG4/видео.html
Absolutely loved this. It was a much needed dose of calm and inspiration. Particularly loved the workshop in the garden, the charcoal and the chain rain gutters ❤
Every chapter heading was an exquisite work of art. This is such a peaceful, beautiful home, with every choice so consciously and carefully made. Thank you so much for letting us in. I know I will go back to this video for inspiration time and time again.
I understand the seasonality and attachment to memory in Japan`s plant landscape,, seasons there being clear and powerful. It is a luxury to have your own space far from home and recreate your memories.
Just watched this thinking how beautiful Yasuyo’s botanical art is and sorry it was so short… then opened my latest library book - The Kinfolk Garden - and there Yasuyo is again - a whole chapter about her work in her (previous?) south London home! Bliss ❤
Yes the interview was very nice, but I would've liked a bit more on the architecture, the spaces themselves and how the achived the designs (like is it wallpaper or somekind of plaster on the walls)
I love that they did that with the back area, rather than bi-fold doors. Solid wall spaces are important - you take them away and it removes so much potential interest.
Apologies for not getting any shots of the floor! We filmed another home a while ago with a similar floor style if you’re interested: ruclips.net/video/E0vYv8aREG4/видео.html

Nice to see a Japanese aesthetic in a western home. I would like to build a home like this as I lived in Japan for 10 years but wrestle with how to combine western comfort with Japanese design. Having a modernist oblong open empty room is not enough. Thanks for posting this and yes, more details would have been nice.
Love the charcoal shed and the planting. And bringing nature into the home and vice verse is always a good decision. I also think the man with the glasses is quite attractive- but probably he’s also quite straight and obviously married…but one can’t have everything I guess… ,-). Greetings from Germany and thanks for all your interesting videos!
Matt, at 8:25, for some of us who are neurodivergent the orderliness of straight lines in the home actually calm the amygdala stress response, not trigger it.
Speechless, this was such a beautiful and calming home & garden!! I felt privileged to be able to peek inside. If that lady would have an Instagram account showing her plant arrangements etc., I would give in and join Instagram on an instant just to follow her.
I remembered replastering the entire house, i lobed the look and feel of it, the only element that made me change my mind to paint it was the smell of dust emitting through it. Not sure you experience the same with your plastered wall
We should have got some shots of the floor, really sorry! Here’s another film we did a while back with a very similar floor style if you want to check it out: ruclips.net/video/E0vYv8aREG4/видео.html
Had to stop the video to come see what was going on with the floor. Why not just make a podcast, why make a video if you don’t want people to see the things you’re talking about? Lol. Why was showing spider removal more important than showing the floor?
Apologies for not getting any shots of the floor - our mistake! We shot another film a while ago with a similar floor style if you’d like to have a look: ruclips.net/video/E0vYv8aREG4/видео.html
I found this home to look too messy. I'm all for bringing nature into the home - that's how I designed my home as well - but nature is also defined by order and organic spaces. This home was too filled with trinkets and a lack of breathing room to feel natural to me, like weeds overgrowing everything. Although that can also have its charm.
I love this home. It whispers coziness. I would have loved to see a closeup of the floor when they were discussing it... instead of just talking heads and no floor in sight.
Yeah really frustrating - the editor should have cut to some stills of the floor if they didn't get footage!

Yes beautiful, thoughtful house but no shot of the floor they were talking about very annoying!
I love and admire that they made this home their own. Nothing generic about it with amazing soft and hardscapes. Beautiful result.

This was really enjoyable and beautiful. A very peaceful way to start my day!
No contradiction here place, persons space ...design embodied.
❤
Thanks for letting us in

Such a lovely video. Thank you for sharing! Their home and her art is so beautiful. 🌿

Lovely home, lovely couple, lovely video.
Beautiful house and people who live in it!
GREAT Work of video and interview- My time well spent Thank you Modern House
Just beautiful!
So beautiful I had to watch it twice. And that’s happened with several of your videos.
I love that they did that with the back area, rather than bi-fold doors. Solid wall spaces are important - you take them away and it removes so much potential interest.
Loved the movie, the garden is an absolute magic and inspiration, will be researching all the plants they have there! 😅
Magnifique 🎉
beautiful garden! Could you please tell me where Yasuyo’s outfit is from. Thanks!
It’s actually a repurposed shower curtain. We use this same process to clothe my 5’3” 277 lb mother in law
Love the part where you said "I love the floor" while we never see what the floor looked like 🥰
So frustrating lol
Apologies for not getting any shots of the floor!

A sentient beard. Amazing.
There are elements of the garden that I can take away and apply in mine
Beautiful house. Did I miss the shot of the chequerboard floor?
Unfortunately we didn’t get any shots of the floor - apologies!
A while ago we made a film with a similar floor style though.

That was a great video, thanks for sharing. I really liked the chair she sat on right on the end, i need to get myself one of those!
Absolutely beautiful

Love the studio.. can you recommend people who build is ?
Beautiful vibe of the house and garden - the only thing which doesn't fit is that beer bench 😂

"Naycha"
Cheers to the camera man for showing us the floor 😂 🤦🏼♂️
Why not show the floor when you admire it?

Totally agree this was done in many of the Morden house videos such a let down.
@2:48 you can see the floor...

Show the floor! Show the sushi. If you don't want viewrers to look, don't talk about it. I stopped watching .
