    Aye, I've never heard of it but I am certainly keen on Damasteel and that can be an expensive attraction.

    Carbon just swims around freely during forging and heat treating. That’s why you get some kind of average toughness between the two parent alloys. Chromium and other carbide forming elements move much slower.
