Salaamu alaikum Also sheikh I sometimes try modern dance like hip-hop and breakdance . As well as getting free exercise outside of a gym environment which is very restrictive and also tends to be dominated by non-Muslims, I can also learn self expression and things like hand movements and freedom and coordination of the body. I read a hadith saying that the difference between remembrance and non-remembrance is like that between the living and the dead . Nowadays dance is associated with western pop culture at least two westerners . I think this is sad and people tend to associate things primarily with the country they come from. This may be true with dance as well I am not in nightclub, but I don’t take drugs. I don’t drink alcohol or smoke. I just try to get exercise. You probably know the idea of Mudra from Asian culture which is basically hand gestures in Hinduism and Buddhism but nowadays it is associated with gangs from America . That’s another example. But without exercise and self-expression, I feel like I am neglecting part of my humanity . I read Plato years ago and he said not training the body, especially the left-hand I think was like leaving once self disabled deliberately. I think ideally in Muslim culture there would be martial arts training and swordsmanship and archery and horseriding and wrestling for sports and pastime and physical attitudes. I have a teenagers archery set at home which is safe to use indoors. But as I am sick and the medicine needs to My being overweight, I need to get outdoors too and get some exercise in general. Some music helps me become motivated. Therefore, I want to apologise if I am misrepresenting Islam or being a bad example. I have learned that the truth in Islam promotes personal power and success and it is in that context that I practice these slightly unorthodox things which are generally frowned upon because they are not always Haram as far as I know and they (makruh things) can possibly be done for good reasons. (?) I think the exercise in modern culture is very segregated away from everyday attitudes whereas in the past it is possible that people were a bit more free and easy and social norms were not so extreme . For instance 1000 years ago it seems unlikely that there were specific places where exercise would be done excluding other places. I know that the platonists had gym for example, but they also had forests to run around in whereas in modern urban Society. It seems that social norms are very restrictive and it has become culturally habitual to regard it as normal not to have a bit of fun. That would be my guess however I’m not an anthropologist or historian. So because I tried to follow Hanafi fiqh, I feel I have to get back to one of the experts in the area to try and apologise or justify. If I didn’t get much exercise, I would be more overweight. I’m already obese and a risk of diabetes and heart attack, et cetera. I can’t really jog I’m too big. I can do a little Pilates but it’s a bit boring. I wouldn’t like to think I’m a corrupting influence on the religion, especially when youth are looking for role models and I am in my 50s. But it’s a bit of a dilemma because if I don’t exercise, I’m just a bad role model in another way . There is an opportunity for a little horse riding here in London, but it is so vague and distant and also things like martial arts are possible but they are generally only certain evenings at certain times and places. Like I said, I think historically Muslims were a bit more free exercise in general and society was not so restrictive as it is nowadays but I’m not sure thank you anyway.

Salaamu alaikum, sheikh: What is the position of the hanafi school on giving charity to the nonMuslims in non Muslim lands? It says in the Quran, if we help Allah, he will help us . With people being uncharitable towards Palestinians I cannot help wonder if that is a link such that the institutionalised neglect of poor people in non-Muslim lands leads to the plight of the Palestinians, the boycott of sadaqa to the extent it seems half genocidal drug dealing is preferable to half a date. And we expect to be free from curse or wrath, lol. I’m no expert but it seems unlikely to me. Isn’t it the case that many non white Muslim people feel they have immigrated to replace thick white people? And take their jobs and houses fair and square. Sounds like Islamic Zionism. A little understanding at least please. The uk government may have that plan but is doubt it’s very Islamic. I have worded this strongly on purpose not to be trouble causing but to make a point boldly. I think I recall reading a quote saying the keys to power are with your treatment of the poor or words to similar effect. Is it a valid attitude?
Imagine saying that with no scholarly accomplishments. That's one of the prerequisites of having an opinion at all on any scholar of Islam and you don't even know that, speaks volumes about your ignorance
