I miss this era of Sonic where you had to complete multiple converging stories and unlock a big final story and boss at the end. It's more interesting than just a linear level based game.
This game is a testament to how far Sonic Team has fallen. That final cutscene, man. Remember when each character had their own personality, substance and agenda, and it wasn’t just *Sonic Sonic Sonic* at the very center of everything? Me too.
Not to mention gameplay. They should just make games like this or the adventure games. The way the new games are is just garbage. This was the last good 3D Sonic game.

As for Generations, it was basically just remakes with the new engine which sorta plays the game for you a lot of the time tbh. Just not interesting. It's not really nostalgia. It's not like I enjoy the Genesis games either. I only like the Dreamcast and Gamecube games.
I kind of blame the fanbase for that. There were a lot of fans complaining about the play style of the non-2D sonic games and ridiculing the creators' decisions to add more characters. I think a lot of the hardcore sonic fans want, or wanted, games with just Sonic, Knuckles, Eggman, a story with no dialogue, and classic style 2D platforming levels. I personally miss the Adventure-style games.
Fun fact: froggy actually swallowed a little bit of chaos in sonic adventure and that's why when the fake eggman melts in the team rose story, neo metal sonic says "CHAOS DATA SUCCESSFULLY COPIED" after ejecting froggy and chocola out of himself.

I really can't criticize you when I find Gardevoir to be attractive. We got ass kicking to do, and eggs to make. For a shiny. Without a ditto." Then of course, the 1st shiny I hunted was a shiny Goomy. So, like, I kinda understand why dragon gals can be kinda attractive, but I don't think Metal Overlord is the kind of metal dragon gal that will love to cuddle and shoe ara ara doting affection.

This was my first Sonic game and, looking back, to have THIS be my first impression of Metal Sonic was utterly insane. I mean, I was just a kid back then, HOLY MOLY.
For those of you who were wondering why did super tails and super knuckles didnt appear Super and hyper knuckles are both possible in S3&K and super in S&K alone, [where you need all the emeralds to enter doomsday as sonic in that game alone), super tails was an added chartacter you got in S3&K with all the super emeralds, however knuckles cannot fly in super form and tails couldn't fly long enough without getting tired, that is why they have energy sheilds, they are created by extra power from sonic in his super form
Also, probably Sonic, Shadow and Silver are the only characters with a strong enough connection to chaos energy to just become super with the emeralds, no master/super emerald needed, unlike tails and knuckles, who needed to be with those.
Kind of a stupid rule. If the Chaos Emeralds have infinite power then something as simple as flying shouldn't be impossible. There should be never be a "can't do" in super forms. After all Super Sonic has no limit to his strength because he was able to falcon punch Perfect Dark Gaia so they shouldn't have nerfed Tails and Knuckles in Heroes by denying them the ability to fly.
I just recently got into the Danganronpa series, so I didn't expect this comment at all! At the time, I have finished the 4th chapter of the second game. Loving it so far, but I can't help but miss the characters from the first game (mainly Makoto, Kyoko, and Byakuya).
This was one of the few games as a kid where I really wanted to beat the game and see the ending but to this day at age 22, never happened. As a kid, I kept falling off easy off the levels
I remember loving this game as a kid, and the final fight was so satisfying I actually almost cried a little finallu beating him felt so good after failing many times (I was basically too young to know the complexities of gaming but still tried)

Actually, if you get every A rank emblem, you unlock Very Hard mode, which is every non-boss act in a row without stopping and difficulty harder then Team Dark's story.

Moisaruto True but that wasn't the formula's fault. 06 had alot of development and internal issues. Yuji naka leaving, Sega splitting the team, having to be forced to use the buggier build of the game, and being rushed by Sega to meet a Christmas deadline. If anything 06 probably would have been the best 3D sonic game at the time if it didn't have those issues.

Definitely one of my favorite Final Bosses ever in the Sonic series. If you're quick enough, like me, you can actually beat the Team Super Sonic section without hitting a single Ring Balloon. I always Homing Attack the blue energy spheres, I never Spin Dash. P.S. BTW, Sonic fanbase, stop complaining about the PS2 version! I played Sonic Heroes on PS2 and nothing was wrong at all. AT ALL! And the game ran at 60fps.
I think the original black label PS2 version was the shit one while the Greatest Hits/Platinum version was better. I did own the Platinum version and I don't really remember any real trouble with it. Though that was quite a while ago and maybe i'm wrong.

I regret not playing with all the teams years ago when I rented this. For some reason I assumed that the missions were going to be the same and I had no knowledge that there was a "last story" to this game. Now I've seen all the team missions and the very final battle I see that this was another fantastic throwback game from Sonic. Never again will I assume and always complete the main story. All the extra side missions I'll leave that for the fanboys and girls.

sonic adventure 2 is what introduced me to sonic and that's how I started to love some of the games
One of my favorites Sonic games.
Actually, if you get every A rank emblem, you unlock Very Hard mode, which is every non-boss act in a row without stopping and difficulty harder then Team Dark's story.

If you lose all your lives, you have to start your current playthrough over again

Back when Sonic villains were genuinely terrifying and not some underdeveloped wannabe that wanted to take over the world or destroy it. Seriously, metal sonic was legit horrifying in this game. Dude went all out just to kill sonic and his friends

The first three 3D games SonicAdventure, Sonic Battle, Sonic Heroes. Oh my God. Amazingly fun games. Not sure how I feel about the rest but I really hope they start making games like these again.
They try to do the same formula in sonic 06, but everyone knows how thats ends

Moisaruto True but that wasn't the formula's fault. 06 had alot of development and internal issues. Yuji naka leaving, Sega splitting the team, having to be forced to use the buggier build of the game, and being rushed by Sega to meet a Christmas deadline.
If anything 06 probably would have been the best 3D sonic game at the time if it didn't have those issues.

This was the first sonic game I've ever played I personally do not own it I played it with a few other kids I was 5 at the time now I'm almost 20 and I still remember the lyrics to what I'm made of

Metal's place may never have been explained in this game, but daemn if it isn't badass.

I never noticed, metal Sonic’s voice is different in the gameplay than it is in the cut scenes. Either why I love the voice and wish he would have spoken more in the other games
Definitely one of my favorite Final Bosses ever in the Sonic series. If you're quick enough, like me, you can actually beat the Team Super Sonic section without hitting a single Ring Balloon. I always Homing Attack the blue energy spheres, I never Spin Dash.
P.S. BTW, Sonic fanbase, stop complaining about the PS2 version! I played Sonic Heroes on PS2 and nothing was wrong at all. AT ALL! And the game ran at 60fps.

I think the original black label PS2 version was the shit one while the Greatest Hits/Platinum version was better. I did own the Platinum version and I don't really remember any real trouble with it. Though that was quite a while ago and maybe i'm wrong.
i agree the pe2 version isn’t as bad as people say but it flat out does not run at 60 fps. it’s locked at 30 with occasional dips

This game most certainly needs to be either remade or be available on PSStore, XboxStore, NintendoEShop as a 2000s classic just patch updates for the controls
I regret not playing with all the teams years ago when I rented this. For some reason I assumed that the missions were going to be the same and I had no knowledge that there was a "last story" to this game. Now I've seen all the team missions and the very final battle I see that this was another fantastic throwback game from Sonic. Never again will I assume and always complete the main story. All the extra side missions I'll leave that for the fanboys and girls.
