Two great lessons are taught here: One by President Hunter and one by Elder Packer:
    1. When we experience a set-back, a challenge, or a difficulty we simply push forward and not waste time wallowing in self-absorbed pity.
    2. We don’t need to be told when others need us to buoy them up. No one had to tap Elder Packer on the shoulder and tell him he needed to help President Hunter. He had the sense to spring to action when he saw there was a need.
We should all follow these two Christ-like examples.

What a superhero! I remember witnessing a similar event: I attended in-person at the conference session when Elder Joseph B Wirthlin started uncontrollably shaking during his talk, and Elder (at the time) Russell M. Nelson left his seat to stand next to him, ready to support. You can't help but admire servants of the Lord that won't allow age or physical limitations stop them from finishing their message.

First of all of course he ran over to help him That's what humans do there's nothing special about that.
Second you do know that these guys have given each other blessings in the temple that give them the ability to live as long as they want to.
You knew that right The second anointing?😅

I am always mesmerized by the strength and fortitude of our Church leaders. I've seen a Bishop who was in a horrible car accident attend church on the following Sunday only to be detoured to the ER after services due to his pain. I see these people men and women who can barely stand and who sometimes fall. Never failing to lead us and show us the path we should follow. I am humbled although inspired by tier strength and dedication.

I think we just witnessed one of the "many miraculous and blessed manifestations of God and Christ in our lives" getting back up after that fall was nothing short of a miracle.

_Back in my day miracles were actually miracles._ ~GOD
It would be a miracle if in the middle of his fall he stopped in mid-air and floated back up as if he was carried by angels.
You do realize everybody that falls will get back up If there is a group of men to pick them up. they will also stand if that same group props them up and holds onto them

My husband was hit by a truck coming out of a parkinglot in the first week of his mission in 1997 in Houston Texas. And when the driver came to talk to him...he did the door presentation about the book of Mormon and tried to offer him a Book of Mormon! :) ;) President Hunter is my Grandmas 1st or 2nd cousin btw ;)

The crazy thing is most Mormons don't know this but these leaders give each other a second anointing in the temple. It's a blessing that guarantees them into top tier heaven. It also blessed them with the ability to live as long as they want to.
So it's kind of weird when the profit who's received the second anointing chooses to start dying on the podium

    • @blenderesque708

you are murmuring about the Second Anointing. Even if it is offered to you I don't think you are even ready to receive it. Just like Jesus Apostles in the New Testament, they deserved it.

    • @Cyber_Cowboy

@@blenderesque708 they deserve it? Remember growing up in the church and being naïve and wondering if you would be the prophet when you grew up. would you be asked to be the president of the? only to become an adult and find out it doesn’t work that way you think it would work that way to be apostle then move up to possibly being the prophet You have to be born into the family have the right last name and apparently apparently the right skin color considering the majority of the Mormon church is now Hispanic it’s a little crazy that the leaders don’t represent even a percentage of that.

This shows the fallibility of choosing prophets not by fitness but by seniority. After a lifetime of service very old, feeble men are called upon to carry a heavy burden just because they outlasted the others.

    • @PassengerInMortality

Well, I guess you can tell your opinion to the Lord your next chance and see what He thinks about your criticizing His choice and methodology.

    • @rcnelson
      @rcnelson 3 года назад +1

@@PassengerInMortality In truth, Catholics have a better formula: choose the next pope not by seniority but by the cardinals' common consent from any qualified Catholic leader anywhere in the world. The idea that outliving everyone else qualifies someone to be prophet and that God wants the feeblest and weakest to lead the church is not only hard to believe, but is also a "political" solution to the chaos that followed Joseph Smith's murder. There was more than a little behind-the-scenes skulduggery when several church leaders jockeyed to succeed Smith. That confusion led to the idea of succession in order to avoid controversies that could cleave the church.

And yet, did hunter not continue? He broke 3 ribs in that fall and he had a history of health issues...but he still served and continued. You take into account the physical ability but fail to acknowledge the wisdom gained from those years of service. Also, I would like to point out the short tenure of President Harold B Lee. Lee was expected to serve for years and was remarkable healthy..but the lord called him back a year or so after becoming president.

Mics don't pick up everything, but I wasn't there so I don't know people's reactions or how it really sounded. 🤷
As for "drama", take it like that if you will but I prefer to see things in the sense of "How can I learn from this?" or "What is the good going on?"
So I see like I mention in the title, the old guy keeps going. 😮 I'm amazed at my own mom still going strong with arthritis, her many surgeries, and in the past few years her needing plasma infusions. Another positive in the video is brotherly love, which we all could use more of these days. 😊 There's just so much hate being projected, it almost overwhelms my depression. 🤦
