1) Mix half ACV/Warm water (warm water opens your cuticles and keeps the mask warm throughout application) 2) Add an oil! (the clay is drying! you need to add some type of oil to assist. any oil o fyour choice. I mix avocado/castor/peppermint 3) Never let your hair hair dry in the mask. It is drying. Use a shower cap and add heat :)! This will also create steam from the mask while under the cap keeping your hair soft and pliable 4) Follow with a deep conditioner for about 5-10 minutes.
Amena Orieso I'm still using the clay and now gets very easy I just use as a shampoo and condition as normal 😁 it gets easier and easier where you can cut corners after your hair is used to it
Yep Bentonite Clay is the bomb! Aztec is my favorite brand. Its the only one I trust to use on my skin and hair. Glad you finally tried bentonite clay it has so many awesome uses!
If I didn’t read the title I would have thought this was a relaxer bc of the thumbnail... almost had a myocardial infarction... but we bless God, ya curls looking juicyyy
You a med student? I found myself doing this after taking anatomy. I was like “my hair is glenoid length” my dad who’s a doctor looked at me like I was crazy 😂😂
When I do my Aztec clay mask, I make sure to add lots of conditioner and oils so that its not as drying. Also, if you are going to try this mask DO NOT comb through your hair while you have the mask on and even after you wash it out. Apply your most moisturizing conditioner to soften the hair. Leave it on for a couple of minutes and then proceed to detangle. I love this mask!
Absolutely LOVE THIS MASK! I add peppermint oil and olive oil to mines. I split my hair into four sections, rewater the sections before adding the mask, then I even water my hair as i apply the mask because it adds great slip and that allows me to detangle.
Clay, ACV, Hibiscus powder ( I rehydrate the hibiscus in warm water to make a paste, then add it to the clay mixture). An essential oil or two to counteract the strong smell of the ACV.
Clay, Jojoba and Sunflower seed oil and acv and just a little bit of water since the vinegar stings like hell. Every once in a while I'll add aloe vera gel to it if I have some
I am so jealous of those beautiful curls. I was born with peach fuzz and didn't have real hair until I was two. At that point my hair kept growing but it never matured into decent work with-able hair. It is straight as a stick and so fine that when I pull it back and braid it, the braid is only about 1/4 inch wide. I've considered going in for a weave but I think it would just fall out! Love your hair. You don't know how lucky you are!
My mom turn me on to this stuff. I've used it twice and have noticed a huge difference in how my hair holds moisture. It has made it grow alot. Will definitely keep using it.
Besides apple cider vinegar, I add aloe vera juice, liquid fenugreek, liquid amino acids and oils. I also place a plastic cap over my hair and leave the mask on for about 45 minutes to an hour -- loooooooove it! Then I deep condition using my thermal heating cap! I do a clay mask monthly!
I use the bentonite clay mask on my hair often. I use it on dry dirty hair and wash it out as part of my wash day routine. My tangles melt away as I apply this mask as vinegar works as a natural detangler. I have been known to leave it in over night for max benefits. It clarifies my strands and cleanses my scalp. I love this mask and would recommend it to everyone. BTW, when I don't have time to apply a mask and my hair needs clarifying, I use a 2 to 1 ratio of ACV to water solution in a spray bottle that does an excellent job in a pinch. Followed by a quick co-wash and you're good.
Love this mask after protective styling!! It isn’t as drying if you saturate your hair with water when applying. I like mine to be of a loose consistency so that it’s easier to apply and then rinse out. The curl definition is definitely my favorite thing about this mask.
YES... I love this stuff for our 4C curls!! I put a plastic cap over to keep the moisture in and from it getting hard.. maybe try that next time.. the curl definition afterwards is amazing! .. thanks for sharing please update if you try with an oil.
Here to see what I can use for my next wash. Thanks for the tip but clay naturally tends to dry though (especially this brand when I use it for my face), how can one try to keep it not dry?🤔 I thought the point is for it to suck out all unnatural built up products to the hair and how can this happen of it doesn't dry? Just curious
I use it once a week or once every other week. I leave it in for 45 minute to an hr then I deep condition my hair. I absolutely love it my curls clump and they’re more defined as well
Next time put peppermint oil in it, trust me I put some in the mask and OOUUU GIRL MY SCALP FELT SO TINGLY🤩 also I put some olive oil and water in it too so it wouldn’t be drying and it wasn’t, it went on really smoothly
personally I think its the acv softening my hair instead of the clay. I use acv rinses when I take out braids to really get rid of build up and its always super soft after.
@@alexxisgreen5458 I don't know if you've figured it out by now, but to get rid of the smell all you have to do is rinse it out. I've started using acv rinses instead of conditioner after shampooing and once I rinse it out, my hair smells like my shampoo. The acv smell is completely gone and leaves my hair feeling super soft
I use a mixture of kaolin clay, marshmallow root powder, hibiscus powder, aloe vera powder and purified water (my scalp is allergic to oil *sad face*). My hair is always soft, and, most importantly, detangled.
Nakupenda wewe I don't know if it's every oil, but I suspected my scalp was having issues. It was confirmed that I'm at least allergic to something when I applied oil directly to my scalp and felt like it was on fire in a matter of minutes. So, like I said, I don't know if it's every oil, but I've been reluctant to determine if that's the case. My scalp has enough issues. For the time being, I'll just stick to my leave in that I try not to apply too close to the root, even though I want to try Naptural85's pre-poo in the worst way😫
The way she was putting it on gave me anxiety but I do use that clay mask on my hair and it really works!! My curls have never looked better just ordered a new can last night😁😁😁
Chiziiiiiiiii this was an Awesome tutorial, i got great results when i tried it on my 4c hair, & i just posted it as my first video on my channel. Bentonite is definitely going to be a staple product for my detox days. Thanks again for such great tips. I love youuuuuuuuu
Yes I definitely added an oil of my choice. Lavender oil and bought a whole collection of other oils that are different. My second time doing this let’s try it
Love this clay...i just deep condition or hot oil treatment afterwards instead of adding extra ingredients besides vinegar and water to the clay so it can do its thing.
Omggg i loved your commentary... I laughed so hard.... Im definitely subscribing and now i know to leave the mask on longer cause i would have been scared too😂😂😂
I add oils and aloe vera juice to the mix to avoid that dryness. Also after I saturate my hair with it I spritz aloe vera juice all over and then cover with a plastic cap to keep it from drying
i would suggest using a wooden spoon instead bc of how powerful acv and the clay are. they can pull and absorb the chemicals from the plastic ❤ love you!
When I put it in my hair the consistency is thinner so that it is easier to distribute not as thick as it would be if I used it on my face. It dries quicker when it's that thick as well. I spray my hair with my aloe and essential oil mix (aloe vera is ph balancing and my hair loves it!) prior to application of the mask. I also cover it with a plastic cap to keep my hair moist and avoid the mask from drying out too much. I leave it in for at least 20mins and follow up with a conditioner or deep conditioner. This method never leaves my hair feeling stripped even before the conditioner.
The first time I used it I was very blown away by the way my hair felt too but as I kept using it I noticed that my hair trends became thinner and weaker everytime. I noticed this because I found a comb with some of my hair trends from at least 2 months when I last used it and compared to my hair trends now, they look awefully thinner and easier to break than they used to be. Just be careful what you put in your hair and try to get every information necessary about the product (good and bad) before using it. Because although it's making the hair very manageable it is also making trends thinner and weaker
That is what confused me about this stuff.. You have to figure that aztec clay, used on the face, is meant to be a pretty extreme detox. It's bentonite, harmless but it's like the main component for cat litter in that its main function is to absorb like 140% its weight in moisture. It will suck out everything, which is good for extreme acne on the face, but I worry that putting basically super absorbant micro-rocks in your hair that pull all the moisture out is pretty dangerous..though good for removing excess product and build-up but not useful in constant use. I personally think its probably the ACV that actually does the most good here.. it does the same as the clay in that it pulls out build-up, but also fills porous hair with a lighter substance, making it springier. ACV at the correct strength also imitates the healthy acidity of hair and scalp which does help with preventing buildup of bacteria.. all while being lighter than a conditioner with the same effect, so good for curly hair. Personally I'd try just an ACV rinse and see if that works better than risking excess breakage with drying clay in the hair.
You should always keep your hair moist while applying the clay to hair. You should have had a spray bottle to keep hair moist. It's very important not to let the hair Lose it's moisture and dry out and harden the hair as this could cause breakage. Other than that the results were amazing. Good job.
I just used this today, left it on for 35 minutes while under an thermal cap. It didn’t dry so when it was time to wash it out it came out easily and my hair was so shiny
You’re too cute how u still pretty with all that clay in your hair! I uploaded 3 videos on my channel using this clay mask on my scalp, underarms and full body but not my actual hair! I keep seeing everyone post how it’s so good for your hair I think I might try it n let it be my next uploadv🙌🙌🙌🙏 thank u for sharing ♥️
I was a die heart Aztec mud washer until I found out about about Moroccan or rhossual clay, which is 100 times more moisturizing and use the same way as Bentonite clay
If your hair feels dry while applying, have a spray bottle nearby where you can moisten your hair a bit. Put on a plastic cap and let it sit for 30 mins.
I love mixing my clay with acv and aloe Vera juice. I leave it in for 30 minutes, rinse and follow up with my shampoo. I use my favorite deep conditioner and sit under my hair steamer for 30 minutes.
Great video but I wonder why you didnt use it on your scalp, that ~is~ the point of the concoction lol to clean and purify/detox. So i was kind of cringing at the face you only coated your hair beyond the scalp 🥴 but overall you are a beautoful woman! & i learned things from this video 🥰😍
Your hair is soooo bouncyyyy! I just cut my dreadlocks off #freethecurl It’s tough since my hair is so short now, I’ve got a twa, but it’s a learning lesson. My first wash on my hair felt SO DAMN GOOD! I had a dry scalp, but it has went away since it’s way easier to wash and oil my head and hair. GUYS if you are just starting out like I am and have super short hair, I recommend getting a “curl sponge” not sure what it’s actually called, but it works wonders. I even tried a regular dish sponge just to see and that works too, just make sure it’s clean! Much love from me 😘❤️👏🏾
❤👌🏽Looms sooo good that moisture! I was scared as well when I tried this for the same reason😂 but I let it ride...oh yea I let it sit for awhile then added a shower cap before if dried all the way...it keeps it moist. 😉
My sister got meanie Aztec Clay for Christmas last year and I'm just now about to use it 😅. I've got nothing to do today so it's kinda like why not? And my hair needs it soooo 🤷🏾♀️
Ive been doing bentonite clay hair masks for a while now. Usually I'll forget about them until my hair decides to be a frizzy mess for some odd reason and then I will watch youtube and see ppl talking about bentonite clay and I'm like oh yea I remember that works good for my hair lol. I just did my clay mask a couple days ago and posted a video on my results. Normally I just use ACV and water and the bentonite but this time I added grapeseed and rice bran oil worked great. But I suggest using a shower cap to prevent your hair from drying extremely hard :)
I love going on youtube and seeing girls that look like me, it's a great feeling.

It does a good job at stretching your hair too
So I'm trying this on locs🧐I wonder how different it will be
It'd probably help to put a shower cap on to lock in the heat and moisture and don't leave to air dry
My sister got meanie Aztec Clay for Christmas last year and I'm just now about to use it 😅. I've got nothing to do today so it's kinda like why not? And my hair needs it soooo 🤷🏾♀️
Can I mix clay with aloevera gel and acv?
you are literally so beautiful
.... so beautiful hair and haircut, love it!
I'm going definitely give this product a try!...Thanks!
It looks so bouncy, I def have to try!!
Your hair hair looks like a soft cloud it’s so bouncy
I'm going to try this out !
I have a question do you shampoo and condition your hair before you use the clay or after ?
