I had a plate fall off my DRZ400E and didn't realize it. When the deputy pulled me over he was legitimately disappointed that I didn't try to run. He said, "Man I was honestly hoping you were going to take off. It's been a slow day and you guys on dirt bikes are always a good time."
But Really, Why bother?
In the End, they wind up Catching you.
Even if you get chased by another agency and caught, in the End it just makes it worse.

And that was the beginning of the Blues and cruise club, an elite club of riders and Cops who got to play Chase scenes irl.
I am a retired cop. I stopped a guy in a 1969 Camaro that he just got running in the early 90’s. He had an illegal exhaust, open headers. I wanted to see the car plus he had failed leaking rear wheel cylinders so no rear brakes. He was happy I stopped him, his tags and license came back good so no ticket. We became friends. He showed me repeatedly how to rebuild a carburetor I showed him fuel injection. He is also one of the few people I have allowed to drive my first day production Gen 5 Camaro.
Cops are people, we are car guys, bike dudes, horsemen, we just dress funny for work.
Sir, I don’t know you, but you sound like an extremely nice person! Sadly, a rare kind nowadays
Bless you great comment! Thank you for everything.
Well said good sir. God bless you and your family, may He keep y'all warm, happy and safe. Much love and respect from deep in the heart of Texas. Peace

Thank you Chase for being a good example of how the motorcycle community should behave! We're all here to have fun and never want to see avoidable circumstances turn into tragedy.🤙
Yeah... He got lucky with this cop, most if not all cops are tyrants looking for trouble. Best thing to do in most cases is just run from them.

After 18 years and retired I just wanted to say thank you for being understanding and cooperative cause he’s just doing his job. I wouldn’t have given you a ticket either thanks and that’s why I love your videos.
Thanks for your service sir!
Almost every cop that has pulled me over on my bike has thanked me for stopping and even a couple told me they were surprised I had done so.
I seen one stop outside the gate when he was lit up. He was also on a Ducati. Cop kept looking back and forth between me and the rider confused that the rider actually stopped. He let them off with a warning even though dude was flying. When he left the cop walked over and was just too dumbfounded to give him a ticket. I couldn't stop laughing when he got pulled to a call
Thats how it is now, if you say anything "pro-cop" or for pulling over when you dont have a plate or doing 110mph in a 40, they call you a "bootlicker" gives the rest of the community a bad name. Same with takeovers etc, those arent car enthusiasts those are just people wanting to create chaos
Dude, if you pull over and just tell me you realize you did something dumb then I'm just gonna laugh and give you a warning. If you've got a cool car or bike, then I'll even ask if I can grab a couple photos with my camera for fun since I'm a photographer as a side gig (always got one with me). The only times I've written citations are when people talk their way into it.
@@NXT_LVL I can't stand the cops, but I'm not stupid enough to put myself and others in danger just because I don't like them.
Here the cops don’t even try to pull over bikers. If you have no tag you’re not getting stopped. No chase policy and we have 2 cops max in my area at a time they can’t stop a biker.
It's always great to see good cops in action, doing a real service. Making sure a bike isn't stolen, not acting like the person's a crook, then using seriously good discretion in handling the situation. Plus being friendly - it's what communities need, and if every cop were like this, we wouldn't have the gap between police and citizens that we have today.
It goes both ways. If the citizen doesnt act entitled, the cop would be polite.
It does go both ways every damn citizen always says that the police are in the wrong and say they did nothing wrong when usually they clearly did
@@Portrialbut it’s always the cop who has the power to abuse, not the citizen.
@@cemdursun disagree. Democracy is a power, and a citizen can use also abuse it. Using appeal to emotions, rather than using logic or being a respectful social beings, citizens can use cancel culture to destroy a cop's life.
@@cemdursun Legal power, yes. But they're not only ones with the power to decide if things go well. Lots of people panic and then resist, or are career criminals that are violent anyway, or super entitled, etc. Both us civvies and the police need to do better over all, imo
What an awesome cop! Good on you for highlighting the great interactions with LEO instead of all the bad ones we see on RUclips! Ride on man! 🤙🏻
I agree. Some cops are assholes and this guy was very cool.
I dunno my guy, it may be who (or the type of people rather said) I watch, but most cop interactions I see are similarly chill.
Most LEO's are assrats following you closely and using intimidation tactics to get you to make mistakes.
I’ve had my share of tickets, and I’ve ALWAYS treated the officers with courtesy and respect, and I’ve always had the same in return. The ‘Golden Rule’ needs to be taught again.
The bad ones are far and few compared to the good ones. The bad ones get more attention because most people like to be angry over being happy.
Years ago I got stopped by a cop on my way back from the Jersey shore. I gave him my license, registration and insurance card. He gave me back a written warning for having my rear break light out and congratulated me on being the first bike he'd stopped that week who had all their paperwork in order. Mind you this was late afternoon on Friday but, still, he was pleasant to me because I was legal.

I tell people all the time, cops really don't care too much about light speeding. But tuck plates or no plates makes them perk up every time. It just screams "stolen" which means they're usually expecting that you have warrants for other arrests and they hit the jackpot. Usually if you pull over, they tend to realize you're not a criminal because otherwise you would have just ran. But they'll still write you the tag ticket, especially in Florida.

@@getty6974 I wouldn't consider 23mph over "light speeding" like the original comment said
Funnier than that, I got pulled over recently for moving a bit faster than I should have been on my Yamaha FZ1. I pulled over and when I pulled my helmet off, the officer immediately started to relax and smile given I'm 61 and totally gray haired. He even mentioned he didn't expect "someone my age to be riding that kind of bike". Long story short, I behaved like you did and the young officer gave me a warning and a "Have a nice ride" comment. If you don't act the fool, you'll generally always have good results with the PoPo.
Ditto
When the officer says that, (Aren't you a bit old for this?). My reply when stepping off my Aprilia Tuono is, "Nope, I actually still have a pulse!."
I had a similar situation on my 86 FZ750 some years back. I had filtered to the front at a light (legal in Calif.) and when the light changed I went a bit hard on the beans so I wouldn't cut off the car in my lane. A cop saw it and pulled me over to have a chat. He came up to me a bit pissy at first (I am kinda small built so he was thinking he had some teenager on his hands) but once I took my helmet off and gave him my license he chilled out. (I was about 30 at the time.) He came back, we chatted a bit and he let me go with no warning or ticket.
My second encounter with Highway Patrol could have ended up much worse...same bike, different location a few years later. I was rushing to get home from a motocross race (I was the announcer) and was doing very much over the speed limit. He also was a bit angry (and rightfully so, I was going way too fast) at first. He asked what the rush was, I told him I was trying to get home before dark. (It was a mainly rural area, with critters who love to run across the roads at night.) He asked where I was coming from, I told him the race track..he then asked if I knew his nephew (I did, he was at the race that day). After checking my record, he saw it was clean. He did state that my MC permit at the time didn't allow me to be on the freeway (the roads I took were all highways, which are different, and ok , by law.) He apologized for that, but let me know that even though he wasn't going to ticket me (and impound the bike), since he had called the stop in, I better not get stopped again or there would be a different outcome, AND he would have to explain that actual speed he caught me at. I saw him a few more times, at the races, with his nephew. :)
Bottom line is, in both situations, I was polite and calm with the officers, and both times I was able to move on with no tickets or points on my record.
@user-jl8yy5ir7sLook, you generally reap what you sow, and younger folks are far more likely in today's America to pop off and act the fool than some of us older folks. A cop's job is not easy, navigating all the BS they have to deal with, so I always try my best not to add to that BS, and the resulting outcomes generally have been positive.
I too am an elder lemon. They relax a good amount with helmet off.
We knew that life of crime was going to catch up to you, Chase!

I've been stopped by the law countless times, on my bike and in my car. In my dealings with them I've come across the full spectrum, from complete arseholes, aggressive ones, okay ones and great ones.
Just like life, you meet all sorts.
The best ones were in Spain many years ago, pulled us over, checked our paperwork, all was good, so proceeded to pull out a map, and show us the best roads in that area. Amazing.
Exactly. When he said if you just treat cops like normal people it will be fine is not like that sometimes. I've dealt with cops that were cool and I've dealt with cops that were totally ass-holes for no reason.
When I was younger, cops used to give me hard time. Never a warning, always a ticket. As I've matured, they've always been really cool, I got stopped a few times, and they just let me go with a warning. Usually end up having a conversation like in this video.
ive only had sneeringly neutral to actively violent cops stop me. I'm tall, slim, and white with long and facial hair, i have no chance of receiving respect from them.
@@cubedmack I'm a long time truck driver and i have seen every kind of cop there is ,,most town cops and sheriff deputies are by and large pretty easy going ,,there are some that really hate speeders even the petty 1 or 2 MPH over ones ,,state troopers on the other hand range from nice and friendly to mean and down right angry and one who had a bad day is the worst kind to run across cause he'll take his whole day out on you and it doesn't matter what you've done
Cops around Atlanta deal with enough, I'm sure you were a breath of fresh air to this Officer, great interaction.

You both handled this exceptionally well. Awesome cop. I guess enforcement varies by area or I was just lucky, because I rode a bike around SoCal with no plates for several weeks and had no issues. Dealership couldn't be bothered to send their paperwork to the DMV (it took 6 months and a formal complaint) and in the meantime my temporary paper tag tore and flew off.
I haven't been pulled over in years because I'm a slow old ADV dad, but just a small tip for others: it's a good idea to let the officer know before you hop off the bike, lest they wonder if you're about to take off on foot or square off against them (people do dumb things). They will appreciate the communication.

Staged and sterile recording environment. Low noise pollution. Reduced lighting for that afternoon. Probably about 3-4pm. Noting that there is no direct light. Very perfect, I mean, convenient spot.
As a uniformed police sergeant myself I can say you did a lot of things right. You pulled off the busy road within a reasonable amount of time, you pointed to where you wanted to stop to let him know your intentions, you pulled into a parking spot nose first basically trapping yourself there (no worries about you jetting off when he makes his initial approach). You were basically a cool person, humble and he was also. It was a great stop for you and him.
The question about where his mindset was seeing a bike without a tag was excellent too. It shows you were trying to understand his perspective also.
Something that I've learned over many years on the job is usually people mainly want to be honestly heard and understood... law abiding citizens, criminals and cops alike.
Dude, they always expect us to run, and when you don't... when you just pull right over and are cool to them, they almost always go easy on you. Locals, even GSP has been like this guy, because they appreciate not having to chase you down, and it shows that you are not an idiot and they more often than not just tell you to slow down and take it easy...
Yeah the last time I pulled over I got reckless driving, speeding, and all the extra for speeding up to pass a semi. Road Pirate was in a Tahoe, still got the maximum ticket possible. Never stop for road pirates if you don't have plates.
@@Waldo1122 Not for me. GSP loves a good chase... Last 3 times I have been pulled over on the bike I got warnings, and in all cases I was at or above double the speed limit on back roads... No ticket is worth my life or freedom. If I see the blues I pull right over. Last time I was up in the North GA mtns at 114 in a 45. I started to slow down for a turn and GSP rolled past me. He clocked me at 73 in a 45 and the lights went on as I went around the bend. I pulled over, had my helmet off and was waiting for him when he came flying around the turn expecting to have to chase me down... @@Daves_Man_Cave Yeah he thanked you for pulling over so his ego is stroked. He isn't clocking shit in the mountains with a radar and he knew it.
He isn't wasting his time and the state's time for nothing, he pulled you over hoping you'd just admit that you were speeding so he could hand you a hefty ticket and collect money for the state as state trooper's only purpose is to generate money.
@@Waldo1122 Not true. GPS now has the ability to lock onto THREE separate vehicles at the same time while rolling towards you. They upped their game. The number he gave me was exactly what I saw on the dash...
Another time we got pulled over on Wolf Pen Gap, and he had printouts for all three bikes, ranging from 58 to 63 in the twisty 35mph zone. He thanked us for pulling over, and gave us "too fast for conditions" with no points or insurance hit. Was a $96 ticket, I recorded the encounter and put it on my channel.
Most cops are cool if you are cool with them and don't run. If your experience is consistently different than mine, perhaps we are doing things differently, that is contributing to that?
This! I got pulled over by GSP not too long ago and walked away with a warning. He locked me in a 105 in a 65 on my R3. I almost got hit merging onto a highway and gave it too much sauce and yeah... it's no excuse but as soon as I saw him I pulled over and tossed my keys to the side because I already knew I was going a bit fast. He thanked me for immediately pulling over and he ever picked up my keys saying I didn't have to do that (probably knew he could easily catch me on my lil r3 lol). Respect goes a long way for sure!

Not only are they people too - they're quite often bikers themselves!! It's gotta be hard being a biker at-heart AND a police officer, having to see too many idiots on the roads riding in unsafe manners and having to deal with the awful consequences of such behaviour. From what I've seen, most cops who are also bikers just want fellow bikers to be safe and to not get injured or die on the roads, and to actually be legal too since it's not _that_ hard a thing to achieve. Awesome interaction you had, and thank you for uploading it!! Too many channels hide these kinds of interactions and only ever post the negative stuff, which adds to the warped perspective the rest of us tend to end up having about how things generally go with police when you're on a bike (or in traffic stops in general). THIS kind of video is encouraging to see and far more likely to encourage those still making up their mind to actually give biking a go!! That cop _was_ a super-cool dude and uber chill from the start about the whole thing though, so perhaps he's just "one of the good ones" as they say. Or it's because you immediately pulled over that put him in such a great mood!! 😊
No Chase that’s not always what happens when you stop. The one and only time I was pulled over on a bike was at midnight on a Wednesday, I was leaving work and headed home. I was coming down an extremely steep hill and a cop was coming up the hill. He thanked me for stopping and not running, and then proceeded to give me a ticket for doing 51 in a 45. I wasn’t even speeding at the top of the hill, I just was commuting home and the hill sped me up 6 mph. Still grinds my gears to this day….
You got a 6 over ticket. Pay it and move on. If this is your worst cop experience then you should count yourself very lucky. Pulling over and getting a small ticket is far better than being pulled over and charged with reckless driving or a felony.
@@DW94576 I get that, and that’s not the point I was trying to make. I would never run from the police. The point was Chase was making it seem like if you pull over, cops can be reasonable and talk it out. I tried explaining to the cop that I was doing the speed limit at the top of the steep hill and that momentum sped me up. His response was that he didn’t care and that I should effectively be riding my brakes all the way down the hill. Then followed it up with “I can’t write warnings”. I knew that was a straight lie because my buddy is OSHP and he gives warnings all of the time. Dude was trying to make quota. But the county I was in ended up just taking my money and knocking me down to zero points.
@@CBRboy1717officer is correct. If you can’t control your speed on a downhill that’s your problem. The law is the law…
That's the sort of ticket, that even if "technically" justified, is just really a money grab, because riding your brakes down the hill, heating them up, and them losing efficiency, which could potentially lead to an accident, is really safer than just getting a couple mph over on a downhill run? If that was me, I would have been very spiteful and ticked the box on the ticket that I'll contest it in court, then rock up to court and self represent. Worst case they won't throw the ticket out, you then request a payment plan, even if you don't need to have one, just to spite them.
@@MrToranaGuy I have never ridden a motorcycle, but is engine braking not a thing on them?

Having had a bike stolen many years ago, I appreciate the cop pulling you over when you're looking so completely shady, but appreciate even more how he didn't assume you were a criminal and genuinely told you why he had reason to pull you over and asked why you didn't have a plate. With no plate, check the VIN and wish you a good day. Easy peasy (other than finding the VIN).
You can even be a private dealer and get dealer plates (at least in Arizona) , super funny interaction between you two though. THESE are the majority of cops around the country and it's always nice to see them being filmed and publicized. NOT ALL COPS ARE BAD

Good interaction with the officer. Respect works both ways. Good video, ride safe!
You defiantly "tinkled" a bit when you saw the lights! LOL!!! I have watched you and Yummi from the nearly the beginning and to see your channel just improve and grow. AWESOME! Congrats to you, your family, and all those involved in your channel.
OC: Honestly surprised it's been 8 years of 1st rides and this is the 1st time a cop hit the lights and pulled you over with just the Mountain plate on the bike. Also Chase you're not alone with feeling you're gonna get pulled over soon as a cop sees you. I don't know what it is, but there hasn't been a week go by since I got my RSV4 Factory that a cop hasn't pulled me over and only once was I speeding and it was like 5mph over. Every other time it's been them saying "Wow I like your bike", "Where did you get that?", "How does it ride?" or "Is it reliable?" I swear it's like having a nice bike makes you a 👮 magnet.
Thank you for being respectful to our officers and being a GREAT example of a great American. Phenomenal. You're awesome.
Thank you for posting this! It was nice seeing how people should react to the police and the officer was great too! :) Love seeing stuff like this!
super cool cop and you handled it really well which allowed him to be cool with you, love to see it
Love this!!! You are an awesome young man! Cops need respect and kindness too!
Excellent conduct & mutual respect shown by both parties.
Props to the cop for being such a cool dude and a pro at same time. 🙏 God Bless and protect ya. :D
My man Chase dropping facts! You got a new subscriber because of this interaction.
That officer was a totally chill guy! Can we have more guys like that one?!
Good job showing a positive angle to people who ride.
Did anyone else hear the whispered "enchante" at 4:49 in the video? LOL....i had to go back and make sure!
I think its from the music
It’s the music
Your ability to without missing a beat frame the camera not just twice but three times, completely without a screen is seriously impressive.
Really surprised you weren't aware that you need to use dealer demo tags when you're out doing a test ride, but that said, I do remember years ago around Atlanta, cars with tags that just said "Tag applied for" which I hardly thought was legal.
*cars with tags that just said "Tag applied for" which I hardly thought was legal.*
I know of one instance where the DMV was the one that told the driver to put Tag Applied for on their car while title issue was getting sorted.
tag applied for isn't really legal anymore after you purchase (dealers issue you temp tags now) but car dealers do have "test drive in progress" paper plates they put on cars for cases exactly like this
My brother restored a 397 Chevelle , Hemi tranny, and some racing differential. He had performance headers and custom exhaust that was quieter than stock. It was pearl black and re dipped chrome trim. It was used on a few movie sets. Anyways, he got pulled over for doing 50 in a 35 speed trap. He was very cool to the cop, stepping out of the car so the cops could do a once over, which was legal back then. The cop was impressed with the work. So my brother would not let the cop go until he saw the rest of the car. He showed him a low-profile double carb and flat wide air box so the hood would close. He showed him the trunk with all sorts of goodies for the car. Low profile spare. Cans of air, flares, safety stuff, first aid, jumper cables, all packed to the sides and a trunk for 3 people. The cop was so jealous he let my brother off with a warning.
Now that's an awesome example of an interaction most of the time ya behave and treat them with the same respect you'd like everyone comes away ok.
And I agree with Chase 1000% had a bike slam into the back of my car because he was tryin to run. dude broke his neck, got sued by my insurance, and his criminal charges.
I ride a California Street Legal Dirt Bike and I think a cop is going to pull me over EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! LMFFFAAAOOO
Great police officer. We need more like him.
What a great cop, and a great interaction. Goes to show that your own demeanor will always affect the outcome, but even more it shows that a cop with humility, good humor, and *non-aggressive posture from the get-go of the encounter* sets the tone - sadly, this is hit or miss.
The officer will now see your video hahaha Great stuff.
Excellent example of intelligence on the part of both rider and cop. Rider expected to get pulled over and knew why, Cop knew his patrol area well enough he never questioned the rider's explanation. Level heads turn an oh chit moment into a pleasant encounter
They generally don't have test drive tags for motorcycles because most places don't allow test rides, at least that is the case where I live.
Also, the officer is correct, no tags usually indicates that the rider is up to no good in our area because most agencies don't allow motorcycle chases and riders know this.
Ok I was under the assumption that bikes were like cars when test driving (riding) …dealer plate etc
Spot on, I’ve been pulled over several times here in Aus while reviewing motorcycles. Just be polite & respectful , do as they ask and generally you’ll ride away without a problem.👍
Bro you breathing so hard like he might beat you up lol 😂
As a life long rider and retired LEO I was appreciated riders that stopped so many flee for no reason some crashed and hurt innocent people in the process. Thanks for being such a good example and FYI I usually have the bikers a break lol
Didn't sound like you noticed: the parking lot you pulled into and the building in the background is the Alpharetta Police building and lot. LOL
😅
Yep. Nice to see a good example of a bike owner and a good cop. 👍
I was stopped in Denver by 3 moto-officers surrounding me. I asked why are there 3 of you and one said we were too close to the interstate and they were concerned that if I made it to the entrance to the interstate they wouldn't be able to keep up!! Never entered my mind to run. Can't out run radios!
why did they stop you
Most cops, and I mean most, are great people who care about their job and the community they serve. They are human and do make mistakes, but so do we. For all those that risk their lives and do it with respect and honor, thank you!
Yeah ive lived in states where they dont do temp plates. You just carry around the bill of sale for the grace period. But it still feels weird.
Over here in Germany you're only allowed to ride/drive without a plate if you're going straight from the shop to the German DMV (I think that's how you call that in the US) aka Zulassungsstelle.
"You guys that run are just idiots."
Love the emphasis on the last word there. Big true.
Very nice interaction - always good to see these. Courtesy shown and given, no dramas, positive outcome for all.
Totally Cool Cop . You're correct , just talk to them , clearly and lucidly and USUALLY they will cut you plenty of slack SIMPLY FOR DOING THAT .
Dealership SHOULD , however , have " Dealer Plates " for EXACTLY this situation . Sounds like THEY need some " educating " on the matter .
