U2 is STILL making excellent music. They are the one band that is still relevant, after decades. I've listened to tons of bands and after all these years, they are still my favorite. They've managed to keep their sound without sounding dated. May they continue for more years to come.
An absolute masterpiece, late in U2's career, proof that they never lost the ability to craft brilliant songs. This sits comfortably among their best work.
This band is a part of my soul. I have loved them for as long as I can remember. This song caught me so off guard(as I was driving), I had to pull into a parking lot and sobbed uncontrollably! I love you guys, thanks for always being there!
Yes, Jennifer, this is one of my favorite U2 songs, and I have ALOT of favorite U2 songs, it's akin to asking a parent which kid is their favorite!(hint, they ALL have a favorite kid, most just won't admit it openly, but I digress!)! The first time I heard it I was in the car too, and while I didn't weep uncontrollably, I was also completely UNDONE and, what was left of me lay like a puddle on the floor mat. Every time I hear it again, it takes me back to that place, that feeling, that moment in time, and those waves wash over me anew. Few songs speak to me and for me like this one does, and U2's songs CONTINUE to SAVE MY LIFE! No word of a lie, no bs, no hyperbole.
@@stylesonline I have 5 kids. I honestly cant pick one! I am touched by each and every one of them. I can’t even pick a favorite color. All together they are a living canvas that never ends. The best parts of me are who I am, because of them.

Steven Lee Ed Sheeran is talented , but will he still be at the top of his game in 40 years. Who knows. U2 are still vibrant , still writing great tunes. They just need to not give a damn what the press say and forget going for radio hits .
Doesn’t even compare the guy is overrated and his music is absolutely shit only gets hyped cause there’s nothing else out there that gets commercially hammered as that annoying fucker
One of U2’s very best songs from the last ten years is “The Little Things That Give You Away”. Contemporary and classic sounding at the same time. That’s the mark of quality.
I have been listening to U2 since 1980...their music has helped me thru some hard times! All I know is you either GET U2 or you do not.. Have seen them every tour. Went to Tulsa for opening night of the tour....BRILLIANT There are a lot of people who want to tear down anything good, they aren't enlightened enough to understand U2. We are like a family of like minded souls. I am 61 years old and their music still touches my soul.
The beginning of the song reminds me of having a drink in a dark bar. Drowning in worries. Then all of a sudden the song picks up, then you get up filled with inspiration and then you leave that dark bar and realize things need to get done in your life.
This song combines U2’s modern music evolution with vintage U2 sounds and lyric elements reminiscent of The Unforgettable Fire and Joshua Tree albums. It transcends the intervening decades and appeals to new U2 listeners like my college-age kids as well as lifelong U2 fans since the Boy album days. The tender vocals that build to crescendo with Edge, Adam, and Larry in an emotional appeal and rhapsodic fade at the end… just sublime songwriting and lyrical genius. I know of no other band that not only hasn’t lost a step in 40 years of creation and performance together, but is still perfecting its craft and gifting the world with sublime songs like this while maintaining close family-like friendship. They truly do “the little things” that result in meaningful music.
That solo kills me every single time.40 years and they are still capable of coming up with something like this.True greats who redefined my life completely.Thank you Bono, the Edge,Adam and Larry!
Srdjan Gojkovic it’s. Amazing how Larry Mullen Jr put up a poster at school saying he was starting a band. Bone, Edge, Adam and one other guy showed up who didn’t last long. Still the still the same guys. The edge rocks that guitar like no other. When Bono’s mom died he didn’t get on with his dad. He met Ali at school and starting inviting him to dinner at her house and they started spending time together and they are still together AND he still brags about her. He is worth 650 million. She could be dressed head to toe in bling but she is not. She always looks nice but hasn’t let the money go to her head. His kids say the same thing. He is an awesome dad but he doesn’t just throw money at them. I couldn’t pick a favorite song there are to many I love and listen to over and over again.
Don't they just sum up perfectly the human element; that contradictory nature and the doubts. It is hard to categorise U2's music but really the main thing is just to enjoy it because it is so special.
40 years as the greatest band in the world gives U2 the title as the greatest band of all time. The Beatles were amazing for 10 years. This Songs of Experience album, 40 years after they started its pure gold. An unparalleled achievement in the history of music.
Hey U2 hold the record for most gross earnings in 2017 for touring on The Joshua Tree Tour and they also have broken records with the U2 360 tour. There has to be a reason for this.
I recommend repeat listenings. By about #20 or #50 or #99 you will understand it reaches you in deeper and more profound ways over time. It may evoke epiphanies of empathy or remorse or vows to avoid contributing to a loved one's pain in the ways the lyrics describe (or an understanding of what you are called to forgive). Or something else. Just realize that this song like so many other U2 songs has a life of its own and count yourself privileged to listen and learn while also inviting and enjoying the touch of sublime musical genius.
Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience are great CD’s. I have listened to them over and over again. Very different than early U2. Excellent era of U2 music.
This band U2 just get better no other band in the history have achieved what this band has. U2 is a genre of music they are not Rock,Pop,etc just U2 an original genre. 20 years from now the world will realize how incredible this band is and how relevant the messages in U2 songs are .
U2 is the only band in the history of modern music to bag 22 Grammys till date. Hail their music as tailormade music direct from Lord's own kingdom ... They will always be one of the greatest 💪💪
Yeah man! - I believe all their talent, is God-given!! And they're giving Him credit---on all their albums--"40",psalms, "You're the reason, the opera is in me..." Sometimes, you can't make it on your own. (For his Dad- but for sure- an analogy, for God------)
Still getting it done. Unchartered territory. No band in history still created magic almost 40 years in. They refuse to give in to the pains of finding great melodies as you age. They push through until they find them. Bravo.
Their first album was called "Boy" and it was released in 1980 (in the us). The song "Sunday Bloody Sunday" was released on their third album "War," which was released in 1983.
One of the best songs they've written over the past 20 years. Classic U2 sounds, the arrangement and the way it builds up into this incredible climax is amazing. Powerful performance
Makes me want Mercy officially released. To me they used a bit of it in this. LOVE this song so much. To see it live on the tree stage in 2017, many times, but Pittsburgh is where I fell in LOVE with it. My soul is satisfied yet yearns for more. That's U2. ♥
Absolutely incredible, from the slow build up, the superb lyrics , everything. The last few minutes of The Edge's guitar just kill me, can't listen without being left in tears
The lyrics are Genious, i first saw this when it was performed live on the tonight show. It woke me up, from a very dark time In my life. I am very grateful for that. I listen to u2 everyday, keeps me grounded.
"..Sometimes the air is so anxious All my thoughts are so reckless And all of my innocence has died Sometimes I wake at four in the morning When all the darkness is swarming And it covers me in fear..." In the last 3 weeks I've lost my job, my girlfriend for the last 7 years and I find myself in a city far away from my family and friends. Those words killed me... they describe perfectly my feelings right now

Gorgeous. 40 YEARS and they've still got it. Bono needs to get his hair sorted out. Other than that they are, and will probably forever be, the greatest band of all time.
When this band opens the taps, they're unstoppable. This is a classic example. Such a moving tune and it's the building momentum of the band that adds to that. Well played U2.

Yes or what their bosses kids THINK they want to hear because they are marketing the garbage to them. Anything to make a quick buck these days. Right now real quality music is just passed over often times for the masses to try and gain more imaginary readership. It is what it is but it's not what it seems. People will discover this album though it's a true U2 classic.
@@cahillgreg I respect your opinion. But from my point of view John Lennon and Paul McCartney were and are the best songwriters of all time. About The Beatles I disagree with you.
This is the greatest u2 song ever. Flying from the northside of Dublin to see them in Vegas at the end of the month. Would love to hear some songs of experience like this in the set. So current and powerful. Wow.
The sheer honesty and soul provoking truth that is expressed in this song makes me want to be a better person. I know the meaning of this song even though I am not worthy. Keep on keeping on u2. Beautiful
As Im going through a very painful time s, literally just sitting down along side of a road and sobbing having this on repeat. Magic of good music, there are songs like this, makes you want to scream your lungs out singing out out loud as you stare at the one who put you through a lot or you want to dedicate to. Sometimes…
It is written For there is not a man born among women greater than John the Baptist but, whoever is least in the kingdom of Heaven is greater than him. ❤
The night gave you song A light had been turned on You walked out in the world Like you belong there As easy as a breeze Each heart was yours to please Is it only me who sees There’s something wrong there Oh la la, I’m not a ghost now I can see you You need to see me It’s the little things that give you away The words you cannot say Your big mouth in the way I saw you on the stairs You didn’t notice I was there That’s 'cause you were talking at me and Not to me You were high above the storm A hurricane being born This freedom it might cost you your liberty It’s the little things that give you away The words you cannot say Your big mouth in the way It’s the little things that tease and betray As the hunted I become the prey It’s the little things The little things that give you away Sometimes I can't believe my existence See myself from a distance I can’t get back inside Sometimes the air is so anxious All my thoughts are so reckless And all of my innocence has died Sometimes I wake at four in the morning When all the darkness is swarming And it covers me in fear Sometimes, sometimes, sometimes Sometimes I'm full of anger and grieving So far away from believing That any song will reappear Sometimes the end is not coming It’s not coming The end is here Sometimes Sometimes, sometimes, sometimes Sometimes when the painted glass shatters And you’re the only thing that matters But I can’t see you through the tears Sometimes the end is not coming It’s not coming The end is here Sometimes
I absolutely love you U2. You are the only band that has been together for 40 years and still have the same members. I knew when heard you for the first time I knew that you would go far and keep going. I love this song. LOVE LOVE LOVE
Nothing gets in the way, inspiring ,crafted, presented and full for us who are still here, 40 years i have grown up been inspired by the band and the Spirituality of being A Dub, Irish and proud ❤
And don't know, but Bono's voice brings me a kind of peace, like angels singing... I can't explain, just feel. For me, the most beautiful is Eddie Vedder's voice, but as I've said, this kind of peace when I listen to Bono singing...
Totally agree. Every Breaking Wave was a great song, I also really liked California (There is no end to love). But I have to say Cedarwood Road was my favourite from their last album. This is absolutely my favourite from Songs of Experience. The beginning is just superb. I'm so glad this recording is available on Spotify as I prefer it much more over the album version.
I gotta admit it, SOE is a fine U2 album. Best album since Atomic Bomb. Easily. I've gotten used to the idea that they're not 20 anymore. They're almost 60. Never again will they make another War, Joshua Tree or Achtung Baby. With that in mind, I've actually enjoyed the album. It's mature and there are some really good songs on it. Sure, I miss the urgency of albums like Boy and War, the candor of TJT and the experimentations of Achtung Baby, Zooropa and Pop. But in terms of quality songwriting and pure emotion, SOE delivers.
Since 1983 I have had posters on my wall as a young boy. Always inspiring emotion and good even through tough topics. My best band of all time. I feel so lucky to know their music as I do.And, they still push new sound, new songs, new vibe. They are the best!!
This is so U2's style.....So, unique, impressive, moving, captivating, inspiring! I am always so drawn into the passion that these stunning men artistically create and express! Rock on boys.... Love you always...👏
Every so-called music critic just loves to dismiss U2 and call them every disparaging adjective they can think of. And then U2 creates a song like this. This ought to shut up a few non-believers. The last 2 albums they've released are as good, or better, as any they've released prior. And far better than the vast majority of ear-candy crap most bands churn out. Each time I listen to a new U2 album, it feels like getting an infusion of plasma. The songs on Songs of Innocence as well as on Songs of Experience are thoughtful, well-crafted, experimental, classic, rocking, or pop-infused. They've managed to remain true to their musical core while not shying away from contemporary influences. It makes me proud. No rock band has ever managed to stay together and stay relevant as long as U2 has. I hope they keep it up. I can see a day when they stop touring, but I can't imagine a day when they stop making music. Bravo boys. Thank you for the brilliant songs all these years now. It got me through some hard times, and still does.
Like when i saw them on a Tv in 1987 singing with or without you ,,, They have the ability to mistify you with their sound ,, capture your soul with their notes ,, perhaps its each musician making the best ,, but theirs no other band that can do this ,,
This is a very special tune that goes to some profound melodic and lyrical places. And I adore how Adam and Larry are just driving the last half so intensely

So much better than the Beatles.
@@cahillgreg I respect your opinion. But from my point of view John Lennon and Paul McCartney were and are the best songwriters of all time. About The Beatles I disagree with you.
@@auroramenegatti7695 No fucking way, U2 has surpassed the Beatles.
for me this is one of the best u2 songs in the past 10 years.
This is the greatest u2 song ever. Flying from the northside of Dublin to see them in Vegas at the end of the month. Would love to hear some songs of experience like this in the set. So current and powerful. Wow.
Northsider here, went to see them in October. First time in Vegas, absolutely unbelievable
Im crying ❤
The sheer honesty and soul provoking truth that is expressed in this song makes me want to be a better person. I know the meaning of this song even though I am not worthy. Keep on keeping on u2. Beautiful
@U2 in all there instruments and the voice off Bono.
Very nice and touching song ❤😊
As Im going through a very painful time s, literally just sitting down along side of a road and sobbing having this on repeat. Magic of good music, there are songs like this, makes you want to scream your lungs out singing out out loud as you stare at the one who put you through a lot or you want to dedicate to. Sometimes…
Great song. The best song of their last album.
Love U2 ,love Bono ,love my u2family around The world.
It is written For there is not a man born among women greater than John the Baptist but, whoever is least in the kingdom of Heaven is greater than him.
❤
Diversity Amen

The night gave you song
A light had been turned on
You walked out in the world
Like you belong there
As easy as a breeze
Each heart was yours to please
Is it only me who sees
There’s something wrong there
Oh la la, I’m not a ghost now
I can see you
You need to see me
It’s the little things that give you away
The words you cannot say
Your big mouth in the way
I saw you on the stairs
You didn’t notice I was there
That’s 'cause you were talking at me and Not to me
You were high above the storm
A hurricane being born
This freedom it might cost you your liberty
It’s the little things that give you away
The words you cannot say
Your big mouth in the way
It’s the little things that tease and betray
As the hunted I become the prey
It’s the little things
The little things that give you away
Sometimes I can't believe my existence
See myself from a distance
I can’t get back inside
Sometimes the air is so anxious
All my thoughts are so reckless
And all of my innocence has died
Sometimes I wake at four in the morning
When all the darkness is swarming
And it covers me in fear
Sometimes, sometimes, sometimes
Sometimes I'm full of anger and grieving
So far away from believing
That any song will reappear
Sometimes the end is not coming
It’s not coming
The end is here
Sometimes
Sometimes, sometimes, sometimes
Sometimes when the painted glass shatters
And you’re the only thing that matters
But I can’t see you through the tears
Sometimes the end is not coming
It’s not coming
The end is here
Sometimes
Wow just breathtaking..after all these years to be able to produce songs like that..is astonishing
That's a masterpiece! Congrats U2 !!!
And don't know, but Bono's voice brings me a kind of peace, like angels singing... I can't explain, just feel. For me, the most beautiful is Eddie Vedder's voice, but as I've said, this kind of peace when I listen to Bono singing...
This is such a great song. To me beside Every Breaking Wave the best song from the last two albums...
I totally agree
IMO "Cedarwood Road" and "Iris" are even superior, but yeah this is a very good song :)
Good tastes brother I agree, and we need to talk
This is their Golden Slumbers . Carry that weight .. The end... Bellissimo!! Love the rhythm section in this
2019 TEARING SHIT UP LIKE IT'S 1979..... FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS..... BONO, EDGE, ADAM & LARRY
I absolutely LOVE this song! The music and slow build with a crescendo at the end is extraordinary! Cannot wait to hear it live next year.
Rachel Hawkins same here.I love this song.can't wait to see the in October
Rachel Hawkins 🔝🔝🔝
Hopefully it makes it onto the setlist, as they haven't played it yet :(
Es la mejor banda del mundo
True greatness finds ways to evolve and keeps going
When played live, this is their best track in 20 years. The'yre still capable of transcendence.
後半の高揚感が私を何処までも連れて行ってくれる。鳥になり空を駆け抜け天にも昇る気分。最高です✨✨✨
I agree. Hi from Ohio USA
X 2 😎✌️
u2 are so good... they can't do nothing bad... everything is top quality
Since 1983 I have had posters on my wall as a young boy. Always inspiring emotion and good even through tough topics. My best band of all time. I feel so lucky to know their music as I do.And, they still push new sound, new songs, new vibe. They are the best!!
One of Bono’s finest lyrics. Thats saying something!
nah, bonos best one is bishop tutu a man like bishop tutu while the peacemakers of the west argue and fight, thats my fav bono lyric
This is so U2's style.....So, unique, impressive, moving, captivating, inspiring! I am always so drawn into the passion that these stunning men artistically create and express! Rock on boys.... Love you always...👏
Es magnífica la sensación que te produce una canción de estos tipos. Gigantes!!! U2 lo mejor de todos los tiempos
It's about time that U2 should be taught as a legendary subject in Music schools all across the world....
Cannot stop listening to this beautiful song! What an outstanding piece of art! Giving me goosebumps all the time. Thank you, U2! ♥

Impressionante a capacidade do U2 em lançar otimas musicas, é admirável. U2 Forever
Like when i saw them on a Tv in 1987 singing with or without you ,,, They have the ability to mistify you with their sound ,, capture your soul with their notes ,, perhaps its each musician making the best ,, but theirs no other band that can do this ,,
Fantastic, professional and at the same time very emotional song. Masterpiece by the BEST ROCK BAND EVER!
This is a very special tune that goes to some profound melodic and lyrical places. And I adore how Adam and Larry are just driving the last half so intensely
U2 gets better and better everyday in my heart, l love them.
Totally brilliant. Beautiful, majestic, best song from U2 for years.
Best song they've written since 2000.
Right after Moment of Surrender
I can't.... This song is just.... too good.
Absolutely fuckin brilliant. Greatest band on the planet . God bless U2 😎😎✌✌🎸🎸💚🇮🇪
Gorgeous, *GORGEOUS!* Loved them as a kid, lov them even more today, what a stunning band!
The most wonderful band in the whole world through all the times!!!
U2 the best
I love the piano and the solo guitar Edge you are the best thing about U2 I love
Love , The Best Band of the World !
That solo....... no words enough.... I'd have to compose the worlds best guitar solo to tell you my emotions about that solo
