I'm currently digitizing my copy of the Woodstock 99 weekend... all 65 hours of it. I originally tried those VHS to DVD recorders, but wasn't happy with the quality. I've since gotten better equipment, and better captures. But when it comes to the audio, I have a Sony DVD player with 3 levels of dynamic range compression, and the one with the least amount sounds amazing with the discs. But I simply cannot recreate it in Davinci. Enabling the basic compressor does sound better, but nowhere near as good as the Sony player. I even tried ripping from the discs then interleaving with the captures... it went out if sync about 30 minutes into it. 😋
oh wow that's really interesting. I've had lots of requests to transfer VHS but i've never dove into trying it. Just digital recordings. I bet those are some epic videos though.
