    Thanks, Jason. That really helped. I appreciate that the advice wasn't too technical as I can get lost quickly. This was something I can implement immediately.

    As a mixer on many docos I'm always dealing with dialog EQ. My tip is to start with subtraction not boost. Lav mics and boom mics in roomy environments have ugly chest or room resonance, usually around 200hz. With a narrow notch (bell) reduce that frequency first. It is amazing how that first step increases clarity. You can tune the frequency by first adding boost and sweeping the frequency till you hear the resonance of the frequency that is making the sound muddy. Then reduce gain at that frequency. Next step can be high pass to filter rumble then play with boost in higher frequencies. You will use less hi boost when you've tidied up the mud first. Also be aware you might need a tight notch around sibilance which sits around 6khz. Often a specific 'de-ess' plugin might be best used to fix this.

      Also -- lowpassing music in the 10K-12K range can be a much better/transparent way of fitting dialogue in (as opposed to just ducking volume).

    This is great. There's one RUclipsr whom I have watched stream for a few years now where it sounds just like this in their streaming videos. They have voiceover gaming streams and during the streams could definitely stand to have an EQ applied to their voiceover. I'm guessing they have a lav mic for stream and something a little more robust for regular videos. Or maybe they just didn't figure out how to apply the EQ in their live streaming software.

      Voice Isolation would help a ton with your wind noise. I’d also try to get a good dead cat for your microphone if you could, that will help get a cleaner recording.
      If you decide to use voice, isolation, you might want to leave a little bit of background noise in there, it might sound weird if it’s only your voice with no wind at all in the background. But maybe not. I’ll have a video coming out soon on how to keep some background noise using voice, isolation, but lower the volume of that background noise. 😜

There’s a great plug-in from Waves called DeReverb that works good on reverb. You could also try an expander or gate, it’s not gonna remove the river, but it can help make it less noticeable between words or phrases.

      Hey! No worries at all, I will double check to make sure that the way forms are turned on in your timeline view options. Also, the wave forms are a type of cache file. I would try clearing out your cache file directories and see if that helps, and maybe give resolve a restart once you clear out the cache files.

    As always to the point but i have a question, if i automate the EQ for SFX in my video and if i need to start from 0 what should i do?, i had a problem in which if i want to reset the automated EQ all the work i made remain in that way i just cant reset to put the EQ line straight again.

      Yes, you can do that. I'll have a video about Automation coming out soon, I'll show you how to do it. 😜 You are able to edit individual points along the automation.

    Awesome where’s the EQ? It’s not showing in my mixer ?

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  5 месяцев назад

      Make sure you’re in the Fairlight tab. If you are, click on the three dots at the top right of the mixer and make sure that EQ is turned on. Leslie scroll up and down in the mixer above the fader and it should be there.

    Wondering if you can tell me how to remove the dialogue from chatty tourists ruining my wildlife video?

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  3 месяца назад

      Hi! You can remove the voices by using either the Dialogue Separator or the Music Remixer. One of them should do the trick.
