From the mighty B58 M140i to this disgrace. Heck even the F40 M135i has better Performance. I dont even like the new Design of the F70...Am I too harsh?
Nope not too harsh at all. The B58 is literally one of the greatest inline 6 engines ever built, people even compare it to the legendary 2JZ. To go from that to this 4 banger… what a letdown.
Crying won't help you. You don't know their reasons to ditch that engine for this car. It didn't need it anyways whether you like it or not this is the perfect engine for this car.

Most other cars in this category have 3 or 4 cylinder engines and only the RS3 and Focus have 5 cylinder engines. Face it BMW have messed up the new 1 Series big time.
To summarize: it looks worse than the F40, it's slower than the F40, it sounds quieter than the F40 and the pops & bangs over the speakers also seem to be more obnoxious than in the F40.
Has better tech than the F40, better chassis than the F40, better brakes, it's safer, more comfortable oh and it did that while actually being cheaper than the F40
@@dertobi257its not cheaper at all, its less confortable as there are no more adaptative dampers, more tech but losing the iDrive control, its literally the same chassis as its exactly the same platform, less performanfe losing 50nm of par, 4 exhaust pipes to sound like a Dyson… ah yeah the brakes, they’re exactly the same as the ones in the F40, only better on a extra that cost 4k on a already 65k car😂 Trying to defend an F40 its hard, but this car? No it‘s slower I guess. The „old“ one has 450 Nm and the new one „only“ 400 Nm. The 100-200 time is almost the same as the 128ti. But the 0-100 time is still impressive.
Well done BMW the engine choice is perfect for this car as it rival's golf R,A35 AMG and the Audi S3. The only thing that they can improve on is the gearbox the 8 speed ZF engine would do well in this car.
Before you all go complaining how BMW has fallen, please do consider that this car has become cheaper than the last generation, while being forced into much stricter emissions regulations. This car being worse, sound wise, has allowed for the straight 6 and V8 to live on. And also please don't forget that the new chassis and brakes have improved this car much more than 20 extra hp would.

F40 was at least somehow designed and different compare to F20. They switched totally platform and made a new car. Except of the seats which were taken from X1,X2,X3 previous gen everything was basically new and you could spec it very nice. F70 looks ugly. Like Fiesta. M135 does a bit better but all the things with fake exhaust sound on top ruin the final results. They burned working hours for nothing because F40 could stay in the market for next 2-3 years. But at least marketing department is busy now.
I have the previous m135i and for me its the best.. bmw m140 fan boys need to get a life. It looks well better, has more space, practical and is a all round better car.. as for this tho! 🤦♂️ absolute shite.
