    Bruh ...spin it around, switch the rails for each set, and go small to big. Only issue is writing will be upside down.

    At 22:11 you are talking about how you want the sockets to go in ascending from left to right. Just rotate the tray 180 degree and you are set.

    • @lonestarmopars
      @lonestarmopars  2 года назад

      I tried...sadly that opens up more issues...you can see them later in the video. It works as is, but could be better. Killer aesthetics, even with the 13-14mm gap. If I run the set out to 24mm, I'll switch them over and use this tray for chromes.

      @fordm21 2 года назад +1

      With the tray upside-down move the 22mm all the way to the right and shift everything over. You'll have two open spaces for a 6 and 7mm but they'll all fit with no gap between 13 and 14mm

    Turn the try around front to back and poof, it’s in your order. How hard was that? 😂

    Cool. I just picked up the Astro nano 3/8" drive long metric set. It's 6-24mm with no skips and you can put a 17mm wrench on them...they're like a dream.

    As of the date I’m writing this comment Amazon still has the metric shallow and deep 8mm-22mm set for $59.99. Bought mine 2 days ago and can’t wait to try them out. Seems like a good value.

    Mopar fan here. Capri expecting me to keep tool receipts to get warranty, not my thing. Who keeps receipts for tools ? For 30 years ?

    Leave one peg open on each end, or 2 on the small ams stick an adaptor, wobble, or extension on the open pegs. I dont see much need for 23 and 24 in 3/8 or a 6 and 7 but thats just my opinion. I like throwing an adaptor and wobble joint on my rails if i have space

    Damn I order their 3/8 master set direct.. it doesn't come woth the tray. I should've order from home depo, theirs come with the tray for only like $15 more

    I don't know, the sockets look pretty sweet in the trays. I wish they would have offered those trays back in the day, I would have set up my box a lot different.

    • @lonestarmopars
      @lonestarmopars  2 года назад +1

      Oh yeah, I love the tray aesthetically...and their blue is solid. I'm still rocking them like this, but may switch to something else. If so, the Westling will get chrome sockets. You can buy full sets from Westling and save a pretty good amount...they are also very reasonably priced considering almost every other competitor is plastic, or has plastic pegs.

    Can this socket set be used on a hand ratchet?

  • @MarzNet256
    @MarzNet256 Год назад

    That is kind of a bummer. I think the spacing was based on thinner walled chrome sockets. Also, I run my SAE impact sockets big to small (L to R and F to B), the reverse of my metric sets so I can quickly distinguish them from one another.

    It should be possible to get rid of the gap if you place the biggest sockets on the right again. And then the two empty spaces are on the left side. There is maybe another reason for this type of tray with the gap on the smaller side. I am german and so metric is my daily system. And some 3/8 ratcheting sets are starting with 6 mm. But personally I would prefer such small sizes in 1/4". My 1/4" impact sockets are going from 6 to 14 mm.

    • @lonestarmopars
      @lonestarmopars  2 года назад

      I believe that would work, but since they have 23 and 24mm available and not 6 and 7mm it creates that issue. I think I will eventually expand the set and go with a different rail and use this for chrome sockets. It is a nice product and I love the aesthetics. I do agree with you on using 1/4" Drive for the smaller sizes, but if you were trying to get by on a budget, having the 3/8" Drive set to cover is a nice option. The German efficiency with 10-13-17-19 would certainly make things much easier, lol. I'll eventually add 1/4" Drive impact sockets...1/2" and 3/8" are my main focus given that is what I will use the most. You just might see some German impact sockets in a few weeks ;)

    If I was you I would pick up a 6 and 7mm shallow and deep to go with that tray! Excellent overview buddy, I’ve wanted a Westling Machine socket tray for a long time!

      @lonestarmopars  2 года назад +1

      Thanks...it is just as nice a tray as I had hoped. The blue is a really nice shade. Sadly, Capri doesn't have a 6 and 7, but I would like to at least snag a 7. I'd do them both in 1/4" Drive, but right now I only have 3/8" and larger pneumatic/cordless so the 1/4" has to wait. Expanding the 3/8" drive up and down is a cheap fix for the short term, lol.

    i was struggling to remember why people like to buy the makita xps ones... but i think its because they are thin walled impact sockets, which is a style a bit harder to find. is that correct? maybe i am misremembering that though, or other brands have since come out with thin wall variety

    • @lonestarmopars
      @lonestarmopars  2 года назад +1

      These are pretty thin in my opinion...I'm more accustomed to really thick sidewalls (expensive sockets and their cheap counterparts). I think these will have a bit of upside being slightly thinner walled, especially as 3/8" drive where they will mainly just be on a ratchet.

  • @tadejfu

    dude why don't you just turn the damn thing and presto you have the sockets left to right

    • @lonestarmopars
      @lonestarmopars  2 года назад

      Oh I tried...I tried everything. Just way later in the video...42 mins and beyond. They don't make a 6 or 7, but have 23 and 24mm. I flipped it to have the 8-24 layout I wanted, but there is interference at 13-14. Leaving a gap, or moving them all down 1 peg kills the ability to add the 23 and 24. I currently still have them with the gap since I haven't expanded the set any. Works fine, just sucks to have the vacant peg between 13 and 14.

      @robert5c 2 года назад

      @@lonestarmopars did you try having tray roatated 180 deg and two empty pegs on the left side?
      Instead of starting at the far left peg and needing a gap, skip two then start. This leaves the same two end pegs empty like you had when the tray was not rotated but sizing went large to small.

    Good review man. I’m looking for an affordable 3/8 metric impact socket set. I may just go with deep to save funds. I missed out on the gearwrench amazon sales for full deep metric set for $30-35 before. With Capri raising their prices also get with tekton, I will no longer support them

    How are you liking these at this point?

    • @lonestarmopars
      @lonestarmopars  2 года назад

      While I haven't used the metric a ton, I have used the SAE quite a bit. So far, so good. I like that they are chrome moly and relatively thin walled. For 1/2" drive I like a bigger slug, but since I pretty much just use these on a ratchet, they are great. Only complaint is still that I prefer a chamfer on the drive end. This is also a short term review...not sure how they will fair over 5-10 years, but no issues thus far. If it is worth anything, you will have a really hard time matching the comprehensiveness of the set with the low price point. Just a solid buy all around imo.

    Hmmm is it an error on the tray or socket manufacturing I wonder. Thanks for going so into detail!

    • @lonestarmopars
      @lonestarmopars  2 года назад +1

      That can only mean you made it to the end of the video, lol. Thanks for sticking around. There are a lot of possibilities...it could be the tray was intended for chrome sockets and these just sport enough more material to cause issues. It could also be that the tray is 6-22, or 8-19 with accessories? Since Capri doesn't offer the 6-7mm, but has 23-24mm it would make me think the tray should work 8-24, but that leaves open the question of why don't they just sell an 8-24 set since they have those 2 bigger sizes?
      I've used the sockets a bit over the 5-6 weeks since I filmed that and have been pretty happy with them, although I do miss the drive end chamfer. No real wear concerns and they look killer every time I open the drawer...aside from the 13-14 gap, lol. For the sale price, getting this size of a set with the tray it all sort of offsets.

      Probably should...always trying to catch up and get ahead. I have videos stacked now, but never know when I will get busy at work and have things run dry. Worst thing about right now is that I've been on a big organization kick since around Thanksgiving and so many of those videos need others released first since it would spoil some of the recent scores. Should have just showcased everything with my old Craftsman stuff, although that is also counterproductive.
