They never were required to look back that far. They didn’t have to look back any further than ten years, and they know it. Glad the legislature is taking it out of the registrar’s hands now though.
sad part about this the RMV in Massachusetts has way to much power over the courts if the courts suspend your license the even on a first offense the RMV has the right to revoke it kinda crazy if you ask me you messed up paid your debt to society your still punished from the RMV fact
THIS WAS originally DONE IN RETALIATION because in July, Teamsters President Sean O’Brien took an unprecedented step in appearing on the Republican gatherings after the abysmal performance by Harris. O’Brien took a lot of heat from Democrats before taking the stage at the Republican National Convention in July, during which he slammed “elites” whose only “loyalty is to the balance sheet.” Over the course of next few week the DEI hire Secretary of Transportation ORDERED the DMV to revoke the CDL's of these drivers. They received the letters in August 3 weeks later.
Those licenses where revoke under federal rules and the sates passing of any new law will not matter as state law does not superseded federal laws. CDLs are issued under federal authority this is a nation wide sweep that came out a while ago and took effect this year. These drivers have been aware of this since the inception of the so called "FMCSA DRUG & ALCOHOL CLEARING HOUSE" States where ordered to do these checks starting two years ago and report back to the FMCSA (how has full authority over all CDLs) this rule was published some time ago these guys knew it was coming and did nothing about it but take the wait and see approach. CDLs where down graded to passenger class licenses so they can still work and drive this story wrongly makes it sound like they lost their licenses all together. This is not the case they can still drive they just cant drive CMVs. It does not prevent them from seeking other work outside transportation or trucking there are plenty of other jobs out there
Yeah Massachusetts is one of the worst states I've ever been in John Kelly put me away for 15 years for minding my own business very bad State God bless the world Jack from Maine
Except the state looses money when they do dumb stuff like this. They don’t gain anything. Less drivers with Massachusetts CDLs on the road means less Massachusetts CDL holders making money, which means less income tax being generated for the state. Massachusetts businesses that are impacted by this are also making less money which also leads to less tax revenue for the state.
This state is insane
Then leave, don’t come back
@@covcanadano we have a say on this matter the wee the people too

Don't blame the registry for following the law that was in place. The law was flawed.
So they are punishing many because of *ONE?* I've *NEVER,* and I mean *NEVER EVER* seen the DMV action so quickly.

So rewarding bad behaviour?
I’m sure you always make a complete three second stop at every stop sign, and never go more than 1mph over the limit, right?
Bad behavior that happened over 20 yrs ago. Did you hear where she mentioned federal doesn't even go past 10yrs?
There were drivers about to get their licenses pulled for stuff they did in the 1980’s.
Why not just train and hire brand new HS graduates 🎓? Who are interested I. This job.
Today’s kids who are hard workers all want a work/life balance. You will not find that driving a truck.
