My husband dragged me on the fishing trip/meet up you guys organized, and I had no idea who you both were. But we had the loveliest time and you both are so incredibly kind and the most down to earth people! Thanks for all the hard work you guys do! Now a fan :)
I knew they were awesome people. It really shows through the wholesomeness of every single upload they have ever posted. So jealous you got to meet them and angle as well!
Jocelyn is like a child finding easter eggs..❤
I was REALLY good at finding Easter eggs as a kid 😂
Tip #6 get you a joselyn if you want spot mushrooms or clams.
Tip #1 If I have me one of those joselyns we ain't leaving the room
Fire areas are definitely good, but any sort of disturbance will do it. Once found an area they were doing a bunch of Cat work in for some reason, Dad and I filled a paper grocery bag full in about 10 minutes. Was a good way to turn around a poor day of turkey hunting.
And yeah, that WAS a big ass pinecone. LOL
Over here in BC I'm working near a burn zone from last years Shuswap fire and every day after work I go out for a couple hours and pick Morels. Picked 10 pounds yesterday. They're an incredible mushroom. Duck bone broth morel mushroom soup was for dinner last night. So good.
Taku, fun fact about the elevation thing. The reason the morels higher up the mountain were fresh and the ones lower were dry and old was because morels only grow when the ground temperature is around 45-60 degrees. Any less or more and they will not grow. Lower elevation warmed up earlier in the spring and higher up still had some piles of snow that helped with moisture and ground temps for morels to grow later into the spring. Hope this helps.
Love seeing both of my top favourite fishermen sharing a meal. I really would love to see you guys colab one day.
I still cannot believe you aren’t at a million followers or more because you two are amazing. I know you will be there soon though. You do such a great job of blending together teaching, foraging, fishing/hunting with the best looking catch and cook meals I have ever seen. Thank you!
Jocelyn is a beast at finding morels!
Love the Kelp Chili Crisp shout out at the end. Taku, I bought my first jar the day you mentioned it on your channel. Since then I’m probably on my 20th jar. It’s the most incredible topping or ingredient. It’s always in our house. Just thought I’d give a shout out to KCC too! P.S. I grew up hunting and fishing near Fisherman’s Life’s property and do a lot of the saltwater fishing now too.
Love seeing you two hunt for morels! I've always wanted to try doing that, and the truffle-digging you both did in an older video. Also have been loving the kelp chili crisp, I've recently been having them on eggs, it's so good for breakfast! My husband loves the extra spicy one you released. Keep up the wonderful videos Taku, and I hope you and Jocelyn hold more fan meetups in the future!☺
I love the Fisherman's Life collabs!
Look at the other dude, two of my favorite outdoors gurus… “hey bro… no avocado 🥑 😂😂” funny how cautiously is about to promote his place on T’s video 😂😂 that shows respect 🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 nice video bro.
I love that you guys support each other! I love seeing Mats!
@OutdoorCheflife Great to see you and Mats linking up as always, good u we're u camping @ Mats as well.
Salivating badly! I love all mushrooms. The plating is so beautiful made. Thanks so much for sharing your endeavors with us. Always looking forward to your next adventure/videos!
Dang... two of my fave RUclipsrs in one video. I love it
Foraging mushrooms/morels is a skill i need to attain.
Pharrell - for real
should be a required class in high school lmao

Mannnn..I just had lunch, but I'm salivating over your dish. That crunch though...🤤
The key to success is as Jocelyn cus you missed them all taku
Dude I have missed your mushroom content with all of your traveling! I’m so excited! Not that I don’t like the fishing either, mushrooms just feel like presents.
For those who are curious about morels, I have a buddy that just started harvesting morels in Northern California ( Lassen County) and he stir fried them in butter and garlic. Omg! They’re so delicious I was surprised how flavorful they were. The taste is unique compared to the white or brown store bought mushrooms I’m comfortable eating.
Anyways, besides that, great video as always Taku! Glad you posted this about morel mushrooms cause I just recently ate some and wanted let viewers know my experience with them.
Theyre an amazing mushroom. My childhood was a light flour coating and a butter fry. Now that I'm in South FL there's basically no edibles here lol. See if there's any mushroom growers in your area, FB is a good start, and definitely try "Lions mane" or "Bears tooth"...any of the hericium. They taste like lobster/crab!
Hey man, you got me into mushroom foraging this year. I’ve found oysters, morels, chants, Chx of the woods. But after talking to some experts here in ATL, I’ve learned there are a lot of less popular mushrooms that taste amazing, like Rodmani. You should do a video on some less popular mushrooms. 🤙🏾 Preciate you for putting me on!
It's so nice to c u guys together again!! The dish looks awesome!! Hope J feels better soon😊
In KY we always find Morrells in dapple shade, where sun peeks through. There is always Mayapple flowers around.
and number #6 listen to ur girl she knows where the best spots are quit being so big headed she knew all along where the mother load was LOL loved it bro great haul great find thanks for the tips !!!!!!!!!!
I love love love the kelp chili crisp!! Compliments everything !
So awesome. Absolutely love it
Haven’t seen you 2 together in a minute. We need a video with you guys and philosophy D.
Good ole times 🥲
Yooo Fisherman's Life AND Outdoor Chef Life in one Video? Gah~ Now all we Need it Hero Takada and we would have the Big 3!~
looks so good, amazing video
Those look awesome!! Great to see Matt up there!!
Love your videos! Morel mushrooms are so yummy. Glad you guys found so many.
I buy dried morels and grind them into a powder and add to soups/stock and also add as a seasoning to certain recipes.
I bought a kelp chili crisp…can’t wait to try it. I love spice & umami flavors so I’m sure I’ll be a returning customer.
Awesome 👏 keep finding it.
taku this is one of the best dishes i've seen you plate in a long time. so beautiful.
Elaine and i heading out for them this weekend. This video came just in time ❤
Cool episode, with a great lesson on how to pick morels. BTW, I use your kelp chili crisp when I make a savory oatmeal. I also put in a relish in it, too. To make the relish, I use your pickling recipe and then put diced jalapeno, red onion, and carrot in the brine.
Mahalo for this video!
I made a jalapeño, cream cheese stuffed morels. I dipped them in batter and fried them. Yummy 😋
I'd up it a notch with a bacon wrapped morel with the filling. Then batter and fry.❤
Awesome video, love morels! Favorite way to eat them is sauteed in butter then flambé with cognac then make a sauce out of them with cream and beef bouillon. Add fresh herbs. Top all that over a sliced prime beef tenderloin roast (rare of course). Pork tenderloin works great as well.
Just went out this year for the first time ever to hunt for morels and we found some really nice ones. When it came time to clean, I noticed little bugs coming out of them and was put off because there were sooo many little small bugs that kept coming out. I soaked them a few times with a little vinegar in the water. I’m glad that you said this shouldn’t be a problem. I’ll man up next time! Love your videos man!
taku you should get the insta 360 x4 camera, give the youtubers a new viewing experience and plus you won't miss any shots. plus the viewer can use the mouse to view any angle on the screen.
Bravo chef 👏
Wish to see more collab with Fishmans life. It's like seeing Hulk Hogan and Ultimate warrior together.
Love the foraging content
Have you seen the news about cultivated morels? They've figured it out! Hunting is a lot of fun, but I'm looking forward to seeing them on store shelves too. The researchers say they are dirt cheap to cultivate, too.
Your juk recipe is very good.
A truly good comfort food.
Looks bussin
I’ve never seen any and thanks would love to find and try some
Awesome video
Matt's channel led me to you and now I watch you more often.
love the Fisherman's Life brief colab
Great video as always. Just avoid touching undercooked morels with your brush and dipping it back into the chili crisps
Unreal! You both found the gold mine of morels. You both definitely put in the work to find them. I’ve been trying here on the East Coast in New Jersey and have yet to find one. Not easy!
Anyways, the video was amazing and the food so good! add that to the cookbook for sure!
One of my goals is to cook a meal with guys 💪
Taku thought you knew about south facing slopes buddy , that’s true in even shed hunting 👍
This was awesome. If you do know how to forage for wild mushrooms, you have a very tasty treat, for free. My dad and his brothers were very good at foraging for wild mushrooms on his farm in Alberta, Canada. One of my other uncles was slso good at foraging for wild mushrooms. They were really good when they were cooked up. I even have a cookbook, from a Ukrainan Canadian author, and it has a section dedicated to identifying wild mushrooms that are edible. It's good to learn about foraging for wild mushrooms and wild edibles. The dish you made with the wild mushrooms looks great. Cheers, Taku and Jocelyn! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️
Wow great harvest you know how
Taku! Please rinse then dehydrate all of your extras! They make amazing stock additions!
Delicious bro 👏
You gotta pour the beer on the side of the cup (angle your cup for the beer to flow on the side) to reduce that amount of foam.
Nice video Taku....that has to be your most humorous beer chug. I give you a 8 on the Taku Beer Chug Meter
Yay for morel season , I don’t think we get there here in Australia but they sound delicious 💜 from 🇦🇺
Taku I would love to see you include pine nuts in a recipe sometime!! Great videos!!
Tree species is SUPER important for natural morels. Looks like you got a few species there. I think I see Tridentina, snyderi and brunnea maybe?
Favorite memory of my childhood was picking morels on the family 100 acres. Hoping to find a few when I go next month, but I know Ill be a bit late for Indianas timing 😭.
Light saltwater soak, light flour coating, fry up in some butter....best thing youll taste hands down.
Edit for the iNaturalist shoutout: Love that app. As a NA Native fish enthusiast, it helps me find unique fish I'd like to observe and catch. Theyll even ID your animal, plant, mushroom... Great resource for any outdoors person!
We need that collab with fisherman’s life
Morels and Matts!!
I was wondering if you were going to make Morel season. Nice cook up!😁🍄
I have 2 months left in cali. Would love to chill
Here in Iowa the season is already over, luckily a friend found enough for a while because i only found 4 the entire season lol
Taku,
You are an awesome cook, it almost tempts me to give up my whole food ways, almost:)
Cheers,
Rik Spector 82 and going strong, so far.
I've never had a morel. I'd like to try and look for them.
Matt's channel led me to you are now I watch you more often.
What you got to stay with Matt! That’s so sick love it!
This idea made me drool 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤…looks fab!!!…where are your sunglasses from Jacklyn????..Brand?..you look stunning ❤
Look how scared fisherman’s life was to eat the mushrooms lol
ya that was so Funny
Morels the goat!!
No, they are fungi. Not mammals.
Try damp areas near creek beds, or side of hills that don't get much sunlight.
Hiiiii Mr. Taku. Hiiiiiii Miss Jocelyn!!! 😍🥰🍻🍺
6:50 yoooo lol that's funny
9:56 wow that footage is good that crispness/green in left middle area
You guys are awesome! Also where did you guys get the bowls Jocelyn was eating out of?
Greetings! your grill is so cute
I’m so early, God bless

Nice heap of butter on fisherman life’s property !!!! Iykyk
I hear wedding bells 😌 God bless you guys, hope you continue to enjoy eachother and create together.
They aren't already married?
Daaaang, THAT'S how you elevate congee.
My that looks so good I wish I could taste it lol
Taaaaakoooooooo 🎉🎉🎉❤❤
Finally some ssg related content
Taku, gotta trust Jocelyn’s intuition. She finds all the clams, and now all the mushrooms.
Hi Taku and Jocelyn. Fantastic vid and delish cook. We just got back from the Kelly Complex fire in No Cal and did pretty well with the morels too. But the Sierra mountains would be a lot closer for us. Would you mind saying which burn area (name of the fire) you were at? Thanks a bunch!
Wow Jocelyn still cant get a ring? 💍😒
Get him. She is definitely a keeper. Needs to stop playing lol.
They are not focusing on that lmao. She could also propose you know 🤡 what happens to “equality”?
this is great but always wonder how you resolve leaving the trail. I'm sure in this area you can't leave the trail for a variety of good reasons. I'm sure that's also clearly indicated.
Jocelyn has sniper vision. She’s such a G
My brother lives in Fallon NV 👍.
I hope you find a crop of them!
Enjoy🎉
JO JO IN VT 💞
The key to success I learned in this one is "Listen to Jocelyn."
Jocelyn is the Mushroom Whisperer.
The homies! 👍🏼
Can also guys try to do fiddleheads foraging
