    Here in the US, you can get a brand new driving iron, forged, bendable loft and lie, free assembly, built custom to spec, with a premium shaft, and changeable screw head weight for $65-$75 plus shipping from The Golfworks. Their stuff is unbelievable for the price. Boutique performance for pennies on the dollar.
    I built my brother a 3 iron with a Mitsubishi Kuro Kage X flex shaft. He loves it off the tee and says it’s surprisingly forgiving off the fairway.

    Thanks For Watching Guys! Just read the reviews after making this video and there has been a couple of complaints that the club broke after they used it... obviously mine didn't, but I didn't include the reviews in the video. Still think its good value if the head stays on haha.

      I tried the new version of this today ( v foil speed) and ended up buying one! The shaft may not be quite right (I generally use a 70g stiff in hybrids) but it wouldn’t cost much to change. It’s a great head and if I spend another 50 on a pulled shaft it’s still cheaper than a 10 year old equivalent 😁

    Coming to this video late... Some advice needed. I'm looking to replace a 21 degree hybrid I struggle to hit but striking my irons pretty good. Longest iron I have is a 5 iron, p760 at 25.5 degrees of loft. I'm hitting that 190 on the fly on a good strike. My driver is generally around 160mph ball speed on a gamer swing. Would you say this would work or should I look at say a g series crossover in a stiff shaft, my irons are stiff also?

      @@SASGolf There's an old driving/1-iron from Beauwood (the Eggshell driving iron) that can be found on eBay. I got it way back when (mid '90s) broke the original graphite shaft at the head (didn't realize there was a crack in the shaft when I bought it), got it re-shafted with a really good True Temper Dynamic Gold regular flex and the old Tacki-Mac arthritic oversize grip. Absolutely crushed the club yardage-wise and accuracy wise, 'til I popped the head off that sucker another 3 times before I stored it (worried that I would pop it off yet again). I miss that, but replaced it with a Ping Zing 1-iron for quite awhile. Unique design, for the time period ('90s), but like you said in this video, when you just feel the ball and hear that solid hit....nothing better.

    Are you going to check out the other MacGregor MacTec X stuff (adjustable driver, adjustable 3 wood, hybrid, wedges)? MacGregor used to be quality about 20+ years ago (I swear by their '94-5 Grass-N-Sand wedges), but I don't know who they're owned by anymore since I thought they went under after the NVG2/original MacTec irons back in 2000.

      @@SASGolf Yeah, I pondered getting my future step-son either the MacTec X driver or the wedges after seeing them on eBay and Amazon, as MacGregor used to be really solid stuff (I have their NVG2 9.5 driver I found at a thrift shop, the '94-5 Grass-N-Sand wedges, a '95 graphite-faced driving/1-iron, and the old '94-5 Mad Mac metal woods (just have the 3 & 5 wood, sold the driver to my college buddy after he broke his). However, the reviews for these new MacTec X's are not good to say the least.
      Definitely appreciate the video here, as I definitely was curious about the club you got, before I kind of am making the transition to hybrids (as I never hit them until a few weeks ago. Forgot I had a 5-hybrid from this massive 2 Callaway mini-staff bags full of clubs deal I got at an area thrift store back in '15). So, decided to get some Cobra Baffler Rail H's (4, 5) to try out, since after switching iron sets I wasn't happy with my striking on my long irons.

    I hit my 9 degree driver 300 on a clean hit, and hit my 21 degree 3 iron about 215 and have no issues getting it up in the air...I've been looking at getting a 2 iron to fill the gap in my clubs, because I don't typically hit my 3 wood very well and when I do, it's about 50 yards further than my 3 iron. There aren't that many 2 irons out there, and they all seem to be pricey. Will there be any advantage or disadvantage to getting an adjustable loft utility 3 iron and just dropping the loft to a 2 iron? I didn't know if there was really much difference in a utility iron vs a standard iron.

    • @juliomac8497

      What shaft in the 3i? I don't hit my driver 300 and had ping crossover driving iron that would finish at 260, year later I have 4i whit a graphite shaft Ive hit the same or typically the same as you say your 3i goes.

    • @dustinroberson1865
      @dustinroberson1865 Год назад

      @@juliomac8497 It's a KBS $ Taper. Don't remember the weight. The 3 iron is a 21 degree loft. Depending on the clubs that you have, a 4 hybrid would be anywhere from 19-21, and a game improvement 4 iron would be about the same. If that's the case, I definitely wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility.

    Golf clubs like many elite sports items are WAY overpriced and marketed to death with terms like 'new technology', 'more control', 'further', 'straighter'. The truth is 95%+ of golfers are persuaded to part with large sums of money by clever marketing and paid reviews, what their favourite pro uses, and bye gear based on looks and by club/brand status, peer perception acceptance etc and are willing to pay the cost to have the 'best' gear, that is in fact almost the exact same as last years gear, and the year before that.
    In short, you cannot really pay for more than a very very small increase in performance over your own capacity to perform. A very good golfer will still be a very good golfer with clubs from the early 2000s. A poor golfer will still be a poor golfer with top of the range brand new gear. Too many golfers look to pay for performance in their gear rather than work for performance in their game and it's worth billions annually!
