    Nicely done! Just two things:
    1. I wouldn't say pendant of the fell wind is worth those extra drops as it only works in cc. Nh have better options like beacon which would work nicely as there are hexwraiths and spirit hosts in the list (more sustain) or lightshard for extra cc burst. Another option is none and go with 2 drops and have priority in most of games (if I remember correctly about 30-35% people play with 1 drop).
    2. Hoarfrost is a nice spell but it's hard to cast for us and what nh is missing is some extra defense on enemy turns like shademist or seal (and both are easier to cast). We can try it with primodal but again it's bigger risk factor and our ghosties are already hitting nicely and we can generate rend by charging so it's not a must have spell for us.

    • @LakeyWargames
      @LakeyWargames  Год назад +2

      Thanks Adrian! Those are some nice notes. :)
      My main thinking behind the Pendant was my older list had nice success with 20 Reapers with a Lord Executioner hiding among them who provides the same bonus but only to 1 enemy unit. Pendant is kind of an upgrade because it's all enemy units within 3" so on the rare occasion you get to tag two enemies with it. It does feel really nice. I know it's only combat but that's never been too much of an issue for me because then if they're shooting into my Rasps just to counter it then they're not shooting at the Coach or my MSU Hexwraiths and there's a fair amount of healing access here to bring Rasps back. Of course here I don't have points for a Lord Exe but the Spirit Torment serves much better as a healing support hero aswell as the debuff piece all in one with the Pendant.
      You do make some excellent counter suggestions though and I do think they're all very nice substitutes depending on what might be needed in a local meta and counter what you play into most.
      On the count of Hoarfrost you're totally right with WOT it can lead to situations with it being overkill for sure. At the same time though who'd say no to having 2 attacks per model at up to rend -4 or more? :P hehe. I do heavily agree with you if I made the change in suggestion one and I no longer had the pendant, shademist is a much better all around protection due it effecting all damage not just combat.
      I do like to point out though that early game when Olynder is around she carries seal of shyish for that reason to help boost some survivability in the ranks. Don't forget that also due to the Dreadblade if you didn't plan on doing a double teleport at any turn Alwrach can always be your source of giving out Discorproate and the Dreadblade can copy it for free. Therefore in a turn with seal up you could have the chance to 5+ ward up to three units in a round for a single CP. So you can kind of get multiple seal effects up when the need arises for them. I know it's not as outrightly powerful or last as long but it can be better than nothing in the heat of the moments! ^^
      But I would totally agree that if anyone is finding the Rasps not surviving long enough that this change would be the first pit stop to make and focus on! :)

    • @adriansawicki3513
      @adriansawicki3513 Год назад +1

      @@LakeyWargames Yup, you're right with dreadblade. It would be great to have one for extra discorprotate (well sometimes it's hard to find points for him :p).
      As current ghb is magic heavy it's extra hard to cast hoarfrost as we don't have any real +x to casting (only Reiknor and he doesn't have access to this spell :

    • @LakeyWargames
      @LakeyWargames  Год назад +2

      Oh agreed he is a very niece pick for sure, I don't think I would take him for that alone but it's a nice choice to have because of the also teleport options and bits made available by the list he's already in. ^^
      You're very much right, in my head I'm always like I can 3D6 cast that spell but then I guess so can the enemy 3D6 unbind aswell as if they have any bonuses to unbinding ontop hehe. So it's always going to be risky. With the Rasps being as fragile as they are even with pendant support they will usually have lure being cast on them to keep ranks up but you're right on the rend front. Something else for a spell would be even more utility which is never a bad thing. :)
      Yeah you have to be sharp on what you're going into/getting charged by making sure there's nothing with enough reach to get him but in a fight vs enemies with a 1" reach you can be hidden in the 2nd rank of Rasps reaching over the top for his attacks aswell as pedant and that's where it shines best.
      Thanks, agreed this list really isn't too much of a fan of going toe to toe with anything for too long and really focuses on staying on the move and bringing down whole threats in one go at a time. It's not for everyone but it's alot of fun and quite effective once you get used to it. :)

       @LakeyWargames Yes, you're right in list with mr. fisherman dreadhallow only gains value. The teleport option of course is nice when we have option to make borders battle tactic (and just for move purpose). It's really nice to see a list different than 40+ blade rev + support heroes that works and give results!

      I wasn't planning on doing an out an out follow up of this exact list as the points aren't too drastic of a change. You can just shuffle a unit or two for more of what you like while keeping the core concept of the list the same. :)
      The combo is very much still alive and kicking and is my personal preferred style of gaming with NH. I love it and feel it's potential will always be a key factor just because regardless of the meta movement will always be a key part of winning and this is something this style of list offers in spades! ^^

      Hey@@LakeyWargames!
      So I've tried this list 4 times already, been toying with this concept for many months and I went to a game day (3 games) and another game on the side and I have some thoughts I'd like to share with you on the list and hear what you would suggest, of course.
      So overall, on the paper the list looks great and the combo is amazing. In-game, however, I've found it lacks alot of punch and is the epitome of a scalpel list. And since everything is relying on that 2+ for mortals, if you manage to set everything up, when you fail and you roll that 1 on either Olynder or the Coach, it feels devastating. I'm not sure in my current meta if it makes sense, would like to hear your thoughts yeah. So I've played games against Khorne (twice), Big Waagh and Sylvaneth (List with lots of monsters, Tree Lords, Durthu, Drycha, Warsong bomb, etc.). There's also alot of OBR, Stormcast null deploy shooting, Slaanesh shooting, Tzeentch classic GoS. The big lists.
      Here are some thoughts:
      - It lacks alot of punch: Granted the list is very hard to pilot and setup, I am still learning how to play well and many strats still elude me. But still, all the lists I play against have A LOT of wounds, and everything NH hits like paper. The Black Coach is always a joke how flat he falls on his damage and Hexwraiths are kinda bad (they're mainly there for speed and screening). There's nothing really reliable, aside from Hero Hammer. The punch we have in Emerald Host is when all heroes jump in on the countercharge and just delete whatever big target came in. It then leaves us vulnerable, however. So I'm wondering if a hero like Kurdoss would help as a true hammer. Awlrach is pretty alright in combat, I agree, but not as strong as Kurdoss.
      - The combo is still very luck dependent: What I like from this list vs the last one with Grimghast Reapers, is that you switched the teleport strategy to make it 100% reliable and not relying on a teleport spell in a counter-magic meta. I appreciate that. In all my games it was very hard to kind of setup and wait patiently for that moment when I can do the move. And twice in my games during that crucial moment, I got double-turned and everything kind of fell apart. I never got the chance to pull it off truly in all my 4 games. There's always something happening, like a double-turn, or the guy is just extremely screened well with chaff and I can't really reach in, etc.When you play against a good player, this is very hard to pull off. And in the event that everything works out perfectly? You still gotta roll that 2+. In my games, I've failed twice in a crucial moment. I rolled 1 on Olynder lifting the veil and I rolled 1 on the Coach release. This felt so bad. So overall, I'm thinking about switching to something more reliable to ping off heroes. Perhaps a unit of Craventhrone, accompanied with Awlrach to teleport.
      - It has no Cruciator in it :) I used to always run the Cruciator in all of my lists, he bring so much durability with the -1 damage aura. I got alot of strong hitters in my meta and I really feel like he is essential to survive. We're not that durable and those armies that are gaining popularity in this season, like Big Waagh, are 2damage on everything hitting you, aside from Megabosses. It makes such a huge difference when you can reduce that buff. It makes you really that much more durable. So like, I'm thinking of trying to switch heroes around to include a Cruciator again. I could've lasted twice as long, in some games, I'm pretty sure.
      - The -1 wounds aura is amazing: Whether it's from the artefact Pendant of Fellwind or from the Executioner, I think this debuff is so clutch to be more resilient. Especially highly accurate combat armes like Khorne and Big Waaah, that small debuff on wounds reduce their efficiency by almost 50% it's great. In my games the Spirit Torment was the main target because he was reducing drastically their accuracy and kept them from clearing out what they wanted to clear. Especially when they start charging deep with 3D6 charges.
      - I question Olynder's value: In 3 of my games (BW and Sylvaneth and Khorne), because I got double turned twice, and because we don't have that many units, only a block of chainrasps and 2 hexwraiths, I never got the chance to pull off her healing when I had the chance. Either my Hexwraiths were dead or my Chainrasps were dead. It makes it that we're paying alot of points for Olynder and she's basically a Mortal Wound nuke that's triggering on a 2+.. and it can fail. If I can't use her healing properly, and I can't make use of my 2 spells (Because of Gobsprak, or Khorne, or Sylvaneth, for example. Not mentionin Seraphon) it's hard to justify her points because she's pretty meh in melee as well, especially when you don't have all-out-attack/Chainghasts, to make everything more reliable. I used to run Reikenor alot before and his +3 cast is very solid. Olynder has no bonus. He's also a wizard/priest assassin and self-buffs himself to 2+/2+. Anyway.. I love Olynder. Love her model to death. Love her warscroll on paper. In big games, she felt pretty useless, especially when you can't pull-off the combo.
      I still love the list. It's all about mobility. This is our strength for this GHB. I just.. I just feel like so much relies on that combo and if one part fails on a 2+, you're left in the dust and it makes it very unreliable for me. I'd like to hear your thoughts and maybe inspire you to try different lists.
      Thanks again for your content, really appreciate it.

      David, I love this comment and thank you so, so much for taking the time to share your thoughts and experience here for not just me but anyone diving around in the comments! This is awesome thoughts and feedback! :D
      Sorry it took be a little while to reply but I wanted to make sure I could sit down with the time to give you a full and proper response. :)
      I very much agree with all your points on the whole. Its very much why I wanted to get the point across that this list of mine may not be everyones cup of tea between just being hard to manage but also very built into my own personal specific playstyle which I've been learning over nearly now 9 years of NH through multiple editions. ^^
      Agreed on the punching front. There are a few more list types NH can build to try and fight more with the enemy but I find they don't really work for me. And thus why I have this more hit and run style of lists. It can be hard to pass wounds checks on certain enemies but that's when you need to know not to bother and just screen them out/keep them busy and play for the points and eye other targets.
      Black Caoch and Hexwraiths combat power is always a little hit or miss. Which is why you're just banking on the MW damage from them combined with the power up and Lady O teleporting in to really sink a unit and screen yourself at the same time. You need to keep the BC and HW charging in multiples when you do go for a commit as without your wave of terror they will loose the power on the off turns and feel like wet noodles for sure.
      I agree on the luck element and unfortunately it is just one of those things. I've always played against the grain in that way with 40k Orks and going all shooting heavy even though they only hit on 5s, my OBR lists only running 20 models and so forth. I see NH best right now when they're running either the following, Annoying gummy lists, MW teleporting, Hero Hammer or Harridan spam. The MW teleporting just being my favoured. But you're totally right in you can set it all up and the dice let you down. But then that's also true of any list hehe. I've been thinking of a video covering all these playstyles might be a good idea for more flex options for those who like less risk based tactics. :)
      On the matter of the Kruelghast I do think he's great. I know alot of NH players will swear by them and they are very useful tools when you run into higher damage enemies I agree. I just felt in this list style he is a little left out. Everything here moves so fast/teleports away he can find it hard to keep the bubble up in the right place. I think he fits into other NH list styles much, much better than he would in this one. But on the whole he is indeed a great pick up more often than not for other list styles.
      That's a fair assement of Oylnder. And yeah, if she isn't pulling weight for you personally those are all great alternatives. But again that would pull you into a complete different playstyle when she's out and thus I would fill up on other units and not only the list style but the whole list itself would change. ^^
      I will get together some videos on other playstyles and tricks I have learned over the years for sure and build some showcase lists for those too by the sounds! hehe. :D
      Thank you again for the awesome comment David, I'm glad you had fun and gave the list a try. I'm sorry to hear it didn't quite go your way but losses are always more eye opening for sure and I have had my fair share of getting stomped with my NH over the years to learn my own preferred style that works for me. :)

      @@LakeyWargames Hi again! Thank you for the great answer. I wanted to drop in and say that I have played again against BW, the same high wound Grunta heavy list with all the answers and I won!! 26-20. But this time, I took the other list, with the Knight on Steed and Executioner. I gotta say, I really liked it. The Knight on Steed I've been running for quite a while with the Soul Fire Ring and Spiteful Spirit combo. It's worked wonder for me in some games. Although it's hard to setup against a good player. They know that they need to one-shot him. Anyways, I couldn't ''explode'' with him in my second game against BW but he was there to support the flank with BC and HWs.
      The biggest difference was in my playstyle. I listened again to your previous video and you suggested to play aggressively against castle-like armies. My issue in the first game was that I waited a bit too long. It was too late and he was 2+ 2+ everywhere. This time, I was in his face turn 1, and pressured him right in his deployment zone. Felt amazing. With the -1 wound debuff and the hits on 3+, his accuracy really suffered and I survived the whole time. My block of Reapers was a staple in this game. What I did also was that I kept Magical Dominance for turn 2, where, after I had dropped my GoS in my block of Reapers, I could pop this BT and drop the Terminexus right in the back of his line where all the casters where, instead of calling it first turn and only hitting the front lines. I felt that was super strong. He missed the dispel on his turn and everything exploded from there.
      Anyways, super happy with the experience. All-in-all with the new point drops, I was wondering what were your thoughts. In the grimghast list, I was thinking dropping the Executioner to have the Cruciator with the Pendant of Fellwind and adding Suffocating Gravetide. That's exactly a 60pts upgrade.
      In this list, I was thinking of including Kurdoss to get that punch with the chainrasps.
      Let me know what you think :) 60pts isn't alot. (+10 +10 for Hewraiths and +40 for Olynder)

      I can't say I have too much experience at 500pts. I don't think there's really enough teeth at that level personally to get a proper feel but 1k is certainly more of a game feeling. This is what my current 1k idea looks like. It's a mini version and plays very much like the bigger 2k list from this video.
      1k in The Emerald Host
      Guardian of Souls (with Midnight tome artefact)
      Lady Olynder
      x10 Grimghast Reapers
      x3 Spirit Hosts
      x5 Craventhrone Guard
      x4 Mrymourn Banshees
      Terminexus Endless Spell
      990 total
      Idea would be Lady O, Hosts and Guard in the underworld.
      Guardian of Souls will Midnight Tome out the Terminexus, between that, Lady O and some chip damage from Guard you can take out smaller heros or dent a unit quite nicely.
      Banshees will protect you against magic for your Reapers and GoS to take the main table objective.
      Also best to note this is a vs all comers list as I don't tailor lists at all so this isn't anything specifically made to deal with Nurgle and also leans into my personal play style which isn't for everyone but I hope it helps give you a little idea at something you can do at the 1k level. :)

    Hey Alex, thanks for another great vid. Excited to try this list out as I've been looking at EH with BC to little effect. Expecting Awlrach and the new GHB to land in November (assuming the wife takes my man hints haha). In the meantime, how would you adapt this for Contest of Generals? I dont have the Universal Endless Spells, so with the recent points drop, I thought to drop Gravetide, add Chainghasts and obviously, look to change Hoarfrost. (Shademist?). Appreciate any thoughts or tips you (or anyone on comments) may have on this? But either way, excited to try this out vs my wifes SCE. Keep up the great work 😊

      @LakeyWargames  Год назад +1

      Thanks for the kind words! :) I've got all my fingers and toes crossed for you that a boatman gets sent your way for then! ^^
      Hmm, yeah gravetide is mainly just here to fill out the last 30pts in this list so isn't "needed" as such.
      I just did a quick look over of the list with the changed points and dropping the gravetide aswell as the chainrasps and it leaves us on 1710 which is so annoying as we where so close to just fitting in 20 Reapers which would have been perfect to slot in. But alas that makes us 10pts over.
      Personally I like the idea of having 1 larger unit for bodies on a objective and it's why the Rasps are perfect for that role because they're just cheap and cheerful so doesn't feel bad to have them standing around.
      You could if you drop them bump the Hosts up to 6 and then bring your choice of either 10 Reapers or Harridans which take the list to 1990 or if you prefer Bladegheists that takes you back to a flat 2k.
      Having the smaller 10 man unit makes the Spirit Torment feel a little bad as they can be one shot alot easier. But if you're careful with it then of course they're more effective for fighting and worth more when you get the heals in. :)
      Spell change Shademist would be a perfect change. This spell and Seal are very important for NH IMO but Hoarfrost was needed to make the Rasps become scary but now we don't need that shademist would be a amazing shout for sure!! :)
      I hope this helps give you some ideas on how to tweak it and good luck for your run out against the SCE. I'd love to hear how you get on if you do try a variation of this list! :)

    Hey Lakey, nice video again. Been keen on this list for awhile.
    I'm running without rasps, coach or gravetide. (500 pts)
    Instead taking 20 reapers (hoarfrost) and another unit of hexwraiths.
    Quite an elite list that requires a high skill cap.
    Have you thought about a vanguard/cogs list? It could really support the 9" charges we have to make.

    • @LakeyWargames
      @LakeyWargames  Год назад

      Thanks Anthony! Glad you enjoyed it. :)
      That sounds like some nice changes. Having those Reapers in there will really give you a main objective threat for sure! Also more Hexwraiths is never a miss. I'd love to hear how you end up getting on with it sometime? :)
      I think the problem with that sort of list for me is I used to do a cogs list back in 2.0 I had a block of 30 Reapers and 20 Reapers. Aswell as a Dreadblade general who could do the teleport trick. Cogs back then used to be a flat +2 to all your chargers so it felt AMAZING. Although it could be handy now it isn't what is once was when I did run it and I think because of that it will just feel flat aha. Although I understand the change is better for the health of the game in all fairness. ^^
      Also you have to stick within 12 of the Cogs these days where it used to be board wide. So it can be real annoying to get out and then tear down and reposition. But if you wanted too you could really make a single unit pull it off nicely instead of army and board wide like it used to be. :)

    A neat thing is also to have spectrtal tether on your guardian of souls, teleport him in, fire off the endlesss spell and in the movement phase you can get him back to safety with either Awlrach or the harrow.

    • @LakeyWargames
      @LakeyWargames  Год назад

      I like your thinking there Altyria! Unfortunately I don't think that quite works out.
      The Midnight tome only kicks in when the bearer attempts to cast a spell and takes over your roll for an auto 12. Unfortunately the GoS is only a 1 cast wizard and thus wouldn't have the second cast to be able to tome out the endless spell after the teleport. Unless there's a way to give him +1 cast I'm missing?
      You could however do this with Lady O as she is a two cast wizard but, she can't carry the tome and you need to cast both spells with neither being failed or unbound in the process so could be very tricky to get off in this current meta but effective with safe passage back into your ranks if you did. :)

      I feel you Skul, they definitely got hit by loosing out on the fighting in two ranks from last GHB buut, I still think there's some teeth in the Bladegheist lists. It'll just need some re-thinking and adapting! But also I guess new stuff is never bad, keeps us fresh on our toes! :)

    Great video. I’ve been trying to figure out what NH list would best work for play in this ghb. I was wondering what would be a good strategy for this list against shooting armies like slannesh?

    • @LakeyWargames
      @LakeyWargames  Год назад +1

      Thanks Artvader! Glad you enjoyed it. That's an awesome question! :)
      Heavy shooting match ups are some of the worst things to have to fight into with this style for sure. But it will all come down to the sort of table you are on and playing to the advantage of terrain where you can will be big for you.
      We're lucky in the fact that Slannesh don't hurt us as much as they do others because the Seekers can't knock our saves down and of course neither does the rend from Blissbarb spam. So where others feel the -2 saves sting we will still be 4+/6++
      Your best bet is to try and keep key elements out of the line of fire in the opening turn. Use the new look out sir to your advantage where possible keeping that 12" gap so your smaller heros can't be shot at and then you have some Spirit hosts on hand for the larger pieces and hope the dice gods let you pull off a nice amount of saves when they get into range. But if you can dodge most of it for a turn then you can really close up the gap and hit them turn 2 full force where you have the advantage.
      You will be able to heal back depleted units so keeping the heros safe is key. Even if they wipe a unit loosing 130pts of hosts or 180pts of Hexwraiths won't be as painful as loosing Olynder or your Guardian turn one from range for example.
      Don't forget that as good as hitting small heros with the MW output in this list is you can also use it to nuke down units. Also those D3s will add up to amazing effect and if you focus it on something like 20 Sentinels or a block of Blissbarbs they will crumble without the 5+ ward going up from the depravity in the Blissbarb case. Then you don't even have to worry about them using Unleash with a full unit.
      Also it's nice to know that if there's certain things you're worried about getting shot viva an Alpha shooting army then you can use the underworlds to hide up to 3 units and keep them safe against it. Can't be shot if you're not on the table. ^^
      It's a hard thing to go into but you just got to be patient and time your army in unison to crash into their line effectively. I hope this has helped a little. Feel free to ask any other questions! :)

    Great video! Just got the legion of giref box on sale, so looking forward to start nighthaunt! Question: do you have a good replacement for hexwriaths? They are out of stock and hard to find, plus i dont really like the aesthetic of the unit

      Do you mean as in to replace them in the list with another unit or to find an alternative source of model to represent them with?

      @@LakeyWargames oh! I meant to replace them with another unit 👍

    • @LakeyWargames
      @LakeyWargames  Год назад +1

      No problem at all, hmmm. It's a very hard unit to outright replace if I'm honest.
      Hexwraiths offer so much utility as a screen, super fast unit and MW chip damage and to be honest play a vital role in a list such as this. If I was to go without them I would probably change direction of the army composition and go for Bladeghiests or Harridan heavy type of army. ^^
      I do have a video on different NH army builds if you want to check it out you can do so here:
      ruclips.net/video/G2Xvg5AsBOw/видео.html
      Buuut if I had to choose units to replace their out put. A Knight of Shrouds on steed with Spiteful Spirit and Soulfire ring can be an awesome combination. And in terms of tanking more Spirit Hosts always do well to bodyguard your key heros aswell as benefit even more from any "return whole models healing" that comes along with it. :)
      As the only real cavalry in our book though it's hard to find another unit who can do everything they do as an outright replacement. Unlike our foot troops which can all do the same thing but in different flavours. If it is just a stock and looks issue I'd highly recommend kitbashing some of your own or find a 3D print for them so you can benefit from the awesomeness of the unit and have something on the table you like the look of. :)
      Sorry for the kind of on the fence answer but I hope this helps a little!

    For turn 2 combat do you charge lady o in? Same with everything else you teleport or do you just put her right at 12 for you can shoot and call it good? Do you charge her on turn 3? Or do you keep everything your teleport out of combat? Only charging if you are sure you can kill what your doing into.,

    • @LakeyWargames
      @LakeyWargames  Год назад

      That's a fantastic question SirStumpy! :)
      Unfortunately there's no 100% answer because it will all depend on how the game is going/what units make up the enemies forces and where you need to be on the table.
      For the turn 2 is the most consistent answer I can give. I usually don't look to charge out Lady O on the turn she teleports just because it's dicey rolling 9+s for both her and the hosts so she might get left out all alone if only one or the other makes it. So I aim to go where she isn't needed to charge.
      Then turn 3 I will just walk her around with the hosts so she can mortal something else and then set up a charge with her hosts much, much easier. But of course, depending on the targets I need to take out if she needs to teleport to support the other side of the table then it's usually the same again to play it safer instead of risking her getting caught out without the hosts. But if it is safe to do so then sometimes I will go for the longer charge. :)

    Hi Alex. With the points changes since this video went up, it leaves me on 1900 points (I dont have Gravetide). I wondered what you would suggest trying, that fits with the playstyle? I have some other endless spells, but Chainghasts for the +1 to hit? More Banshees? Crossboos? I dont play competitive play, but recently received the GHB and want to put together a fun list with it. I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

    • @LakeyWargames
      @LakeyWargames  11 месяцев назад

      Ooo 100pts is an interest amount to play with for sure! :)
      I would personally either go for the Banshees to help protect the units that will be on the table from the get go. There's so much magic going around these days you can never really go wrong for bringing these girls. Even against the few who don't really magic. (I'm looking at you KO and Khrone) They're a fantastic support unit to tag a charge into. :)
      Another fun option you could do if magic isn't really in your local meta and is a fun choice. You can keep the list the same as you have it now but upgrade the Chainrasp block into Grimghast Reapers and that will give you a much more strong core of troops in the centre to pressure the enemy with. ^^ You could use them the same way the Chainrasps are laid out in the tactics of the list video but of course Grimghasts will be much more effective both in dealing damage and more tanky with the 4+ over the 5+ save. :)
      Hope these ideas are useful for you Ghost! With all the points changes we've had I'll have to start updating the guides soon I think! ^^ hehe.
