    She stated that there was no hair that came out at all. All you have to do is see all the hair that broke and came out in her wet brush. I am also a hairdresser and olaplex is amazing, but you still can't leave bleach on the hair for the amount of time she left it and not get damage.

    Hey, Mandie!!! Love your videos, I also love how you speak about Olaplex. I just wanted to offer you a little tip, colorist-to-colorist.. I've taken a few masterclasses with Wella about global lightener applications. Try applying your lighteners from the back working towards the front. The reason has nothing to do with certain hair being more or less resistant(besides the hairline- very fragile and fine and will process much quicker) BUT, by starting at the nape of the neck and working up and to the front, if the sections below what you are working on have finished processing(pale yellow), you can easily rinse them out and not have to worry about over-proscessing. By starting in the front, your front two quadrants can lift to the desired level, while your back two quadrants may have only lifted to a very warm level 7-8. But you don't want to over-process the front so your only option is to rinse the whole head. Maybe on your next application you can give this a try and see how it works for you!!! Love you!!

      I have noticed that hairstylist are getting lazy about working in panels when doing major processing with bleach. Am not saying the person on the video was but alot of hairstylist just rinse the whole things. I cant wrap my head around it but like the say as long as the front looks good. I do exactly what your said for the same reason it's time consuming taking them to the bowl back and forward but your taking care of the integrity of the hair this way and your not over processing hair and scalp.

    Stop with all the negative comments. Who cares why she went blonde. And I'm sure they know it's damaging. But it's a tutorial, so that's the point of the video. I'm not going to say bleach isn't damaging, even with Olaplex, but it's a tutorial so shut up people.

    I'm sorry but from the very start of measuring out your bleach to the end of pressing really hard on a freshly bleached head there were so many red flags shown here and it really shows in the finished product. There are some really nice looking strands in the color but as a whole, it is not the end result I expected from what you were describing it to be. From the start you did not measure your developer for a ratio that is meant for that product, it is so important to have the correct proportions according to the manufacturer's directions. Second, you stated you like to put in extra Olaplex but according to the manufacturer's directions you should never use more than a 1/4 oz regardless of how much product you use unless you are using less color or bleach then, of course, you would use less Olaplex. It is disconcerting when a licensed professional give advice that contradicts the manufacturer's directions. I can use an on the scalp bleach or Lightner such as V-Lights, with a 10 volume developer and lift it to a beautiful blonde (this is hair that is no darker than a level 5) and this is my only way to lighten hair because when you use 10 vol. you do not blow the cuticle out it just takes patience and time.V-Lights can go on the scalp 90 minutes and off the scalp even longer. What was concerning with this video is you put it under the dryer but you also had color on the hair which doesn't go under a dryer. When you toned you were just squirting the color all over which seemed kind of wasteful not to mention the risk of spottiness which it did just that. I'm not trying to be rude or mean I am just concerned with putting inaccurate directions to the public. Your final end result was very pretty but I could also see the foil lines (or foam sheets) and the color you put into the hair looked an awful lot like the color she already began with but that is just my opinion. Please just stick to manufacturer's directions when teaching others color techniques is all I am really trying to convey.

  • @Chuckprest
    @Chuckprest 7 лет назад +54

    The tapes are too tight against the scalp. You can't apply them so tight it puts too much tension on the hair. Especially freshly bleached hair. Even with olaplex. Olaplex is a game changer but I don't think it's all that great, B3 is better. Also the extensions in the front are too solid and definitely need to be cut into. But if she's happy then good for her. You're a good colorist I just think your execution needs to be tweaked some. I'm not hating just stating some biased observations

      @kassandra5896 7 лет назад +2

      Charles Prest I completely agree! The extensions are where she went wrong, which is sad because the rest was good besides a few brassy tones I would've worked a little longer on, but maybe the client liked it.

      Michelle Victor INDEED.... totally agree, it's nice to see that knowledge! =) As ThatBlondeGirl Mandie mentioned, while almost being apologetic (as if it weren't complete/correct with some golden (def. not orange-ish at all) strands remaining in the finished product)... Well, Idk about anyone else, but being totally honest... had it turned out 100% like the root section & all monotone, lightest blonde... 'meh, I prob. would NOT have liked it as much as I do... WITH those golden/champagne-y strands in there. It's awesome to have a finished in 1 sitting, "blonde" process, like she said...yep, for sure! However, to accomplish that 1 sitting blonde process.. toned AND conditioned.. Then, add to that, an all over highlight.. + lowlight process.. Oh wait, & with extensions put in as well..?!? I'd aay that's an absoluckinflutely amazing feat, in itself!! BRAVO! Total score, imho... Winner winner chicken dinner... lol. Beautifully done & ZERO apologies required.. guess it came out, as it was meant to be.... Personally, I absolutely LOVE the results in the end.. Hopefully, the client/model did too! Again, WELL done... & thanks for sharing this experience! =)

      Unfortunately some hair lifted more than the rest. Asking to go from brown box dye to light blonde is extremely difficult and why a lot of stylists refuse to do it. Your results will be better if you go blonde gradually but those spots can be fixed easily.

      she should've used a 40 vol from the get go AND SHE SHOULD'VE STARTED IN THE BACK OF THESE HEAD WITH THE NAPE AND IT WOULD'VE BEEN JUST AS LIGHT AS THE FRONT, THE FRONT 2 QUADRANTS ESPECIALLY ATOMS THE FACE PROCESS THE FASTEST AND SHE NEEDED 10 MORE MINUTES LONGER TONING PROCESS. IT WAS ORANGE AND U COULD TELL SHE DIDN'T LIKE IT. PROBLEM IS SOME STYLIST HAVE TALENT AND SOME DON'T, KINDA LIKE SINGING, YOU EITHER KNOW HOW OR DON'T, PERIODT

      Together we’re A-Mayes-Ing I'm a hair stylist as well. It depends on your hairs integrity, and also he skill of your stylist. It could maybe take 2 or 3 visits, but that's a rough estimate, without seeing your hair

    • @Chlobear67
      @Chlobear67 6 лет назад +2

      Georgia Kyd is the color of your hair now box dye? If so, you're almost 100 percent going to have to go through the warm stage, the stylist should tone it though, to neutralize it. Until the next time you come in. It also depends on the integrity of your hair, I personally would do a full foil and then give you a slight root color and every time you come in, keep lightening your base and lighten your pieces that weren't highlighted

    • @tina-kl5oq
      @tina-kl5oq 6 лет назад

      yes, and shes working w a nat level 7, which is a great level to lift. But what about a nat level 4 or 5? No matter what the product is, you still gota go back to the rules of color and levels of lightening.

    I have been a hairstylist for 24 years. I don’t want to bash but for anyone wanting to try this...there are several issues - everyone has commented about the brassy, blotchy color. This is because color doesnt really lift color properly - it leaves it brassy b/c it i’m being used correctly in this case - it doesn’t deposit to neutralize those brassy tones because it’s not meant to in this type of an application so don’t do it EVER! Also, that was unnecessary product and abuse to the hair. It would have been better to heavily highlight and leave the brown as is p if she wanted it ashier, then put a Demi ash color/toner to neutralize the brown - it wouldn’t show up as brown streaks in the end when mixed with the blonde - just neutral instead of the brass. Another thing, you don’t start at the top - that hair processes faster...unless you use a lower volume of peroxide than the back. Also don’t put your toner in the front from the get go, this hair is fine and will absorb the colour too much - in case of the 9V it will pick up the V making it very Ash - too Ash. You should start at the crown run the nozzle through the back of the hair and then work your way through the top and doing the front the very last. Hair would naturally be brighter in the front and darker in the back anyway so this will give a more natural, visually appealing hair color. There were many unnecessary processes for an unprofessional job - as a client I wouldn’t want to pay for this, I wouldn’t want my hair to go through this, and I wouldn’t want to sit there unnecessarily long as she would have.

    I'm so impressed. Unfortunately I let my hairdresser friend lighten mine and now my hair is completely fried , ruined, and not the beautiful platinum blonde color. Instead it's still slightly brassy even after a toner. I'm just sick. It's going to take years to get my hair healthy again. It's so split. I ended up going back to my real hairdresser that I have gone to for years and she used olaplex on my roots that were extremely brassy and at least she got that part of my hair colored better. She was afraid to put anything more on my hair including olaplex for fear of further breakage. My hair is already very fine and thin. I couldn't afford to harm any of it. Anyway..I guess after waiting for my hair to get healthier I have something to look forward to....a perfect hair processor called olaplex. Mandie, you gave me hope. Thank you so much!

    Mandie, please look back at this video and see the following... First off I have been doing Cosmetology for 11 years! I need to know how long you spent on her hair with this color application? I am not too sure you realize just how uneven this blond highlighting is.From the back of her C parting forward....she has Ashy, Neutral toned blond hair with spots from poor color saturation Then from the C parting to the back there is also poor saturation spotting, and the tone of the blonde is yellow gold and warm toned. This is not a very good rep of a teaching moment. Please delete this video. Your client is a natural level 5/6 not 7 .Sorry But this must be said.

    Im a hairdresser too! Good job! But i noticed that you Put The tape pieces very close to The scalp, that can really damage the roots. Specially if she wears a ponytail in The beginning (first week when The tape has not fallen down a bit yet) or atleast that can happen to My clients but im swedish so most of us has very fine hair :)

    I liked the end result in the front but then she turned around. It seems that the front is cool toned nearly silver and the back is a lot warmer golden. I also don't understand why the front is longer and why did you put extensions only there ?

    its best to just put a small amount in. more would stop the bleach from processing.

    This stuff is amazing.A salon my daughter went to should have never bleached her dark,box dyed hair.She told them it was box dyed.They put her under the dryer and she was there for 10 hours ,no joke,She had chemical burns all over her scalp.They wanted her to wait a week until a color correctionist was in town she couldn't wait,thankfully she didn't, she found an amazing stylist in town,that is healing her hair and uses Olaplex (si) when her hair heals,it already looks AMAZING she will color it the way she wants....

    Not impressed. Before the extensions, the hair still looked brassy. The hair in the "foils" was too thick of a section. Had she used thinner sections and a bleach other than Redken bleach and cheap Sallys 40 volume, her color might have turned out better. Take it from a fellow hairdresser. Hopefully you can take criticism well instead of thinking you're above it but next time, use a bleach that will lift the hair 9 levels, like Schwarzkopf. That is the best bleach ever. Puts all other bleachers to shame. And use a developer by the same brand if you want best results. The only reason it looked somewhat blended at the end was because of the extensions.

      Jennifer Ford I noticed that too.she obviously took a lot of time and effort but I saw white/grey blonde in the front which appeared a touch longer. And then orangey gold blonde in back. I know color shows different in person. And it's still amazing she was able to do that much change in one sitting.

      Also let me just mention the stylist sent me home with a few patches of toner in my hair and a shower cap! Told me to wash it out myself, and when I put it up in a ponytail it legit looks like I'm balding from the blonde patches. I don't even know what I can do to get it color corrected because there are silver, grey, and BRASSY patches all over my hair. I'm tempted to just buy a box dye and bleach over the entire thing but I'm scared it will make it worse. Is there anything you can recommend for me to try? I would really appreciate your advice.
