Tip for those that are worried about the 3M coming off, in that same area if you look properly you’ll see a gap, put the 3M tape on the strip but do not pill of the 3M you’re using the tape just for thickness, with the plastic tool, slightly separate the plastic piece and insert the trip all the way to the end leaving the light side facing towards the cabin. No gluing needed, no risk of tape coming off due to heat. I’d like to add it’s a pity EVbase doesn’t offer the backseat and foot RGB lights in this particular kit.
Bought a evbase light kit and installed easily. However one of my light strips was defective. Contacted ev base and they are sending me a replacement strip. Shipping took about 7 days.
There is a lip on the underside of the dashcover. You can feel it when you install, the LED strip fits just behind it. Hard to explain, but you should figure it out. The lip also keeps the strip straight.
I installed them and they work great but now my sentry and viewing clips are really slow and laggy. I disconnected the usb from the splitter and straight into the tesla usb and watching the videos is back to normal again. Maybe the usb splitter provided is cheap and slow, i ordered a different one and lets see if this fixed the problem.
I have the older version which just plugs into the center console. I would try a different splitter. It's a shame tesla didn't put two ports in the glove box.
• Is it possible to change the start animation or is there always the Rainbow animation? • Do the lights go out when you leave the vehicle while the sentry mode is on?
Yes, the start animation is always the same. The lights will turn off after a while. But if sentry is alerted, they will turn on until it goes to sleep again. Mine is using the 12V outlet in the center console. I also tried the USB port and it works the same way.
Could you tell us How can i attached the direct wire to the car wires? I have the (6 in 1.. 6 strips) .. like yours .. And its come with only the direct wire.. can i find it under the rear AC?.. Pls give me link or tell me here
Your light strip doesn’t even go all the way of the length of the dash. Every other kit I have seen does. Also the think end of the strip on the drivers side is exposed and looks bad. I liked your commentary, just wished you used a better kit. Your efforts are still appreciated, thank you.
In fact I just did that. You can also adjust the brightness on the style patterns too. That can make some more variations. Patterns with bright and medium lights then become and medium and “off” lights. One has a red dot that moves across the strip.

I use a dual USB adapter to plug into the 12V power outlet to power my dashcam and the lights. The one I’m using doesn’t plug into the rear CANBUS. It came with both USB and 12V power connectors. I’m not sure if they changed anything since I got mine. If it now comes with the CANBUS connector you can daisy chain them - I have two devices connected back there.
The adhesive is along the entire length of the light. It's totally solid after three months. The big test will be the 120F+ cabin temps during the summer.
Do you think it will be on all the time when the car starts, can it turn on and off automatically with the car light or do we have to turn it off ourselves.
How would I route to the USB in the glove box? If so, I would swap the installation and have the wire come out from the right side of the dash. Then route it down the side door panel. Then under the glove box area and to the USB inside. I would leave a little extra wire for slack when opening/closing the glove box.

They do offer the center console option with this kit. Maybe the footwell and backseat will come out at some point.

How far in do you place the light strip? Do you place as far back as possible? Or do you somewhat expose the white led strip?

Sorry, I have only installed the dashboard LED kit. I'm not sure if it shares the controller with the center console.

Yes, it sometimes takes between 15-30 minutes to turn off. So when the car goes to sleep, they USB/12V outlets turn off.
It will remain on all the time if sentry is on though, right?

Will doing this void your warranty?
I don't see how, it's something that plugs into the USB or 12v power port. It doesn't affect the HVAC system.

Yes, you can choose one solid color too. Hundreds of patterns and color choices.
Does the adhesive will lose after time?
Since the entire length has tape, it should stay adhered very well. No issues after two months.

Yes, I installed mine during the winter and it's pretty solid. I'll give an update when summer heat arrives.

No, it is only designed for the dashboard. They have another kit that includes the dashboard and console/etc.
