I've lived in Antwerp all my life, and I really love to see my city through the perspective of someone for whom all of this isn't just the daily regular commute :)) Central Station is definitely one of the most beautiful buildings I know in Antwerp and the Christmas market on Groenplaats is absolutely one of the things I always look forward to throughout the year.
Nello and Patrasche is one of those stories that I regularly heard growing up as a little kid, the story always devastated me. The statue by the Cathedral of Our Lady is actually pretty recent! Or at least, I remember it not being there, and I'm not old, so that's my own personal deduction (I just looked it up: the statue was placed there in 2016, so I'm not really wrong, but the statue certainly isn't the newest thing either)
Anyway, I loved your video and little outtakes :> Have a nice day/night!!

The white boat building was my university and I used to see the yellow boat from our auditorium, at eye level.
Also the big hand street art on the side of the wall was done by one of our only internationally famous actors, Matthias Schoenaers (look him up), I saw it being done right after the first lockdown from my window back in 2020. It was done for the national day (July 21st) and references both Antwerp's name myth and the colonial past of Congolese hands being cut off.

The building you visited @ 3:24 once belonged to a rich merchant Johan Alexander van Susteren, who started the construction in 1745, unfortunately he never saw his palace completely finished because he died in 1764.
Then it was sold to Jonkheer Johannes de Fraula, then to Count Jean Alexandre Roose de Baisy and his wife Marie Anne Josephe van de Werve.
Their daughter, Caroline Marie Josephe, married to Count Charles Francois de Brouchoven de Bergeyck, who inherited the building in 1798.
After the death of her husband, she sold the building in 1812 to Napoleon Bonaparte, later it came into the hands of William I of the Netherlands, the Belgian royal family and is now owned by the Flemish government.

The sculpting with chocolate is a different thing than the more commercial chocolates. But if you are talented at clay sculping, it has many similarities.
I've worked at a chocolatier for about 6 months or so, just the non fancy stuff. There was this one guy, that made sculptures, which is not exactly the same as making the bonbons, etc. But very interesting, chocolate needs to be at certain temperatures for this to work, so does the room you are working in. I understand rules seem to interfer with the land of the free mentality. Don't tell me what to do. hahaha

In Amsterdam you really have to start actively crossing the street for cars to reluctantly stop for you at a zebra crossing. They don't have no time for those pesky pedestrians!! Like, they won't actively run you over, but if you're hesitant, they won't stop and wait for you to begin crossing the road. It really differs country to country and even city to city how well drivers adhere to those rules.

@@MartijnPennings Tourists, both on the sidewalk and street, and behind the wheels of cars. Would be a reasoning for this in my opinion. It's not like that in the entire Netherlands.
      And similar:
In the Netherlands a car also has to stop when you are not crossing at a zebra, and the zebra is like 10 meters from where you are crossing.
In the Netherlands you don't have to wait for a green light when crossing on foot, if the street is safe you can cross. But crossing infront of a car when the light is also red, is illegal.
