  • This is the first of a series of videos all about the hand dyed yarn I create for my business Essence of Autumn Yarn. In this series I will take you behind the scenes where you can see the methods I use for dyeing my colours, where I get inspiration for my colourways and I will also include some tutorials so you can create your own fibre works of art. In this episode watch as the blank canvas of fibre is transformed into vibrant colour!

    OK> The twisted skein dyeing then over dye with knotted resists . . . . BLEW MY MIND. I must try this.

      Needs less music, more voice over to tell your audience what your process is and if you would do things differently next time. Apply videos to different sort of learning styles.

    I've been dyeing for about 6 years, but your videos have inspired me to try some new techniques that will likely be waaaay more efficient. Most of my colorways are 3-4 colors...I love the way you use so many. I did some speckling in my "early" days, but I think your use of a small strainer is way better than the toothbrush I used. I just might have to add some back in. Thanks for sharing. :)

    Why doesn’t the Hot yarn felt when squeezed?

    • @EssenceofAutumnYarn
      @EssenceofAutumnYarn  4 года назад

      In general wool will not felt immediately if handled properly. Usually it's constant friction or a drastic change in temperature (ex placing hot fibres into cold water) that will cause it to felt. Also sw yarn which I'm using here has been treated so that it can go in a washing machine so it is less likely to felt.

    • @eneal2056
      @eneal2056 4 года назад

      @@EssenceofAutumnYarn Thank you! That answers so many of my questions. I did a large amount of felting some years ago and I now recall I had to use a lot of friction to achieve good results as well as hot water.
