I knew this movie existed! I have tried for so long to find it, and no one else remembered it, so I sort of started to doubt myself, but nope, I was right! :D
I have to give this animation credit. It took guts to screen that long a sequence with no narration, no dialogue, and the characters' faces obscured by diving masks. And they pulled it off.
Wasn't hard to find but I love this animated movie, used to watch it literally everyday here in Kosovo (Europe) via Digitalb (BANGBANG). This movie taught me alot back in the day. Thanks to whoever made this animated movie!
I'm surprised that this adapts scenes not in the other adaptations like there being multiple squids, the spider crab attack, Atlantis, and the iceberg scene.
I’m impressed how closely this follows the book. They even get a lot of the subtle details right that a lot of adaptations get wrong like the attack being a swarm of giant squid not one, and the number of crew members being kept a secret. Sure Bernadette wasn’t a character and Ned wasn’t black but honestly those are pretty subtle changes. Ned was Canadian and during this time period there were a lot of slaves that escaped to Canada so I think the change adds a lot to his character.
I feel bad for captain Nemo’s loss. The poor man lost his spouse and his children. He is not evil just a wounded man. He wanted to take vengeance on the nation that oppressed him and took away his family from him. I really wish that I could live in the sea 🌊 just like him. I am against oppression of people just like the captain Nemo. I wish that I can live in the sea 🌊 since no one can claim it. There is no written law in the ocean 🌊.
Next to the disney version with James Mason, this is one of my favorite adaptations of my Favorite Jules Verne novel. Mostly because in this one they adapt the entire voyage around the world under the sea (the titular 20,000 leagues). I also like the POV sideplot with bernadette. Especially her bit with nemo where that seems to be the catalyst of him realizing he's become as worse as the country's government he hates (possibly the british empire if he is indeed half indian as hinted with the pear diver scene)...and the end shows like the books he drops his crusade and possibly heads for the mysterious island. Cant wait to see the nautilus again whenever the upcoming disney film "Captain Nemo" hits theaters....
Now all we need is the full movies of: Time Kid (2002) (English) Dinosaur Island (2002) Globehunters: An Around the World in 80 Days Adventure (2002) Treasure Island (2002)
We see Bernadette a happily married girl at the end. And then not even a minute passes and she's a grieving old widow. That's a really weird way to end this movie.
The written story seems like a memoir an old person would make, so it's likely Bernadette was already an old widow by the time she wrote about her adventure.
@@ValerioRhys I know that.Weird was that sudden transition. Also,if she wrote it while being old wasn't her voice in the voice-over supposed to be of an old person?
Oh yeah...cutting her hair will make her look like a man. "What these? Oh, they're just a couple of moles growing on my chest. The doctor says they're not cancerous."
This built me.... and uhh that's kinda scary.... This and Jacques Cousteau Ocean Tales... XD If anyone can find Jacques Cousteau Ocean tales you'll be forever in my debt!!!
Absolutely. Professor Aronnax (who for some reason is a doctor here) sounds fifth generation American instead of French, the Canadian harpoonist Ned Land has all of a sudden turned black, and where the hell did this Bernadette/Bernard character come from? And why would a 19th century lady be talking like a 21st century chick from Beverly Hills anyway? The real travesty is, there will be kids watching this who will think that this is the actual story as written by Jules Verne.

i though this was just some odd dream i had when i was little. this really stabbed me in the heart with nostalgia.

I remember watching this on Disney Channel’s Wonderful World of Disney in the 2000s.
I have to give this animation credit. It took guts to screen that long a sequence with no narration, no dialogue, and the characters' faces obscured by diving masks. And they pulled it off.
Even though it's far from the book, I still had a great time watching it.
6'1 Dane how is it described in the book?
Actually, this is fairly close to the book. They just left out the sperm whale massacre and the battle between Ned and the dugong.
This was my childhood
I found 5 Titanic refrences:
48:35 Iceberg Collision
49:25 Lifeboat
1:04:46 Breaking in two
1:11:06 Rescue
1:12:42 Dropping something inside the sea

nemo's sweater reminds me of spiderman. everytime nemo is onscreen i think he's going to take of his coat and reveal he is wearing a spiderman costume
58:18 bruh that nightmare sequence was spine chilling when I was a kid, especially captains monster form at 59:20 😨😬😳
Unpopular opinion: I know it's not true to the original in any sense but I'm able to appreciate it anyway.
In what way? Because, excluding the inclusion of Bernadette, this is pretty darn close to the book.
We see Bernadette a happily married girl at the end. And then not even a minute passes and she's a grieving old widow. That's a really weird way to end this movie.

In all honesty this movie ain’t half bad!
THIS TOOK SO LONG FOR ME TO FIND
Very amusing and quite hilarious if you have a sense of humor and the gift of seeing beyond the time it was crafted.
1:13:28 - "we'll donate it to a museum!"

As bad as this is in some places, it's tolerable, and actually has some interesting moments.
Mckenzie .Latham Agree
Personally whenever Nemo is on and or anything he says is the best.
Oh my god nostalgia
Amazing!
Holy fuck! I remember watching this as a kid when cartoon network showed these movies :D
Plot twist: this is a real story but no one belives so they just made it a movie and books
Its a mix of Atlantis with Milo n Sweet, yet Titanic too
Does anyone know where I can find the rest of these cartoons (Sunday Movie Toons)?? Time Kid, Sabrina, Archie.
Looks more like a Fanfic to me. Still, it's kinda better than another real-life actors TV-adaptation I have seen years ago...
THIS IS SOOOO FRICKING FAR FROM THE BOOK!!!!
But it's so good!
No the deeper meaning isn't there....
Sciacchitanoスティーブン I know right!

Awesome 😎 🤩🤩🤩
So they made Ned Land black but couldn't make Captain Nemo indian?
Ok, I'm Sorry, but no one can rival James Mason as captain Nemo and this looks ridiculous.
the glowing creacher was known as a notolas but is was a sunberine
Oh land, you big pansy
I wish incredible world of dic come back
