Superb watch. It does everything you need from a watch better than anything else I can think of. The Eco Drive technology is amazing. The size is also perfect too.
I have that same watch. Like it a lot. I have another Eco-Drive watch that I have had for about 25 years and it is still working great and still on the original rechargeable battery.
This was my 'deployment watch' which I wore in Barsah, Iraq in 2005. The dial warped very slightly due to leaving out in the sunlight. It is now 2023, and it is STILL running!
Recently picked one of these up for $127 equivalent in the UK. I wanted it for all the same reasons you did and it does not disappoint at all. I put it on a chunky brown leather quick release strap with a deployment clasp and it looks and wears fantastic. Awesome timekeeping, 100m water resist, never needs batteries and for me it's the perfect no worries everyday beater.

The only problem I had was that the strap would occasionally unfasten on the last hole as there wasn't much strap at the end to thread through the keeper. But all in all an excellent eco drive watch.

The Casio F-91W is my go to Beater watch ! I use mine as a work watch/everyday watch. (They cost about 10 U.S. dollars at this moment.) My second go to watch is the Citizen BM8180 Garrison/Chandler watch. For the money, THIS IS THE BEST MODERN FIELD WATCH !!! PERIOD !!! ( Forget the Hamiltons, the Seikos, the Vaers, the Butucci's, and everything else ! THIS watch beats ALL of them HANDS DOWN ! )
i had this watch in iraq. not recommended in the desert heat as the metal matches the ambient heat and then on top of that the radiant heat. great everywhere else and loved it. gave it to a friend as a going-away gift.
Wish I knew how old mine was so i knew what to expect capacitor wise. Bought mine at a garage sale for twenty dollars. Its amazing and very very scratched.
My Citizen EcoDrive 8180 sat in the bottom of a drawer (hidden) for over 10 yrs. When found, I put it on a window sill for a few hours, it fully charged and back in the rotation for the past month or so, original battery. I purchased it back in 2011 for around $85. I only changed out the band to a AliExpress NATO one.
I had one of these back when I first started looking at watches. It was solid id unspectacular, a little small for my wrist maybe. The Nighthawk is what represents Citizen in my watchbox, love that watch.
Own and love this watch. By the way, the bracelet from the Seiko 5 SNK381 (or any other Seiko 5 with this “cushion” style case) fits perfectly on this 8180 with no adjustment needed. I know a lot of people really dislike the old Seiko 5 bracelets, but I actually like them a lot. I was very pleased to discover that it fit on this watch. I also own the Citizen Nighthawk (older version), which is also superb. My wrist is a bit bigger than yours at about 6.7 inches, so both Citizens fit pretty well for me. Great video. To me it is a total mystery how the only watch in existence that literally everybody needs - unobtrusive, wearable size, 10 bar water resistant, indestructible solar quartz, reasonably affordable, timeless style - is a rather ugly, half-assed mil style, discontinued Citizen on a shabby abrasive strap that few people even know about and that looks like a failed Timex. This is the only watch I ever wanted! Put it in a decent case with a sapphire on top, do away with the obsolete date, hire a designer rather than an intern for the dial, make it a timeless, versatile style like an Oyster Perpetual or a Mark 11 or anything tasteful and I'd happily pay not €200 but €800 for it. It is literally the one watch you cannot buy.
I've had one for over 10 years. I wear it camping and fishing and have taken it snorkeling a number of times. I like the look of the original band but never found it comfortable and don't like the metal eyelets. I generally like a rubber strap on it.
I just bought a King Samurai (automatic)man’s I’m extremely disappointed that it gains 20 seconds every day. For a watch that expensive this quality control seems terrible. Can you please explain why it’d be so expensive to just open your Seiko 5 and move the little lever that would slow it down a little? The perfect watch for me is my Casio Oceanus T200. The lume is just as good as the Seiko, it updates via satellite so it is never ever even 1 second off the official time, it is solar, even the date adjusts by itself (perpetual calendar equivalent) and if I lose my phone I can buzz it with a button in my watch.

I love the Night Hawk just looks to big on my wrist. I would own all of the Blue Angels line if I had bigger wrists!
I prefer the Citizen over the Seiko as it has a solid back that won't shatter as happened with my Seiko 5.

BTW...the Excellent Citizen Promaster Diver that you mention( original, at 41-44mm)...is now available in a 36-38 mm size !! ... more choices !!

Timex expedition north field solar 36mm is almost there. Good enough, but the lume could be better
Of course the rattling of the seiko is super annoying. That‘s why I like the citizen way more… and it‘s my only watch now.

No it not comes with this green strap. I switched mine out to an Archer quick release. This is a great every day watch

Is the tick loud enough to hear in a very quiet room? Is it similar to a Lorus quartz watch?
I don’t hear it but my hearing isn’t great.

you can barely hear the tick when its on your ear. Ive never had an issue with it
