Helpful! I have tried building a custom calibration too... wish it was just a better native colour space in the ATEM.
Thanks for the video Chris.
I’d also been struggling with a similar issue sending content from my Mac to the ATEM (using OBS Projector Mode) - tried the DCI (P3) colour profile however sending EBU colour bars wouldn't match the camera or the colour bars on the ATEM Mini.
I found looping the HDMI out from the Mac through a Blackmagic Micro Converter (BiDirectional SDI/HDMI 3G) into the ATEM and using the default Blackmagic profile (provided by the Micro Converter) corrected the levels and colours as measured on the Ninja V waveform monitor from the ATEM HDMI output.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the video! Just a quick question ... at 3:30 your display settings show the options to use 720p and 1080p. On my MBP M1 I do not see the option and Powerpoint slides do look very blurry when fed into the Atem. Any ideas?
Hi Christian, that's a bit strange. I can maybe test this in the coming days but for now I have two ideas (not to sound rude, just to clarify all the aspects where taken into consideration):
Did you choose the ATEM Mini monitor window and not the internal window?
Did you choose the "Scaled" option and NOT "Best for BMD HDMI"?
Those two are important. Additionally, in the "Optimized for" section the "BMD HDMI" has to be selected, otherwise it is trying to optimize for the internal display which is not 1080p 16x9.
If those help, great, if not, let me know and I will test it with an M1 MacBook 👍.
Hi chris, any update on this?
from my testing that profile just lifts up the blacks but it blows the highlights way more that is needed.
In his video, the laptop screen looks really washed out using the SMPTE P3 profile, but in practice it's not bad at all. I'm also experimenting with the Wide Gamut RGB profile. It seems a little less vivid.
The atem mini scalers just plain suck. This is a workaround, not a fix unfortunately.
