These videos are fantastic - proper deduction of faults. I loved it when you said “fault codes; don’t care”. These are really helping my comprehension of this system. Thankyou.
This is marvelous. I have an old 2007 159 16V JTDM. I had that Mass problem, and lack of power. The workshop chsnged mass meter, but it didn't solve it. I bought a new Giulia and put the 159 in my garage. Its still there. Now I maybe finally can have the problem solved. Your English is great❤
Thank you for another good video! I am watching this for the second time, and I clicked like button first time... The only point where I got confused is when you said when boost reads proper values and MAF does not, it could be cloged exhaust. That is strange as cloged exhaust would prevent air from going into intake manifild. Thus, in my opinnion there will be disagreement bettwen desired and acttual value... As in your case, I also need to apologise for my english, because I am from Serbia.
Hello. Yes, you are correct. That is exactly what I'm trying to explain. And that disagreement will produce a fault code related to MAF. If the air cannot get out, it will no go in, in that way reads less air flow. The turbo will be able to compress it, but not in quantity only in pressure
Whats the program you use to see all the parameters? Do you have any video explain how to use it? It would be very interesting. Thanks for your work bro❤
Brother i checked all vacuum lines, removed rurbo and clean geometry. Turbo is fine, exhaust is and muflers are clean. Turbo hoses are fine. I put bew map sensor. "I shoot the messenger" 😅 and put brand new maf sensor bosch. The car still looses power from tine to tine. When i disconnect maf, car works fine. No errors or codes... I dont know what to do next. The new maf is diferent number then the old one but i bought it by the chassi number.
When maf sensor disconnected you MUST have error code. If not your ecm is chipped and errors disabled. When disconnect maf car uses different rules, so called emergency maps that sometimes works better than normal ones with broken parts. So if your new maf is NOT made by Bosch - buy only Bosch genuine maf. All others will not work. You have a right to return parts within 14 days, so if it not ok just return it. Also for all alfa owners its very good to buy MultiScanEcu software and some compatible obd reader. This in combo will cost about 100euros only, and you will be able to do anything that dealers and mechanics can. You will be able to see live parameters and so on. And will make diagnosis much easier
Hi, 159 2.2jts : , my problem is that the pedal accelerator has a lag of 1 second, pressed it and count: 0., 1, motion also , a lot of consumption 6km/liter city driving (highway is ok 10km/liter 160km/h) . I cleaned the throttel body and MAF, then even replaced the MAF and nothing change. Parameters on MultiEcuScan indicate that is too much air coming in while idling at least
@@alfaromeonoproblemThanks, I'll double check for intake leaks. But timing chain slack?..mmh it sounds good, idling etc, just a delay on acceleration *pedal sensor?* lack of power until 3.000rpm and high consumption on city driving. There is a bit smell of gasoline when starting at the morning.
Yes, those are symptoms of not timmed engine caused by a chain slack or not a correct assembly. You can also have a problem (not very common now a days) with the MAF. You can diagnose it before replacing. But a engine out of timming will give out bad reads on the MAF too
Nice and informative video. However I have another question. I've been very stupid. I put a littile bit oil in my alfa romeo 147 1.6 TS, but I forgot to put the cap on... I discoverd it one day later but I already drove 280km. Just before I discoverd it I drove a little bit harder through a curve, and the oil pressure light came on. I drove to a gas station and I discovered oil was everywhere on engine and even under the car because I drove on the highway with it. I put 3l in the car because I couldnt see any oil on the oil stick. Now there is about a liter to much so I gues it lost about 2.5 liters. Do you have any advice and do you think I have engine damage? Its my first car so I hope it will last. Fortunately it will only happen once to me😅 Thank you and keep up the good work. Greets from the Netherlands
Hello. That happens more than you know. Well, running without the cover is not bad for the engine. But, running out of oil is, and if the light turned on, at some moments the engine literary ran with no oil for a few seconds. Metal on metal os only good in music festivals and such. On engines.. not so much. Now a bit of oil above the MAX is no big deal, and eventually the engine will consume it. Stay sharp for engine knocking however.
@@alfaromeonoproblem Thanks man! I will stay alert, I noticed some vibration in the throttle/car yesterday when I wanted to make speed, I guess it was due to the low oil level. Hope it is gone now because of the oil I refilled. Have a nice Sunday!
@@alfaromeonoproblem Hi there! I just took the car for a 30 km trip. At the beginning with idling cold start I noticed somekind of knocking sound:( It worried me, however it didnt got louder or more frequent when revving and driving the car. From 30km/h you couldnt hear it anymore because of the engine and wind sound. When the car was warm it was actually like normal no noise at all even not when idling. Smooth drive and no vibrations. Thank you for your effort and your time. If you have any advice for me, it is very welcome! Greets from the Netherlands

OMG! Finally I have more and more people like you that really try to understand me.

Hello. Never seen so far an issue with air mass meter on 159s.
Make sure to check for intake leaks and or exhaust clogged. Also EGR issues
Very informative video! i will try this method in the future since maf sensor almost never show on obd and doesnt make any error lights aswell..
Thank you very much! Yes, most of the time no fault codes. Thanks for watching
Just found your channel, fantastic information..👍

Hello. It's an Autel machine. I have tons of videos with it. Check out on the description
what diagnostic do you use?
Autel

Olá. Quais são as leituras de massa de ar em diagnóstico?
Pode ser um tubo roto, sim.
thx...
