I loved watching this process. I never seem to have a vision. I consider myself more of a copier. Any thoughts on how I can develop my vision or creativity?
Thanks, Cindy! What I would recommend is to do many small paintings and push yourself with time-limits. I do at least 4 small thumbnail pieces every morning to start my day. Either quick loose paint sketches or collages with 3 small pieces of paper. Give yourself something to focus on each morning. Composition one day, shape one day, flowers one day, color one day, etc. This helps train your mind to think quickly and creatively. It won't feel like it at first, but these make a big difference, at least they have for me. Don't expect "good looking" art with these. Its about getting reps in and working you brain. What's fun is looking back after a day or two and sometimes you realize a few are real gems. I hope this helps.
