Hey Lisa! 😂 You're not alone-I did the same thing at first. I had to push myself to think about the shapes, colors, textures and patterns instead of specifics. It's kind of freeing once you do it.😊

Thanks Tee! Haha, I guess I need to work on my pronunciation. I use the white mat to look at the painting without the noise of the tape and any paint/marks that are on it. I tend to mat the better paintings on paper and this helps me see what they might look like at different stages.

Thanks, Emmanuel! You know, when you're in the painting it's sometimes easy to miss moments like 4:20 and the direction it might take you in. That's exactly what happened. I look at it now and really like it, but at the time it was something else in progress. With that said, I didn't at first, but I really like how this ended up.😊

Just had to get past that "ugly" stage and make something work. I guess that's the whole point of these exercises. Have a great day!

I was on the fence with this one, but then you scratched in leaf type shapes, when you put the Matt board frame over it, the painting was lovely, fresh and lively. Cheers!
Thanks, Howling! I was right there with you-started to chalk this up "one of those that didn't work out". Then I reminded myself that this is just the "ugly" stage and to keep going. How are things in Tasmania? We're getting snow in Colorado today. It's beautiful! Cheers!
@@chrisloudart yes paintings no matter what medium you use, always goes through an ugly stage before it comes good. Weather here is nice today warm but not oppressively hot or humid. We've had a rather wet summer this year good in a number of ways, it's too wet for bush fires although one still shouldn't get complacent as it can still happen. And our water tank is full to over flowing, we're lucky that way, living up in the hills, the rain hits us before it goes on down to the pastures and town. We're getting more fickle weather as we're transitioning out of summer and going into autumn. Autumn even though changeable like spring is, it's very nice weather, and the changing leaf colours are quite stunning in places. But I am pleased that there hasn't been any real bad bush fires, there was one on the east coast of Tassy, but the fire fighters got it under control pretty quickly. In summer I always keep a washing basket ready with clothes and other things that maybe important, so that all I have to do is grab it and the fur kids and go. Living high up in the bush that's just what you have to do, we're in the red zone, so the fire fighters won't come here to try and save our home as there's only one road in and the same one out, and I would expect anyone to risk their lives to save my home. My summer/autumn, ends sooner than down in the town, come the end of April it the start of the wet weather, and the sun doesn't come over the tree line, luckily it stays light enough for our solar panels to be able to get enough energy to run the lights. It also means a shorter growing season for vegis etc. We charge the batteries up every couple of days with the generator, and we have wood and gas heating and cooking, although winter time I put my stew pot in the wood heater and it cooks slowly through out the day and is tasty come dinner time. Our family of wallabies stuck closer to the house too, they know they can get a feed here, I've been learning how to use the video in my phone so as practise I've got a few videos of the wallabies on RUclips, it was fun learning something new and different, I doubt it'll attract any interest. Well, I look forward to your next video which I thank you for them, there's still a few older ones I haven't seen yet though. Cheers from Tasmania!
@howlingwind I'm glad it has stayed wet enough to keep the fire danger low. Our fire season begins in May and then ramps up June-September. It sounds like you have to be more prepared to get out quickly where you are situated. With that said, the up side of being in the area you describe is being ensconced in the beauty and serenity of nature. I've watched your videos and find them mesmerizing. I am a big animal lover, so seeing wallabies, which obviously we don't have here, is a treat for me. I think you should continue making videos, at least if you find it fun to do. I started making painting videos for fun and that hasn't stopped. I'm thrilled that you and others enjoy them because I have so much fun creating them. Cheers from Colorado!
@@chrisloudart yeah, I like to be as prepared as I can, of course there's still things that might get forgotten, but that will get dealt with if necessary. Yes it's beautiful here, the other down side is that algae and moss grows on everything in the winter so I spend the summer trying to wash it off with the pressure hose and because I chose not to use poisons, the spiders have taken up residence on the windows! Which is ok for the native wasp who collects the spiders by paralysing them and stuffing them into its mud nest for its babies, problem is the best is between the architrave of the door and the side of the door, so everytime the door is opened or closed its destroyed😀 They don't sting, except spiders, but you'd think it would make a better life decision as far as housing goes. Oh wow! I didn't know you looked at my videos, thank you! I actually looked at them the other day and was surprised to see that I had 2 subscribers and 77 looks!!😀😀 I couldn't put any more on RUclips for a while after I did a software update on my phone there was no up loading available for some reason. Well I do the videos because it's a bit of fun it's not a money spinner, there's quite a few young ones at the moment most of the older ones that allowed me to pet them have crossed over the rainbow road. It sounds like you live in a place where you are surrounded by all sorts of critters. I used to live in Virginia and we had similar wasps that I would watch drag spiders to there hole in the ground. I think you should keep making videos especially of the animals and insects you have around your home. Many people would find that really interesting. You could focus on day to day activities and your surroundings (including animals). What you describe to me is so foreign compared to where I live. I would love to hear you talk about the algae and moss and show you spraying it off. If you just look at what you've written to me, you have a bunch of little videos-wallabies, spiders, moss, solar panels, the terrain around you. Here is your goal: make a short video (5-10 minutes showing and discussing something you've written to me about). Make it conversational like your just telling a friend about something in your life. Cheers!
It was amazing to watch what you can do with those itens (brayer, etc) in 20 minutes. The final result is very interesting. This is something it is worth to try. Thanks 😊
The prompts are great! I got the whole bunch from etsy and there are many ways I will use them. Certainly as warm ups or just every now and then, I will also do them with my sister who always wanted to do something with colours, but did not yet dare to do so + I will give it a try with my grandchildren. Hey Karla! Unfortunately, you can't see in the video but there are some pen marks peeking through on the left and the bottom of the painting. The reason I throw down some marks early on is because some might show through at the end adding possible visual texture, depth and character to the background. But yes, sometimes it all gets covered up.😊
Some people have blank canvas syndrome. Like if I see it blank I have a fear to start. I always start with a pencil and create marks. It gives me the freedom to start, let loose and go with the flow. It is important to me. To your question , it depends on each individual. Cheers !!!
