About the folder thing - one tip for students that I saw on another video was to bring just one 'day folder' to college every day. This is a small folder with dividers so that you can separate your notes and handouts by classes and then when you finish a chapter or topic, you can transfer these papers into your big folders that you have for each separate class. I hope that made sense, I just thought I'd post it here in case it would be helpful for anyone!
Aoife m I do this too! And it's great because at the end of the day when you transfer your notes into their actual place, you get the chance to revise what you learned that day too :)
Congratualtions Thomas. We can watch you here on this channel to help us study and also on Crash Course as well. This might be one of the best school year of my life.
Thomas Frank hey, you might not see this but would it be possible if you made a video on how to stay awake/keep your energy going throughout the whole day for school and work?
Hey Dude, you are really helping a lot of people with your videos. I have personally become a bettter version of myself by using many tips that you have provided in your videos regarding personal development. Like building discipline by taking cold shower or taking accomplishments notes to build my self confidence. Thanks a lot for your videos and I hope you would continue to inspire the upcoming youngsters... keep it up!
6:00 I have these too! I have a very noisy neighborhood and these headphones changed my life! Now I can work with my windows open at summer without being distracted all the time.
I really like using notebinders. They have pocket dividers, so it's a binder, notebook, and folder all in one. I like the feel of writing in notebooks but the organization benefits of binders, and these are a great compromise.
I tried the whole noise-cancelling headphone thing last semester for some hardcore study sessions, but I found that they made me really motion sick. I assume it has something to do with my inner ear freaking out about the frequency that noise-cancels, but it's just a guess. But it's something to consider if you know you get motion sick easily before you spend all that money on headphones you can't use!
This was more fascinating than I expected ! I really appreciate the headphones recommendations. ALSO: I know your channel isn't about that, but do you plan on ever recording some of your workout sessions detailing how you train ? You're pretty inspirational in that regard I think.
Don’t know if this will be seen but I bought this same bag in black in 2017 per your recommendation. At the time it was near impossible to buy from eBag in Canada. So glad I did. Still using it to this day. Thanks Thomas
Funny, I was researching possibly getting a new backpack to take with me to a conference in Denver week after next. Really like that charger compartment and the fact that it stands up
Thomas, I cant thank you enough for all the help you give. Hopefully one day I can Pay It Forward on a scale half as close as you do. I recently went back to college after 20 years of no formal schooling; your video's have been a tremendous help. It has also rekindled my passion for cognitive study and the study of people. Please keep doing what you do brotherman!
Thanks so much for this, Thomas! It's really helpful to see what other people keep in their backpacks (and demotivating when I look back at mine and see all the trash sitting in the bottom...) Also, ignore what that other guy said - the llama transitions are awesome. :)
This review is spot on. I've used this bag for several years now. I just wish they made this exact same bag, but slightly larger. The other versions of this bag just aren't as good.
Great video! First, about the backpack, I really liked that compartment that you use to carry the MacBook charger - very useful. But the most important thing there is the bottle holder. My old backpacks had them and I used it all the time for a reusable water bottle or to carry a coffee bottle (Zojirushi ftw), and still miss it in my now Samsonite backpack... Only realized there wasn't a holder until I needed it... Guys, advice, specially if you're a student: get a bag with a bottle holder!!!
I was thinking about buying the Bose headphones, and now I'm convinced! :) I find it extremely difficult to study in noicy places, so if they work they're definitely worth the price! At least for me :)
I love your videos Thomas! Truly you motivated me a lot during my exams!! Thanks so much☺ You are really helping many students out and making them confident, consistent and also making us alert for the coming challenges!! Thanks mate..
I like how minimalist your set up is. Backpack's compartments and the way it stands reminds me of the Evernote Triangle messenger bag made by Abrasus. RIP. Noise canceling headphones is a very useful tip. Wondering why not have the workout headphones in workout bag? Another thing, a bit weary of the fabric. That bag looks new and in my past experience, when I had a grey bag, it got dirty over the coarse of a year. Maybe address it in your next update, if you can remember. :P That would be nice.
Hello Thomas. Your videos are really informative and helpful. It is a kind request that please publish a video on "How to use Evernote for taking notes", because I'll be starting with my semester and I want to transform myself from the traditional note-making techniques to the digital technology. Looking forward for your videos. Cheers.
Your original what's in my backpack video is how I found your channel two years ago! Surprised to see that you don't carry that huge extension cord anymore! :D
It was definitely useful during that time, but I've found that my current habits make it so that it's not needed. I try very hard not to book flights with long layovers anymore, and usually stay in AirBnBs or hotels rather than hostels (mainly because I've been primarily traveling for business as of late).
Just wanted to say that your content is very interesting, smart, and inspiring! Although I kinda stopped watching your videos, you motivated me to work extra hard in my last year of high school in the best ways possible. I finished my senior year with a 4.67 (because of APs) and am at my peak physical fitness! (The mind and the body are truly connected -- maybe you should make a video about that.) Thanks!
You know why I like your videos? Because you're one of the only male guys that talk about these things. All the rest of the RUclipsrs (females) just stall and waste time. They make their videos cutesy, and don't get into the seriousness of it. You are a great guy that get's straight to the point and helps others. Keep it going! :)
Would really love to see new updates on your daily carries and backpack. There are so many brands and models to choose from nowadays. I love your review in this video so much I have been recommending this backpack to my friends ever since, however there must be a better version that you are using these days?
Omg dude no way! You listen to Tool! I fangirled so hard. I've been subscribed for a while. Lots of your advice have really helped me (I'm in the process of building my own website. I don't really fancy shooting myself in the foot. I regularly visit your blog as well~) ANYWAYS.. You've got rad musical tastes.
I don't personally like the accordion/multi-pocket folders because if you lose that one folder holder you lose all the work you have (has happened to me and really sucks) whereas if you have many folders then losing one is not as bad.
Tip: Watch Tom's videos while eating lunch to save some time. They're the perfect time for it. Great video as always, always looking forward to the next one! *Investing and Business Related Videos 226/250 Subscriber Goal*
Yep - but it pretty much always makes the cord too short, and many outlets aren't strong enough to keep the brick from falling out. So I've just resigned myself to dealing with the longer cord, unless there aren't any 3-prong outlets around
For the accordian binder you can get a top loading binder that works great in a backpack. I got this for the student I am tutoring and it works much better because he can easily put papers in it without having to take it out of the pack. Here is the link: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H6BMC1Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Just started listening to your podcast. They are great. I would like to study in the US next year as an international freshman but I think I won't be able to get the resources to finance the study.
Can you do a video on tips for taking on leadership roles or networking ? I think that would be helpful for not only students but those on different paths. :) Your videos are very helpful!
Have you done a video about how to apply to colleges such as the college application process and tips for writing college admission essays? I think it would be very helpful. 😀
Hi Thomas, could you please do a video on exam technique as the majority of people seems to find it really easy to answer questions clearly. A lot of people I've talked to have the same problem :/ cheers.
I recommend the The No. 4 Coloud Earbuds, I use this for pretty much everything it's durable, tangle free, also it cancels out pretty much sound from outside. I am not advertising this earbuds it's just this earbuds do me a great deal of service it is almost $20 in their website I think. I hope this helps.

I haven't had the opportunity to try it out (it's a pretty big investment), but I know that trying to do any kind of work on my iPad Mini other than writing is pretty awful. But perhaps I'm just stuck in old ways :)

Lamine Keïta I'm sorry I didn't see your reply earlier, I think I saw it on Unjaded Jade's channel 😊
Good advice but I'm sick of his face
This was very helpful! Thank you buddy! :)

Thomas Frank hello
Congratualtions Thomas. We can watch you here on this channel to help us study and also on Crash Course as well. This might be one of the best school year of my life.
Did you get someone to do the work on the podcasts?

No umbrella? You downgraded Thomas.
Btw, I also like to live dangerously.
I lost mine at some point during the move to Denver... but it barely rains here anyway :)
Dude you're killing the game. I love your videos and I love your crash course series too. Keep doing what you do man.
Absolutely love your videos! The quality of the videos you put out is so clean and crisp and it is so pleasant to watch!

I'm sure Thomas Frank's content is awesome, but I'm too busy staring at his handsomeness.
Does anybody else find it adorable how excited he looks showing off his back pack haha

I've been run-commuting to work and school lately and it is the best thing ever! 😊
I really like these "what's in my backpack" videos. Hope you do them more often!
Am I the only one who was disappointed since he didn't have an AK with extended mags?
Watching this with my QC35 , absolutely the best headset I've ever used
Potatoes Potatoes Potatoes Potatoes Potatoes Potatoes
You win

I like your channel. You're a decent guy who guides us well in productivity and minimalism.

You keep a sunscreen with you, a man after my own heart
You're like the better version of all the youtube beauty gurus who do "what's in my bag" videos
You know what is truly weird though Thomas, I have 84% of those things I carry in my backpack. Thanks so much for sharing!
besides the great content, who also thinks he's really handsome 🙋🏻 btw i loved the backpack
Melissa Natasha Pereira Growing out his hair was the best thing he has ever done
He is adorable.
I always thought he was good looking, but that hair really ups the cuteness factor.
TTate I totally agree...
Melissa Natasha Pereira Recently, there's always somebody pointing that out on his videos. Or... is it you every time? (yandere alert?)
you are saving my life all the time with your videos, so thank you!!
YOU ARE THE BEST, you changed my life so much as a student, MIS student .. thank you thomas ..
Very good video, exceptional image and sound. Good job Thomas...
as an evernote guy i'm surprised you are not more paperless. evernote is great for paperless business cards and receipts.
4:32 They also don't break easily unlike bloody binders and folders
Thank you for such great content! Start my last semester in college next week and love all the useful info and research you give on your channel!

Check out the Everlast Rocketbook notebook. Erasable and lasts forever!:)
I'm a teacher, saw this video, and felt inspired to buy this backpack. It'll be on my doorstep in 3-5 days!
Thomas, ebags should have sponsored you!
Ha, I thought about that the day after posting this video! Maybe I'll reach out to them for a future video :)
Christopher Torres I'm glad I'm not the only teacher who watches these! I was thinking of getting the back pack also
feels like unboxing tho
I love that organizer compartment. So convenient! I need to find that bag :)
Preparing my backpack always made me excited for school 😄
Hey Thomas, would love to see your own opinion of taking notes on paper vs. taking handwritten notes on decides like surface/iPad etc.
Just wanted to say that your content is very interesting, smart, and inspiring!

Anyone else think Thomas as Productivity Bae?
I love the that it has so many pockets! It is an amazing backpack!! Awesome vid!!
Loved this man! Have you got many more back to school videos coming up? I'd love some!
Congratulations!!! for following the road to 1 million subscribers on each and everyday
omg I need that Cave Johnson picture back there

Nice video. I just purchased this backpack. Can’t wait to get it. Gotta love Bose. I have a set too. Love that business card holder. Thanks 4 sharing.
Might I recommend getting an external usb charger for your phone. Something like an anker battery would be a life saver and is not very expensive.
Haha, those descriptions of all the stuff for when you go to college XD
Omg dude no way! You listen to Tool! I fangirled so hard. I've been subscribed for a while. Lots of your advice have really helped me (I'm in the process of building my own website. The main thing why I love to watch men's "what's in my bag?" is, they get to the point immediately!!! Not after 20 minutes of telling another story...
Make a video showing what's on your phone
I don't personally like the accordion/multi-pocket folders because if you lose that one folder holder you lose all the work you have (has happened to me and really sucks) whereas if you have many folders then losing one is not as bad.
Thomas can you share a bit about your traving gear? Expecially for conferences, I think it would interest a lot of students
Always awesome stuff!! Keep it up, Thomas! One of my fav channels!!!!
YES finally! Someone gets the folder organizer! (Everyone has told me to use a binder all my life😂😅)
Tip: Watch Tom's videos while eating lunch to save some time. They're the perfect time for it. Great video as always, always looking forward to the next one!

I'm gonna be the in the top 5 students of my class! I'll do it!
Do you keep a journal and if you do does it help you or has it benefit you in your life? I'm keeping one and I think it helps greatly.
Oooooooooh, When I asked "Whatcha packing?" This is not what I had in mind.
Not sure if someone said this already but the "MacBook accessory thing " you have can be used to get rid of half of your charger cord.
Yep - but it pretty much always makes the cord too short, and many outlets aren't strong enough to keep the brick from falling out. So I've just resigned myself to dealing with the longer cord, unless there aren't any 3-prong outlets around
I laughed so hard at the return of potatoes potatoes potatoes AND the luigi amiibo. I knew I followed you for a reason! xD
❤️ Love my bose noise canceling headphones 🎧!!
For the accordian binder you can get a top loading binder

Just started listening to your podcast. They are great. I would like to study in the US next year as an international freshman but I think I won't be able to get the resources to finance the study.
Such a great bag!😍 And great video Thomas.
Out of curiosity, do you know your MBTI type?
Can you do a video on tips for taking on leadership roles or networking ? I think that would be helpful for not only students but those on different paths. :) Your videos are very helpful!
how much the whole thing weighs ? does it make you tired ? does it hurt your back ?
Have you done a video about how to apply to colleges such as the college application process and tips for writing college admission essays? I think it would be very helpful. 😀
Instead of buying a 60$ accordion binder, you can just buy like 50 cent folders and get a rubber band to band them together
Great video, as always.
Could you make a video about some online courses you do?
Can you talk about your job? Is nice to see where you are after all this time!!
I've had this same backpack for almost two years now and it's been the Best investment of my life.
Hi Thomas, could you please do a video on exam technique as the majority of people seems to find it really easy to answer questions clearly. A lot of people I've talked to have the same problem :/ cheers.
Yo I didn't know you lived in Denver!! That's awesome. So do I
I recommend the The No. 4 Coloud Earbuds, I use this for pretty much everything it's durable, tangle free, also it cancels out pretty much sound from outside. I am not advertising this earbuds it's just this earbuds do me a great deal of service it is almost $20 in their website I think. I hope this helps.
I carry the exact same things as you.
Except I have a Surface laptop instead of a macbook.
I use Herschel's backpack
That backpack video felt a bit more intimate than usual, doesn't mean I didn't like it :D I don't know why, but I feel like the composition of one's bag says a lot about who that person is. Currently watching this channel every morning, to get me motivated and productive throughout the day. Managed to work between 10-12 h every day on my bachelor thesis for the last two weeks, took an ice-cold shower every morning and started tracking my habits with habitica. Now my thesis is suddenly finished and I'm a bit afraid that I'm gonna lose that freshly acquired productivity, which felt really great. Now there is a lack of goals. Any tips on sudden breaks? How do I keep oriented and how do I prevent to fall back into my own comfort with a lack of direction?
Don't buy the bose Q35 now, they are releasing a new version pretty soon, some stuff has leaked :D Love the new Setup Thomas, the Background is dope
Love your Cave Johnson portrait 😏
Amazing! as promised in your podcast :) Hi Thomas I'm a big fan, really enjoy all your content, it help me a lot. Saludos desde Perú
What is your recommendation (study wise/life?) for we students that aren't going to be taking courses this term to stay connected to our major, which in my case is nursing? I don't want to lose what we've worked diligently to store in my brain.
Hey Thomas, could you do a Kindle review please? I'm considering to buy one, but it's rather pricey where I live (Brazil). So a review with its pros and cons would be very helpful! Thanks for your great videos!!
Is the one picture of the guy in the back from portal? If so I love it
British version: umbrella...
Btw, is there any videos on 1: How to write papers. 2: How to read a book (non text book) ?
Love the videos, love the Deep Work ideas in others videos!!!! Keep being great 👍
What's up with the lama
Thomas, what do you think about the iPad Pro with Apple Pencil as a tool for a student? I think it can replace many of your stuff in the bag simultaneously..
I haven't had the opportunity to try it out (it's a pretty big investment), but I know that trying to do any kind of work on my iPad Mini other than writing is pretty awful. But perhaps I'm just stuck in old ways :)
