    As someone who uses the Fjalraven backpack a few times a week, I have to disagree with it being a good everyday bag. The shoulder straps are not padded enough and after about an hour or less of walking around with this bag on the straps are cutting into my shoulders and making everything hurt. It is lightly loaded with one 8oz water bottle, and change of clothes, and snacks for my 4 year old. Size wise and material, it’s a sturdy bag, but the shoulder straps need serious work for it to be a regular carry.

      Just sayin...I use the Fjallraven Raven 28 everyday, super loaded with 2 laptops, umbrella, 18oz. water bottle, camera, electronics and LOTS of other stuff...I find the straps to be every bit as comfortable as my Mystery Ranch Urban Assault 21!

      I won't even put a sling without pads 😂😂😂 seems like a trend bag more than a real bag everyday. Never tried but seems like a basic bag when I looked at it. I use to do a lot of Peak Design but the design started looking like a diaper bag , their slings. I started using Code Of Bell.

      i agree with this! this is why i got the laptop fjallraven (which has padded straps) back in 2017, but even then, i found the straps too thin + the material wore down very quickly for me making it look 'worn out' after ~1 year of use :(

    Alder Stream canvas is definitely my go to. Not very well known brand, but their packs are some of the best quality/durability to value options on the market. Heavy weight 18oz duck canvas (request to order), full-grain leather straps, high polish belt style buckles all over the pack, machine-pressed rose brass rivets holding hardware and strapping, double, triple, and quadruple stitched seams, all for around $250. Several color options available, and every pack is made to order. I highly recommend checking them out if you grow tired of replacing under-performing day packs every 2-3 years.

    For EDCs it's important to consider empty weight too. After years of happy daily use of an eastpack, I switched to a north face recon. It felt so pointlessly heavy even when half empty that after 3 months I sold it and went back to my old reliable (500 g.) eastpack

    • @RushfasterTV
      @RushfasterTV  9 месяцев назад

      Thank you for your feedback! When choosing an everyday carry (EDC) bag, it's crucial to consider its empty weight. Your experience of switching to a heavier bag and then returning to your lighter Eastpack emphasizes the importance of finding a balance between durability and weight. The right EDC bag should not only meet your organizational needs but also be comfortable, especially in terms of weight, for your daily use:)

I suppose you buy it for the brand or something ?, because it looks(and as I see from the organisation inside is almost nothing) like a cheap junk for 20-30 dollars that I find in a random shop in my town. Hi everyone,
    I previously put a lot of trust in the AER Travel Pack 3, having bought BOTH the 28 and 35-liter versions in the X-Pac variant, and I really liked them. However, they are just too heavy for daily use, especially commuting to university. I'm looking for a backpack that includes:
    - separate zip compartments for a Macbook Pro 16inches and an iPad,
    - is waterproof,
    - has a slot for a water bottle
    - features a breathable back panel.
    - has a lot of compartments/zippers like the AER, preferably accessible from the outside of the bag
    - can be opened completely (sometimes I like to fit a camera packing cube inside as I’m a photographer too, but usually this happens when I don’t have my Mac on me)
    Budget is not a constraint as I'm willing to invest in quality and functionality. If anyone could recommend a lighter alternative that meets these criteria, it would be a huge help.
    Thanks for your assistance!
    Best,
    Mattia

      Hi Mattia! Based on your requirements, we recommend checking out the Peak Design Everyday Backpack. It meets all your criteria including separate compartments for your MacBook Pro and iPad, waterproofing, a water bottle slot, breathable back panel, plenty of compartments, and easy access zippers. Plus, it's lighter compared to the AER Travel Pack 3:)

    For the Jansport option the leather bottom is a bit better for durability and a little bit more dollars. I also love the ll bean deluxe bookbag which surprised me. Just be aware about how you unzip and to distribute the load. I mention those points cuz a lot of the bad reviews are stupid parents blaming the zipper getting caught on the storm flap so they think the zipper breaks and complain about not being able to return. I have a second ll bean backpack which is the mountain classic and also surprised me with the durability and how much I liked it. Dakine student campus backpack is also a nice budget option. I love budget backpacks... can't justify spending more than 100$ right now.

    • @RushfasterTV
      @RushfasterTV  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for sharing your insights! It's good to know about the durability benefits of the leather bottom on the Jansport option. The LL Bean Deluxe Bookbag sounds impressive too, but as you mentioned, it's important to be mindful of how you distribute the load and handle the zipper. The Dakine Student Campus Backpack also sounds like a solid budget-friendly choice. Budget backpacks can offer great value without breaking the bank!

    What seriously surprised me, is that of all the bags you presented, you did not have one that had security features and are mostly all a pickpocket’s dream. I would use non of them, simply because for the use as an everyday bag the risk of theft in a (crowded) subway or bus is way to big, because all pockets are exposed to the front and not to the back. An additional point is that non of the bags has an external USB plug to charge you phone from an internal power brick.
    And just for references: My daily backpack is the Kingsons Beam Backpack, for $ 120.
