@@Xbalanque84my spidey senses are going bananas with this comment.
As if it were written by either a programmed line of code, a low paid intern at a third-world troll mill, or simply yet another one of our treacherously useful brain parasite-ridden brothers and sisters.
One very common thing you will come to see in the comments sections of channels like these, which rebel against "The Message," is the ubiquitous, easy to deploy stock phrase, "source." Among several variations, ofc.
And what's my point? Isn't it good, and perhaps even necessary for any claim, for you to be able to immediately whip out that exceedingly specific reliable source material, which gives credibility and legitimacy to your claim? I mean, if you have no source, then why should anyone believe what you're saying? ...it's not like we all have our own capacities of independent reasoning, right?
I find my answer to the previous paragraph's main question in how I tease out the absurdity of "Xbalanque's" question.
"Do you have a source for [the example you use to bolster your argument]?"
Your example uses reductio ad absurdum. There's not supposed to be any proof of it! That's the point:
This thing [how diversity is actually occuring] is the same as this thing [the absurd scenario of short Asian ladies demanding to be staring in the NBA].
If you want diversity in academia, why not in the NBA? Simple enough point.
The troll then tries to undermine your argument by asking for a source, as if your argument were the highest block stacked up in a game of Jenga, and the example you gave were the evidence required to make that point.
It's almost like they're begging the question, and asserting necessary conditions into your logic that are in fact not necessary.
You see, like grammar rules, it's quite complicated to explain, but it's just something we can understand intuitively... as human beings.
Now, if you were a line of code spewing out the formulaic potshot to undermine people's ideas, then you wouldn't be able to distinguish the hypothetical, and you'd go for the "source?" even though it's completely out of place in a hypothetical situation.
That, or they're just a low-paid, inattentive intern, or a useful sheep.
Thanks for reading. Sorry for the ponderous tome. Goodnight.

My local state university advertised a job opening for their HR Director. The ad stated “Women and minorities strongly encouraged to apply.” Most if not all HR departments are staffed at 80% to 100% levels by women. Caucasian heterosexual males call it Affirmative Discrimination and read the statement as that they need not inquire.

@@StudioBrule I could have ended up in academia but now I’m so glad I didn’t as I couldn’t tolerate the woke hellhole universities have become. Back in the day I worked very hard on an application for a scholarship for a PhD that my brilliant professor supervisor helped me put together. My application failed so I improved it and applied the following year but my proposal still wasn’t accepted. I could tell my supervisor was very surprised but it makes perfect sense. ALL of the PhD students in the department who had received the scholarship were female. Unfortunately, as a white male, I never stood a chance!

Another gem from Janice! She nails it as usual.. it is amazing how these professional victims will always find a way to play the victim even when they are the most privileged members of our society, given unearned preferential treatment to the detriment of the rest of us. And of course we all have to endure the humiliation of playing along with the obnoxious lie or risk being canceled and losing our livelihood.

People in extremely fortuitous positions rarely pause to examine how they got there. Was it really because they were hard-working and talented and tenacious, or did they just get lucky? And then to *complain* about the "problems" that accompany one's privilege...ugh. I can't even.

1:45 what's particularly wacky about this is that true diversity cannot exist with one individual, it's a property that groups havea group of clones is minimally diverse, a group where everyone's random and as different as possible from each other is maximally diverse. But a single person cannot be diverse, that makes no sense

I had an acquaintance at the University of Tennessee, 1990, who asked me to go to a dealership and negotiate a price on a Geo Metro for her. I told her she should get something more durable and her answer was: "I'm a black woman graduating with a degree in electrical engineering. I'll be giving that car away in a year." I absolutely loved that. She was given an advantage. She acknowledged that advantage and made good on it; like any rational, hard working person would.

Thank You Studio B. Your logical thoughts are clarifying. In short, I lost a premotion to a Consultant Anaesthetic Job at a UK Teaching Hopital to a second generation Indian lady colleague. Later I heard it said in honest jest, that the selection pannel had killed two "diversity quotas" in one. Actually, She was probably selected partly on ability equal to mine, more pannel members actually liked her than me, but the overarching reason, may have been that she was percieved as more Welsh as me (English). And I will conceed that, she was a better fit for the job, regardless of the ease with which we could couch the selection in Diversity terms. Actually, she was more politically mature than me too.
So, on balance, she was the better candidate, and a shame about the Positive Descrimination comments held within the department.
    Many thanks

It's interesting to hear a quota hire complain about quota hiring. Imagine what an unemployed white man would have to say about his experience with hiring discrimination due to him not belonging to a quota hire group.

No. Not the ‘affirmative action’ beneficiaries are the real victims, and, ‘feminism harms women’? I guess, any other opposition to evil in our society might be considered racism or sexism, against, those who count as people. lol, ‘boys benefit from hands on training and recess periods’. Anything to keep from even giving off the Appearance of blaming feminism, what people know to be wholesome and true (or perhaps, anything to keep from giving off the Appearance of committing the punishable offense of being insensitive, at least towards those who count as people).

See my username? I'm blk, been on the receiving end of this crap from progressive do gooders for years. The best jobs (contract) I ever had were ones where I was not asked about my race and only my resume and phone interviews (way before video calls) and the company not knowing who I am until the day I turned up. Now I'm required to disclose to employers my race right up front while submitting my resume. If that is not a recipe for quota grooming and discrimination on so many levels then I don't know what to say.
