I have done a lot of lasagna for the military men and women at the VA hospital near by. But I love doing blankets for my family. You gave me some great ideas. Thanks so much. Yours are beautiful ❤❤
Oh my, I LOVE your color choices! I can't wait to see your continued progress on this one! Thanks for sharing! You have a gorgeous range of stash yarn!
What a great podcast! I loved watching you go through all of your stash to pick all of your beautiful colors. I love the pattern you chose. I'm doing a baby blanket in panels right now and I'll have to sew them all together at the end, which I'm pretty nervous about since it is a gift.❤🧶
I have also been thinking about making that blanket for a while now. And so far it's been the joining process that have intimidated me from starting, particularly once it'll start to get heavy. But I just had a thought (right before seeing your video). That if I used the idea of the blanket and made it in Tunesian crochet, then maybe it'd be easier, if nothing else then because I wouldn't have to turn my work all the time... Really looking forward to seeing how it works out for you. The colours you chose are lovely!
It is a really pretty design! Hmmm, I wonder if even a slip or single crochet stitch join could work. Thanks for sharing that thought. I'll have to play with that too!
I‘m not as big fan of knitted blankets, but you got me thinking about making one. Cause your color choice makes all the difference and it doesn’t look scrappy at all. Really like your aesthetics!
Thanks! Yeah, color seems to always be at the root of something looking scrappy vs curated. But I also just always pick the same colors for my yarn, so it ends up being kinda both. 😅🙈
Bits and bobs is a blanket I'm thinking of making but I did look at the one you chose too. If I do it I think I'd do the colors sort of like a bargello quilt. Also I tell everyone that I'm a renter and shut the door. No issues, no worries lol
Regarding solicitors: If you have a two-story house, hang out one of the upstairs windows and say "whaddaya want?!". Then tell them to leave; no matter who it is if they have no real reason for being at your door or were not invited. You can do the same through a window on a one story. One thing for sure, never open the door for someone - no matter who - if they have no rightful reason to be at your house. I like the pattern you are knitting. I really like knitting afghans.
We now have a doorbell where I can tell them through my phone I'm not interested. 🙌🏻 I just tend to forget I have it. 🤦🏼♀️ Thanks so much! I am excited for the blanket. 😄
5:24 I’ve never knit anything so large- how do you knit something larger than your needles (I know of circular needles but even this blanket seems too massive for circulars) 🤔
I have a really long cord for my circular needles, i think the cord without needles is 40". But even then then the stitches are very bunched up on the needles. Just part of such a big project. 🙈😅
Oh this is very timely for me! I too love making blankets for the family, half scrappy but kind of planned as you’re doing here, half stash diving. But I have a question regarding fiber. I’m always hesitant about mixing fibers, I want to know I can wash the whole thing… it’s happened before that I washed my 90% acrylic blanket on warm (kids had had a stomach bug….) and the rows with wool shrunk… how do you handle it?
I honestly have only ever needed to wash a few times and those were all the same fibers and machine washable. This new one however I will definitely be washing in my tub in cool/warm water with a wool soap. Washing to accommodate to the most sensitive fibers in the blanket, which would be the Drop Lima (the main white). I have all manner of fibers in it though, but I'm not too worried about it being as I know, going into it, it will be a hand wash only item. I know with kids it is so hard to avoid messes and unhappy accidents. 😬 Which makes for more thought in making family use items.
You don't need to ‘slam’ the door. Just back up, say ‘no thanks’ and gently, but firmly, close the door…nice video. Looking forward to see what you do with this blanket…

That's so nice! 🖤 I only knit tiny baby blankets for other people. I take too long to gift them. Lol

Thanks! Yeah, I've had a lot of it for a while now, I'm happy to finally have a project for the random hanks and minis I like so much. 😄

Loved this video, thank you for sharing! Your blanket is going to be absolutely beautiful!

That will be pretty! I did that once, said I was the baby sitter. 😂
You can make half white rows on each strips (vertical white), to make the seam much nicer I think, since it will be white to white
Oooo! That's an idea! Thanks. I'll play with that too! 😄

@@denimandrainaaah ok, thank you!!
I crocheted my boyfriend a blanket and then he became my husband tooo!!❤
Oh how fun! Was yours symmetrical or asymmetrical like mine? 😅🙈

I am a beginning knitter. What size needles did you use for your garter stitch blankets? Flat or circular?
Oh goodness. Ha, I don't remember. 🙈 I'm pretty sure it was a 10mm needle. Pretty chunky. And I used long circulars.

I'm even bad at gently closing it. 😅 I just don't want them to feel bad. 🤪 Thanks so much!
