    After watching the video and listening to all of your criteria I think realistically the sunset sweater would be your best bet in all the warm neutrals that you love with the drop shoulder construction and the colorwork only in the round, but on the body as well as the sleeves. I think you'll love it! I can't wait to see it on you. I think while you can appreciate the other patterns they don't really excite you and you won't like the fit, construction or process of making them. ❤🧶

    I LOVE the design you’re wearing! I was going to call it modern, but then you showed it’s vintage! I love it’s simplicity 🤍

      It is pretty modern in it's simplicity! I guess that was the age of the mid century modern, and making things more minimal, so I'm sure some clothing also reflected that! 🤩

    Thank you for these ideas! I'm currently working on the Bergman sweater. It's been a great color work sweater for me (my first!). The worsted weight helps the project move along and the design is so beautiful. Thanks always for your inspiration and I love your authenticity as you present! Have a great day!

    Not crazy about colorwork, but will do it if it speaks to me. I love the sweater you're wearing and those colors. You should make a pattern for it. It's so flattering.

    I love these! That Smilgas has been sitting in my 'potentials' list for awhile now but I'm also terrified of flat colorwork so we shall see. Nice to dream up potential yarns/colors though. My favorite designer for colorwork is Rachel Illsley (Unwind Knitwear). Unfortunately I think they are mostly round yoke, but still stunning inspiration to look through :) I've made her Nightbook design and it is hands down my favorite sweater in my hand knit wardrobe. Susan Crawford also has INCREDIBLE all over, smaller colorwork designs that are very inspired from traditional fair isle but have a modern twist to them.

    Agree that some yoked colourwork sweaters don’t fit well, I’ve knit a few. But ones that do fit well are the Pohjohla by Sari Nordlund, that fits beautifully and is a lovely pattern, also Caitlin Hunter’s fit well , the Soldotna and the revised Birkin: wear them constantly and were a pleasure to knit.And I did knit that gingham sweater with the bad choking neckline, I did some mods to neck but it still doesn’t fit well, the Sandnesgarn would be a much better bet

    That Lene sweater just moved near the top of my to-do list. I love a more modern style but I'd never seen it before, so I'm thrilled you brought it forward! I'm planning to do the terracotta sweater instead of the porcelain sweater by leknit -- if your jam is warm coppery/caramel-y colours + off-white-ish, you might enjoy staring at the pretty pictures there too.

      Isn't that Lene sweater so good! :D Ooo, yes, those colors are my jam, thanks, I will look that up!

    I love colorwork! I just finished the Wilderness Sweater by Linka Neumann a couple days ago. I did modify to a top-down construction and added a few shortrows at the back of the neck, the pattern is originally bottom up with no shortrows. I've also knit multiple Mary P. Hunt patterns, loooove her stuff.

      Just looked up the wilderness sweater, what a Fun sweater! And love that you made mods to make the process and end product just how you want. :D

    Thank you for a beautiful episode. I love colorwork knitting , I have tried many patterns , Mary Wallin’s patterns are stunning . A very important tip is to test your colorwork knitting style to check which is your dominant (more showing) color .. some knitters say it’s the way you hold your yarn , right and left hands , but I think it’s more about how tight or loose each of your 2 yarns are knitted

    • @denimandrain
      @denimandrain  29 дней назад +1

      Ha! That's a good point, I am such a tight knitter, so I should probably test different methods to maybe see if there is a way that makes it more enjoyable/better end result! :D Thanks!

    Well, I used to say I'd never knit a colorwork and didn't like the look of them when I first started knitting but lately, i'm spending time on Ravelry looking through colorwork designs and even created a dream bundle there. Ive been crocheting a lot longer and just made my first colorwork bag (the Corfu bag) which will be a gift. After watching your video I went and checked out Solvana's knitwear page on Ravelry and found she had Josephine Mitts so I purchased those to practice and even see if I'm able to follow her style of writing patterns before purchasing the sweater pattern which I really really love and want to make exactly in red as she has.

    • @denimandrain
      @denimandrain  29 дней назад

      I love crochet, I started with that too. Oh yeah, the mitts are super cute too! Probably a good place to start. I should look at those too! :D

    I looooveee knitting colorwork. It was a big reason why I wanted to start knitting. I don't know what my "secrets" are because I don't know what's not to like about it hehe
    I started with colorwork home decor specifically "fancy hen" to practice colorwork without having to worry about the fit. and I do recommend doing a pillow or an ornament or something small to just enjoy the beauty and not worry about if it fits or not. Just for funsies

    • @denimandrain
      @denimandrain  29 дней назад

      Yeah, I do knit colorwork in small things, and I don't mind it so much there. I think it is just the size of sweaters that always gets to me. lol

    These are all so pretty, that Porcelain Sweater is on my list, and now the Smilgas Cardigan too, thank you!
    I'm definitely a product knitter when it comes to colourwork, the process is not enjoyable, but I'll power through for that FO.

    Some beautiful sweaters here. Thanks for sharing. I've just finished a test knit colourwork yoke in fingering weight for Teti Lutsak (the Candelariella pullover) and really enjoyed it, so I'm looking for more colourwork pieces, but maybe not another fingering weight right away 😂 I've been eyeing up the Alpine Bloom, or variant, lately.

    OMG OMG OMG I am obsessed with your sweater!!! 😍😍😍. It’s so…PERFECT. It’s the pattern I’ve been searching for! I know you said you just made it up, but can I buy the pattern from you? Some of us don’t have those kind of skills yet (to just make it up). Please share?

    • @denimandrain
      @denimandrain  20 дней назад

      Thanks! 😁 I probably wont be making up a pattern for it. But I do have a post on my IG with my hand drawn colorwork chart. You could pick your favorite raglan sweater and add it to that! Just make it so your body and arms have a stitch count divisible by 15.

    I’m a fan of colorwork. Look into knitting backwards for the knit flat sweaters. It’s a game charger! One of my favorite “heart eyes” sweater is Breton Spice. The colors a little more bold than my usual, but it’s so awesome!

    thank goodness ravelry doesn't limit us or the designer by size inclusivity - its almost like censorship of a designer for whatever reason does not fit in. Sure its nice if we have child sizes with adult and oversizes but sometimes not possible....

    • @denimandrain
      @denimandrain  29 дней назад

      Ravelry is really a great place for designers to be able to offer patterns of all size ranges! I have some patterns that I have purchased with more limited size ranges. For this though I do like to try and make it as inclusive as I can. :D
