Another I bought for my daughter when she bought a house and it is hooked up as a UPS in her home office and wifi. I love them and wish I had the money to buy more. There has been a few occasions that the power went off and I didn't notice until I realized they tv was off. I was on my laptop and the wifi never missed a beat. @@Dan_Neely Just bought some, it has a 30ms switch on time as a UPS. They don't recommend it for use for data servers, workstations, or medical devices. I'm sure this is to protect them from liability for data loss or injury. On the other hand, depending on your device, and how you use it, a 30ms power delay may cause a reboot, affecting work in progress, or a missing a few seconds or (restart time) minutes of use of the medical device. There are plenty of UPS sold for computer use that don't switch on fast enough to avoid rebooting lots of computers; there are plenty of computers that can handle a 30ms outage (but not all). Many medical devices will restart fairly quickly after a power interruption, but how long and how serious the effect depends on the type of device.

    Ironically I was mentioning this to a semi driver, who was wanting to run an air fryer for his food but also use it to charge a battery for a piece of equipment at night when he sleeps as he is away all week in it. This idea was instead of installing an inverter in his cab and having to idle every night to stop the batteries from going flat and also it was a long term rental truck. Starts to make sense if buying everything to fit and risking the hire company not liking something aftermarket installed not by them against a unit sat on the floor that the driver can take with him to the next truck.

Only used the Jackery once last winter, power was down for about 14 hours. My heat is propane, so just needed fans. I plugged in my router, TV, and desktop, too, and had my normal interwebz even with the power down. I pack it around the yard instead of running a series of cords, throw it in the boat or the car....... so handy! Ecoflow looks maybe even better than the Jackery.

    To date, I have a Delta 2 and Delta 2 Max with each batteries(1 for Delta 2 and 2 for Delta 2 Max) that I got to replace two 2k Honda generators. I have used them in power down and on camping trips. At this point I am very happy with them. Time will tell if the products hold up. I am not to interested in a warranty, as I want it to work when I need it, not get replace placed when the failed when I need it. I will be keeping one generator, as backup for when solar is not charing.
    One of the best things about a battery based system, is the lack of needing to keep fuel around and the fumes when using.
    Did a 11 day trip with the Delta 2 and a small fridge. No noise for 11 days. The people around us did have a generator and that was smelly and. noisy. We also had a larger solar setup on a trailer with a full sized fridge and freezer that we kept going all the time with solar and battery. It was nice to not need to make noise to keep the food cool.

      A generator running off a 4 cycle gasoline or propane engine converts the stored chemical energy in the fuel into electrical energy. These units convert chemical energy stored in the batteries into electrical energy. You recharge your typical generator by adding more chemicals that were typically made with solar energy 1000's of years ago, you can recharge these generators with solar energy collected now.

    • @CaseyLaDelle
      @CaseyLaDelle  Месяц назад +10

      @@noneentered1 people like to say that they aren’t generators because they don’t create power without solar hooked up. But those same people fail to realize that an internal combustion engine generator doesn’t create power unless you add a fuel to it either.
      No matter which setup you use, you have to supply it with an external fuel in order to generate usable electricity. The difference in that the external fuel these use is simply the sun, while the others require gas, diesel, propane, ect.

      The term "solar generator " is a made up term by the industry to distinguish their products from other power storage units that don't have on board solar charging capabilities. I too dislike that term. If you use the strict definition of the term a solar panel best fits the phrase "solar generator" as actually generates power from solar energy instead of rotational energy.

    • @CaseyLaDelle
      @CaseyLaDelle  Месяц назад +4

      @@pumpdump4476 but a solar panel does not create usable electricity that you can plug a device into and use. You need something that takes the energy created by the solar panel, and generates usable electricity.
      Internal combustion engine generators are exactly the same. They take an outside energy source (fuel) and use it to generate usable electricity.
      Both are generators, they just use a different fuel source. The big difference is the ability to store that electricity and have it be usable when the fuel source isn’t present. Internal combustion engine generators are not capable of that

    Through your fathers' day link (I think that's what it was.) I bought a complete set of two DeltaFlow Max systems with a bonus solar panel kit. I'm still experimenting, but one is designated to charge my new EGO brand Zero-Turn mower and, outside of needing to be charged so I could mow before the system arrived/was set up, the mower hasn't been charged on anything else since. The mower requires 1 and 1/2 generators to get a full charge in about an hour, but like I said, I'm still experimenting and debating on getting extra eco-flow batteries. But I love the system as it is!
    The first time I charged the mower I didn't have the supercharger set up yet so I was charging the batteries individually and each one took about an hour to charge. It comes with 4 10 AH batteries. And, now I have a 5th battery plugged into the mower, a 5AH, and the total charge time is about an hour with the eco-flow.

    I just bought the wave 2 for the bunk of my truck because I don’t do heat well, needless to say it was worth every penny (basically the value of the Canadian dollar) I wish I had the unit years ago because this summer is the first one I managed to get a good nights sleep no matter the temperature. I am looking forward to see how the heater function works this winter, but I don’t have any regrets thus far so even if the heater isn’t quite good enough I can still use the diesel air heater.

    I purchased a Delta 2 , December 2022 and haven’t regretted it for one moment. It’s powerful enough to run my top load washer, toaster over, coffee maker, Instant pot. It doesn’t have a lot of reserve power but it’s a fair trade off for cost and portability. I like that I can change the charge rate via the phone app. I have three other different brand solar generators, but this is by far my favorite.

    I have the River2 Pro and the Wave 2. The Wave2 has kept my 15' camper cool and comfortable on multiple 90-100 degree camping trips. It works so well, I moved it to my bedroom in my house when I was not camping. The River2 Pro has worked flawlessly. I use it for camping when I do not have shore power, and running a cooler in my car. If I had realized the usefulness of their high power port, I would have gone with a delta series. I would have liked the option of running my Wave from it, and the car alternator charging would be a real win for me.

    I bought the River 2 with a 100 w solar panel to use with the replacement battery for my cameras. The replacement battery's plug into an AC outlet so the camera has power continuously. I used it to take pictures at the Fourth or July parade and a movie of the Fireworks later that night. Stated with a full charge of 100 % and finished with 92 %. I also used it to take pictures of the solar eclipse last April. I don't need it for a lot of power usage, but also used it to run my Dremel to grind down a camera mount. To run my jigsaw to cut up some wood for a project I am working on. And I will us it to run my camera's as I take pictures at The WWII re-enactment at Midway Village in Rockford in September. The best money I spent.

    I bought the Ecoflow Delta Pro with an extra battery. My main use is for emergency power outage. its been sitting under my bed for 4 months. Plugged it in last week to top off charge for 2 night camping trip. Battery was still 100%. Used main unit to keep my 100 liter portable fridge freezer powered. I'm positive that was overkill. I would rather have overkill than worry about power. At this point Im verr happy with my purchase. I will see it how it performs this fall and winter. I live in the San Juan Islands in the Pacific Northwest. Power outages is a part of life here in the fall and winter. My only gripe is Ecoflow has come out with the Ecoflow Delta Pro 3, now I want that model because it has 240v and the extra batteries are more compact. Finally, an ad for battery-in-a-box devices that doesn't erroneously call them "solar generators". Closest solar generator is 93 million miles away.
    I'm surprised Casey was messin' around with all those fuel jugs. I use a couple of DOT approved 30 gallon drums, a dolly, and a hand pump system I made. Sure beats lifting and carrying those jugs and trying to not spill gas all over the top of the generator (or the snow blower/mowers). I use a 9500/12500 portable generator connected with a manual transfer switch for whole-house backup power. It's a hell of a lot cheaper to buy and run (and fix) than a Generac.

    The really cool thing about their dual-fuel generator is that you can run on propane only. That means your fuel supply can sit for years with no worry about it going bad, and zero maintenance on the generator. If you run gas-powered equipment, you know it needs all sorts of maintenance, fresh fuel, carburetors unclogged, etc. every year. That's why so many gas-powered tools are being replaced by battery-operated tools. Propane power also means you can have a huge tank as your fuel storage. It's like having a battery that runs for years on a single charge. Ideal for a stationary generator for backup power.

    I have a Delta Max 2. Love it. I use it at the hunting camp to keep the power on to the cabin. In the summer it can run everything with zero issue. For a week straight we had the smoker running almost 24/7 and ran the fridge and stereo off it. Granted we had major overcast so our solar production was garbage but we still managed to have it full power by end of the day. Compared to previous years running the genset all the time... it was like night and day. I am building a bigger permanent setup now, because in winter it doesn't quite have enough juice to run the furnace when its -20 outside, plus LiFePo batteries don't like the cold. But for our mobile and smaller stuff it is an absolute champ when compared to generators.

    Power outages usually happen during severe storms in my area. My fridge is my second thought. My first thought is the sump pump in my basement. Our basement entrance is below grade and everything from those steps flows to the sump. I do have have a battery back up pump that buys me the time I need to connect my 8500 watt emergency generator and throw the transfer switch. However I am considering an EcoFlow battery as a better option for the sump. Essentially an uninterruptible power source. Not as "big" as this.

We have used it a few times at home. Ours is the older version that doesn't have as high a charging from solar and can't be upgraded with additional batteries. We have solar and a larger lithium battery on our trailer and it works well. It can power everything we need including the Air Conditioner. Solar is great so we don't have to use our generator all the time.

I love the flexibility of charging. Many of the places we go are not good for solar, so I can simply run my gas generator for an hour or so and easily be toped off for the night. The 100W USB-C PD port is super handy for charging my drone batteries as well. It is light weight enough that I have no problems getting it into my RTT on top of my Jeep. The app is pretty convenient to check on solar input when adjusting panels or checking on status without having to leave the comfort of your chair next to the camp fire.
