A lot of songs are just a combination of sounds written to give people some kind of energy as a background noise. And then there are songs like "Due Vite" that offer a deeper emotional experience which you feel without speaking the language because the music, voice and emotions are the most powerful language. First I was blown away by the musical beauty of this track, and Marco's outstanding performing skills took it to another level. Then I dived into the meaning of the lyrics, Marco's explanation of the song and his experiences that inspired it, I translated the lyrics to my native Lithuanian language, and my heart connected to all of this on such a deep level. Very few songs I've ever heard have caused so much emotion. It touches on so many experiences - doubts, overthinking, self-hatred, feeling misunderstood, and all of that is presented in such a poetic and subtle way. Every time I hear it I am left in awe of its timeless quality, and Marco's talent and his beauty makes it just a perfect combination. Italy has sent a diamond that's just too precious to win this contest, but I'm so glad that they did. Grazie mille, Italia.
Italy sending a masterpiece once again, but is that a surprise? Already loved their previous entries and this one hits hard too. I love the melody, the lyrics and Marco is such a great singer. You can feel the lyrics through his interpretation, his eyes are sparkling and telling their own story. Watching his live performances is truly an experience. There is also another detail to keep in mind. The songs are made for the Sanremo festival and not for Eurovision (the winner then, if he wants, has the right to participate in Eurovision. Participation in Eurovision is, we could say, just a “side effect”. For an Italian artist to win the Sanremo festival is the high point of his career). So they have their own originality, they are more authentic. Not like those nations that organize singing events exclusively to choose a singer/a song to send to Eurovision. I'm Italian and I'm reading all the comments under this video and I'm really moved by the words that many of you have written. when marco won san remo, he was criticized for the fact that his song didn't give emotions (when it didn't) and he was very bad (he even cried during an interview) but despite everything he showed his worth and he will in liverpool on 13 may. I am also sorry to read comments where the song is "the usual Italian ballad", when in reality this song is not for everyone. I really hope you enjoy marco's performance at euroviosion. Freudianamente potremmo dire l’Es, il nostro io più profondo, privato, forse anche più vero e autentico, ma che cerchiamo di nascondere agli altri perché temiamo il giudizio sulle nostre paure e fragilità (i fiori nella camera); e l’Ego, quello pubblico, la maschera (la maglia Metallica) dietro cui ci nascondiamo e che mostriamo agli altri per essere accettati, apprezzati. Due vite parallele che entrano in conflitto la notte quando tace la musica ( i rumori, il frastuono, le chiacchiere che di giorno ci circondano e ci impediscono di ascoltare il nostro inconscio) e si spengono le luci facendo risplendere (esplodere in tutta la sua bellezza, ma anche violenza perché ci mette a nudo) solo la luna. Iniziamo allora, nel buio della notte a fare i conti con noi stessi, con quel nostro deserto interiore che non riusciamo a conoscere nonostante siamo i soli svegli (soggettività pensanti e consapevoli) in tutto l’universo, con le situazioni irrisolte, l’incapacità di chiudere con una telefonata una relazione stanca, e la nostra vita ci appare come un insieme di contraddizioni, buttata lì sul pavimento come un romanzo che non vale la pena di leggere o, peggio di continuare a scrivere. Due vite che nel dormiveglia si fondono e confondono in un susseguirsi di immagini, situazioni, stati d’animo, senza un apparente filo logico, come un flusso di coscienza in cui si alternano realtà e fantasie, bene e male, vero e falso, il nostro essere tutto e il contrario di tutto, i mostri e le fate. E non dormiamo mai. Abbiamo paura di dormire perché nel buio e nella solitudine della notte non arriva la musica (la colonna sonora con cui cerchiamo di riempire, abbellire, distrarre la nostra inautentica vita diurna) e non possiamo mettere a tacere la voce del nostro inconscio che ci dice che sbagliamo, sbagliamo, pur sapendo di sbagliare, quando ci affanniamo, corriamo, ci facciamo prendere a schiaffi dagli eventi, producendo solo errori e disordine perché tradiamo noi stessi. Invece dovremmo imparare ad accettare l'apparente non senso della vita, la follia che sembra ballare sopra tutte le cose, a convivere con le nostre paure e fragilità, a godere del profumo dei fiori in camera, del cielo che è a due passi da noi, di una bella serata trascorsa a chiacchierare con gli amici fuori a un locale. Solo così forse, dopo aver fatto un giro immenso, le nostre due vite potrebbero ritrovarsi e restuirci la serenità interiore, permettendoci finalmente di dormire.
Un testo importante, per niente banale a cui l’estensione vocale e il pathos interpretativo di Mengoni aggiungono forza e intensità irresistibili
