- "Open House" with Angela Rippon interviewing Kirsty MacColl in 2000, with studio live performance of "England 2 Colombia 0" with (some of) her "Tropical Brainstorm" touring band.
A class act, and a huge loss. Rest In Peace, Kirsty.
IN MY COUNTRY, SOME PEOPLE KNOW HER....may she rest in peace, Kirsty....GREETINGS FROM ARGENTINA
A very beautiful lady. Loved her and her music from the start. Such a sad and tragic end. I don't think there's a current female vocalist out there that could lace her boots. You may be gone Kirsty but your music is your legacy.
What a great talent and singer she never received the respect she deserves as a musician and great singer songwriter. She deserves more recognition and respect for her work and dedication to her work. She was a beautiful humble woman and great mother.may she rest in peace. We lost a gem.
She did, She was highly regarded in the music papers and her albums were critically acclaimed. However some of her songs should of been huge, Caroline, In these shoes, Freeworld for example.
Shane is singing with her once again. R. I.P.
not long ago i had to have my old truck towed, and the wrecker driver was from Cuba, so i played her music for him, and he loved it! we had a wonderful time......great musicians never die.......or fade.
Oh that moment......"Will we have to wait 4 years for another album?".......I have to say it hit me.😥
Yeah, I felt that question right in the gut.
I love kirsty macoll
It's a lovely interview. A bit of research tells me this was recorded on 25th April 2000. Kirsty was killed on 18th December 2000, less than 9 months later.
sadly yes
I need a song or two from Kirsty just so as not too forget her. RIP Kirsty.
And what a sad day that was god bless her i was all ways a fan still playing her stuff
that's actually less than 8 months.
Mr inch still miss's you
I jumped here from Donny B Macleod doing a pretty shit job of interviewing her and it’s refreshing to see Angela being so utterly passionate and giving her lots of space to talk. RIP Kirsty ❤️
She's a amazing woman 🏴👍
Nice job Angela, you treat people with kindness.
Loved this never hear Kirsty McColl chat before.❤⚘️
Her father began a lifelong pleasure of global folk music for me. 🎻🪕
RIP Kirsty 😢
Thanks for all the clips today. 20 years next month :(
will we have to,wait 4 years for the next Album...wow.....that sort of hit me a bit
Ugghhhhh. I miss her
Powerful lady
Fair play to you Kirsty.
A nice interview
In these shoes 👞 😍
God bless you 🙏 ❤ 🙌 ♥ 😘
Justice for kirsty x 🙏
Sadly there will never be justice for Kirsty. Her mum gave up fighting back in 2009 as Carlos González Nova who eyewitnesses said was driving the boat that killed Kirsty died. It's so fucked up, just another case of the rich and powerful getting away with it.
Accidents happen.
@@andrefarnham4435Recklessness is not an accident.
Hi from Liverpool and Cuba 🇨🇺
So honest - so open...and sadly this was the last album - I love it still - so clever so cool so uplifting...
Kirsty MacColl is the only person I have heard singing Fairy Tale of New York, who holds her own with Shane. She has the confidence, the voice and the stance so when I hear this song without Kirsty, it is disappointing.
RIP kirsty maccoll
It upsets me watching performances or interviews taking place in 2000 as that is the year she was killed, or should I say murdered.
I remember running to get on a Virgin flight from NY and made it within seconds, flopped down exhausted and realised I was sitting next Angela Rippon who turned out to be a genuine fan. She knew Kite really well and kept saying 'don't come the cowboy with me'.. Bizarre, but at least we got a tele. Miss the devine Miss M ringing my mobile and saying 'come for lunch, I've got a new song'
"Kite"??
Sorry, but I smell BS here...
@@andrefarnham4435 better change your undies then mate.🤢🤣
@@andrefarnham4435 nice comment…
Ahhh big loss to the world❤
Revenge songs 🎵
i miss her dearly. sadly, she is underappreciated, except by music's true fans. beautiful, talented, but sadly misunderstood.
RIP Kirsty the same year she died
What?
@@edmundpower1250 think
I hope her family find justice
Unfortunately witnesses said that Carlos Gonzalez Nova was in control of the boat, and the campaign had to be ended when he died in 2009.
Fairytale OF New York, Angela...not IN
🙈
So sad that the cultures she loved and embraced ended up turning their backs on her with a total cover-up with the investigation of her death.
seems like live singing but the rest on 'tracks'../?
I loved her songs... to hear of her fascination and rosy view of communism though is extremely disappointing. Now I've just read that her father was a hardcore communist. Not cool at all. Still sorry she was killed though. Very sad.
i like to sit in the middle, politics is a dodgy subject, music is my interest
She wasn't responsible for her father's political beliefs.
@@TDM1165 She was a straight up communist. What you are describing is communism. Railing against "the selfish vulgarity of capitalist excess" is pure communist propaganda. It's trash. It's a shame that this is what she was pushing.
It is cool.
You sound like a Yank ???
Maybe if she had stayed away from that area of the world she would still be here. Obviously people in that area of the world don't care about human life and taking responsibility for their actions.
So you're implying that it was her fault because it definitely wasn't she was on holiday scuba diving with her sons probably enjoying herself it's was the drivers fault if they weren't in that area where speedboats weren't allowed it wouldn't have happened she died saving her son she died a hero
0.17 - "Fairytale IN New York" - Cringe!!! God, these hanger-on presenters of the 80s were still better than today's shite!
RIP Kirsty
