In a sense she is like every Natlan character. Locked to her region because of a narrative decision. If Sethos moved to Aaru village instead of the academia them you could get her outside Sumeru but for now she is effectively region locked.
To be fair, its not like he hasnt left aaru villiage. We saw her in sumeru city during footnotes. So if anything, shes locked to desert adjacent areas, so i wouldnt expect to see her in fontaine or monstadt. But eastern natlan and sumeru are fair game.
They did the two amazing ladies of the Sumeru desert so dirty! I feel like the desert was their "let's see what we can get away with" area. I really should try building my Candace I think I stopped when I got to 60 or so with her. I built her as a charged attack DPS like a hydro HuTao since she has one of the highest polearm normal/charged attack multipliers but then Xianyun was released and now I use her as a plunge DPS and never looked back.
I went for Xianyun C2R1 for Candace as much as for herself. Hitting over 300k Candace vape plunge several months ago (bounty bonus, no Bennett, no Furina, no Kazuha, no food) was nice, now I'm waiting to see what she can do with C6 Mavuika. I love plunge, but I love her NA chain too much to give it up entirely.
I'm so sad that they did her dirty. I really love her design as well, and her personality. Maybe someday I'll get my account to the point where I'd build her, but with limited resources she still sits at level 20 for the standard wish reward. That day when I catch up on builds tho, I'll know where to come for information!
yeah, I don't regret building her (I build everyone), but I do slightly regret ascending her past 80 because 1. she doens't need in in the teams I do choose to use her in and 2. I could really do with those big gems right now 💀
I've found Candace to work REALLY well with Mualani. She requires Xiangling over Dehya to get enough Pyro to cleanse Candace's Hydro application between Mualani hits, but her C6 always applies Hydro AFTER Mualani does in a very controllable manner, so she doesn't steal Mualani's vapes. Mualani+Candace+Xiangling+Xilonen is a really, REALLY potent team.

The desert ladies got left out to dry indeed 😥 Candace is absolutely stunning in design, and movement etc. I love how they made her feel different in appearance and demeanor, right away. She feels refined, but her kit, not so much. You nailed some great points as to how/why this is the case, and where it does/doesn't matter. I pulled for the aesthetic personally, which is like 99% of the reason I usually pull lol, but I do wish she had more "oompf" because she certainly strikes me as someone who commands it, and would fight with that authority, and grace. I think that players have created this weird sentiment where most characters are deemed unusable in comparison to units that arent really balanced. Its the Why Take X When i Have Y and its a shame honestly because it means that unless Hoyo falls into the HSR and HI3 issue of Power Creep people will always feel disappointed Personally i like her with Freminet and its really fun but most people will ignore both of them simply because Y character does big numbers But honestly Candace feels like a character who with time be way more fleshed out. The issue with character like Xinque and Yelan is that there so good that they buckle when you add something weird The idea is that everyone normal attacks and everyone needs fast application but i can see hoyo coming up with a unique kit that bunks that idea Im curious to see what the Pryo Archon have going because while everyone thinks she'll just be Benny and XL upgrade it would be funny to see Candace getting more out of it

They prefer slower hydro application, which is why Furina works so well in them. That's why Candace is pretty solid with Clorinde - she spends enough time close to the enemies that Candace's slow splashes of hydro might actually apply Hydro! I bring out Candace anyway just for fun sometimes, but it's definitely disappointing that there's basically no place for her in stronger teams.
Oh I agree, just because she's not "as good" doesnt mean she's "unuseable" by any means, and her kit has a lot of potential but currently in most teams something falls a little short (at least when going against super tough enemies). Th fact that unless you build her to do damage her talents serve no purpose is something that bothers me immensely... It would have been amazing to have her buff go up with talent levels! There would still be situations where you're better off with either yunjin or some other hydro applier (depending on your needs), but she could have had her niche 😔
Dehya and Candace both have a very big kit issue that Hoyoverse should have done better. There's really no doubt in my mind that there was some unconscious bias going on due to their skin color. This is something EroticWalrus touched on, himself being Chinese, that there is an inherent bias towards skin color, and that could be the reason why their kits are just so bad. I don't think this topic should be sugarcoated at all, and bias towards skin color should be called out whenever applicable.
This beautiful desert lady have Meta team rn : Mualani vape. I even argue this duo synergy are on par with all the best duo synergy in Genshin like Furi + Neuvi or Bennet + Oppa. This excellent synergy are possible with Candace second passive. Candace burst give flat 20% NAdmg bonus but we often forget her 2nd passive give extra NAdmg bonus scaled from how high her HP. This buff actually UNCAP. So Hydro resonance give both Candace and Mualani extra HP. Mualani can battery Candace and making her build can focus on HP which in turn give more buff to Mualani. Plus candace skill/burst can make Xilo/Kacina proc Cinder City more easily. Add Xiangling to the mix and this team will bite enemies to oblivion. Sorry im essaying. Let's just say i have been waiting for ages for the rise of most Beautiful lady (In my humble onion) in Genshin. Now she and shark girl are the strongest team in my account and I'm happy 😂😂😂😂

I was looking forward to get my last copy on this banner. I'll still ascend her anyway and try her to see how she feels to me personally, but I'm not as hyped anymore. Personally, I think the biggest insult to injury is how she's just... there, in the middle of a charismatic cast (Sumeru) where almost everyone's gotten events or quests dedicated to them or where they're heavily featured. Poor girl hasn't even gotten a hangout!! I want to get to know her better and see her do something beyond being in the background with Dehya! I desperately want to like her more, to feel her less 2D and static. Crossing fingers so in the upcoming event she does get something cool to do and her free copy isn't just for random reasons!

She is MOTHER, she has that vibe I still remember when she came out she was the first hp scaler i think, i was very stoked since i love hp scaling/ tanky units, me and my in game frnd were having a blast having photoshoots where she would throw the spear and that ganyu idle animation where she would wake up from sleep, it would look like candace is throwing it at ganyu😭 this vid brought a lot of nostalgia and all that desert farming for that red flower......... And yeah i saw someone else comment too shes great on mualanis team where she could hold the petra set where i farmed it with hp for zhongli and it works great on candace, xiangling has the instructor and xilonen with the conder city, with candace its easier to make xilonen react with hydro too Lovely vid❤
Sometimes i can't help but feel like there were underlying reasons for her and dehya being so bad, like their kits feel DESIGNED to fail, like they went out of their way to cripple the kit. At first i figured it was because they were afraid of making subdps/support pyro and hydro characters after the balancing disasters of xingqiu and xiangling but then they go on to make Neuvilette, Furina, and Arlechinno. Those characters are powercreep incarnate for their respective roles ( hydro dupsdps/support, main dps and pyro main dps), so why do they get to be like that while these characters were gimped :/
Candace was one of my characters I got really early game so I used her a lot and even trekked to the sumeru dessert to accend her when I was still in Liyue my team was Jean, Yanfei, Candace and Traveler. She’s really fun to play and will accend her to 80 soon

Not gonna lie, its funny as heck to me to see videos about some characters like Dehya, Kaveh, and in this case Candace, its always something like: "she is a hydro applier but...she is not very good at it." "she is a buffer but...there are better." I always expect the video ending up with a "why are we building this character again?"
For me i build (and play) characters because I like them, and they don't need to be "the best" for me to enjoy them but... it's still a shame when a fun character with an interestng kit concept is left somewhat hobbled for seemingly no reason 😔
I wasnt playing when Candace first released, but when friends shared her images and design I fell in love with her so much. Her character trailer and the music is up in my top 5 for sure. But so far she has eluded me on all banners. I pulled on both Navias and Xilonens banner with her, and never managed to grab a single copy, so the free event Candace this patch will be my first.
If Mavuika ends up being an off field pyro applicator that can keep up to allow Mualani to reliably vape I can see Candace being a really good support for her. Last slot can be Xilonen and you got a powerhouse team. Easily get 40% normal attack damage on Mualani from Candace, hydro resonance, and all the good stuff Xilonen does. I got my hopes up enough I already built my Candace for this role.
Once I tried putting her into a team with Dehya and the closest I got to a fun and high damage team was Candace E vape teams, something like Candace, Dehya, Nahida to keep up burning and EM share and Kazuha for grouping enemies together and damage boost, she can hit quite hard with her E when vaporizing it and building her with crit damage and high EM.
A bit of an odd team that I recently saw a lot of success with was in an Itto/Chiori/Gorou/Candace team. There's probably better ways to do this, but the normal attack elemental buff combined with hydro for crystalize is a lot stronger than I expected. Great timing too, for anyone looking to pull on the current banner.
I finally got one (1) candace when wishing for xilonen. while i'm happy to have her, i don't see myself building her any time soon for all the reasons you mentioned, i've just got better options and my resources needs spending elsewhere for now. i'd like to build her one day, if only to have more variety in my overworld teams.
I use her as driver burgeon, burgeon blast counted as attack. When you hold her skill and burgeom happen, u can follow up with her counter skill. This will count as forward vaporize. I nail 78k per skill. Plus she can parry if enemy doing oneshot attack.
i really like characters that grant elemental infusions like her and c6 benny. i get to play weird characters and use their normal attacks and it feels so fun cuz i'm not supposed to be using na kazuha but i get to anyways 😈 wish it was more practical
Me too! Also chongyun added to that list - he's an essental team mate for me whenever I wann play one fo the many cryo folks as an on field DPS heh. And I did have a bit of fun playing with "c6 furina at home" by granting her hydro infusion with candace hahah 😎
Her buff is really underrated. DMG% is the hardest stat to come by and is usually the biggest determiner of how good a DPS is because of it. 35-40% is huge. Yes, we have alternatives. But they are ALL 5-stars. Furina, Kazuha. She's an amazing unit if you don't have 5 star supports, honestly. I never thought bad of her from the start because to me she was clearly for new players. The fact that you don't have to build talents to get her buff is massive for new players, DMG bonus is massive, she has flexible playstyles. Leak warning. A certain new character will likely work extremely well with Candace, actually, and might make her much better. Electro resonance is really good and helps a lot with energy, and they also give more energy on top. That allows you to build more HP on Candace which buffs her buff and her damage. Something similar happened with Baizhu where he was bad for Aggravate until Sacrificial Jade came out, which allowed you to build damage without compromising his buff/healing. This ONLY worked because of electro resonance and electro's good particle generation allowing you to forgo his massive ER requirements. Electro resonance has long been considered the worst but it's really not; being able to build less ER for characters like Candace, Baizhu, buff them massively. Electrocharged just never has been good before.
Have you tried her with the new Scroll set? That would bring her DMG bonus up to 50%-ish if you trigger a reaction. Which probably makes a difference in how the team feels and opens the route for characters like Hu Tao, Cyno and Sethos that don't scale from ATK.
I haven't, but alas since she'd only be able to trigger the 12% bonus i think it's not much of an upgrade to her current set up... you're right though would be better than noblesse if you want to boost non-attack scaling characters!
I just got Candace together with Xilonen and I will make her into a monster buffer. What happens when Noelle gets buffed by candace, xilonen and furina at the same time? We will see if she is actually weak or not.
@@NottaNotta24042 Uff. Well furina is the integral part in this team. She gives both the most damage buff to everyone else and has the most personal dps after the main dps. Sometimes my furina just deals more damage than my noelle when I don't use noelle properly and that is just fine because her damage is bonkers.
Id suggest pairing her with xilonen now, her res shred and with the natlan set would really make her feel stronger i feel like, and since xilo is also a healer we have enough survivability :)
IMO Candace's kit is fine, the problem is that most Abyss teams are all centered around stacking a bunch of off field effects on the battlefield first then bring a DPS that constantly makes numbers using elemental reactions. Candace was not designed for that playstyle, she needs to stay on field until her ult is up and then baton pass to the next DPS and the rest of the team until she gets back to the field for the next round of beatings.
What sucks the most for me is that they just made her a sort of Sub-Dps/support, even though that field is already oversaturated in the hydro roster. We already have hydro sub-dps's and hydro healers. What we're missing is a hydro tank. Candace could easily fill this role due to her character design alone, with her both being the protector of Aaru village and being the only character in the game to actually hold a physical shield. That second part surprises me most, as since she can't provide defensive utility to her teammates while off-field, she's arguably worse as a tank than Xinqiu. Hoyo had the perfect opportunity to make a Hydro tank, but they didn't, and that really disappoints me because I love Candace's visual design and story.
My Candace is c6 from Xilonen’s banner. I was thinking of a way to use her, since I could find a way to make her work with Arlecchino I guess, but why bother when I also have Xinqiu?
That's exactly it! There are spots in teams for her if you're lacking all the other hydro appliers )and/or Na buffers)... but if you have them, really you'll likely only use her because you lvoe her as a character :/
I really wanted Kuki on that Cyno/Venti banner, but got C6 Candace instead, and still only have C2 Kuki. You definitely got the better end of that deal 😂
Her counter doesn't feel nearly as satisfying as Beidou or Yunjin, is it a smaller hotbox or does that little hop before she slams down her shield ruin the timing & spacing. Her bursts hydro infusion is too short, even with the constellation that extends the duration.
I really like her, so I am using her in arlecchino team where she feels great in this team if you have her C6 which I get in Xilonen banner ^ ^ before that she was always in Nilou team which feels good with yaoyao and recently on Mulani team which I really like her there

Sumeru was my quit moment i genuinely found sumeru to be the biggest boring year of genshin for me

Her character trailer and the music is up in my top 5 for sure. But so far she has eluded me on all banners. I pulled on both Navias and Xilonens banner with her, and never managed to grab a single copy, so the free event Candace this patch will be my first.

For me she works great with arle in aoe since xq and yelan are single target. And she works even better in mual teams with high pyro app
If Mavuika ends up being an off field pyro applicator that can keep up to allow Mualani to reliably vape I can see Candace being a really good support for her. Last slot can be Xilonen and you got a powerhouse team. Easily get 40% normal attack damage on Mualani from Candace, hydro resonance, and all the good stuff Xilonen does. I got my hopes up enough I already built my Candace for this role.
Once I tried putting her into a team with Dehya and the closest I got to a fun and high damage team was Candace E vape teams, something like Candace, Dehya, Nahida to keep up burning and EM share and Kazuha for grouping enemies together and damage boost, she can hit quite hard with her E when vaporizing it and building her with crit damage and high EM.
Im a Dehya main and im also soon a c6 Candace haver. Im really excited to have c6 Candace and build her properly.
A bit of an odd team that I recently saw a lot of success with was in an Itto/Chiori/Gorou/Candace team. There's probably better ways to do this, but the normal attack elemental buff combined with hydro for crystalize is a lot stronger than I expected. Great timing too, for anyone looking to pull on the current banner.
I finally got one (1) candace when wishing for xilonen. while i'm happy to have her, i don't see myself building her any time soon for all the reasons you mentioned, i've just got better options and my resources needs spending elsewhere for now. i'd like to build her one day, if only to have more variety in my overworld teams.
I use her as driver burgeon, burgeon blast counted as attack. When you hold her skill and burgeom happen, u can follow up with her counter skill. This will count as forward vaporize. I nail 78k per skill. Plus she can parry if enemy doing oneshot attack.
she's dark-skinned so there is that... hoyo have to prioritize the chinese beauty standard that the chinese playberbase wants first and foremost.
Im still mad about what they did with Candace and Dehya.
Dehya is still good and not power crept like every main dps.
i fished for her c6 solely so i can make her playable in arlecchino team cause i like her design. 😂

i really like characters that grant elemental infusions like her and c6 benny. i get to play weird characters and use their normal attacks and it feels so fun cuz i'm not supposed to be using na kazuha but i get to anyways 😈

And I did have a bit of fun playing with "c6 furina at home" by granting her hydro infusion with candace hahah 😎

Her buff is really underrated. DMG% is the hardest stat to come by and is usually the biggest determiner of how good a DPS is because of it. 35-40% is huge. Yes, we have alternatives. But they are ALL 5-stars. Furina, Kazuha. She's an amazing unit if you don't have 5 star supports, honestly. I never thought bad of her from the start because to me she was clearly for new players. The fact that you don't have to build talents to get her buff is massive for new players, DMG bonus is massive, she has flexible playstyles.

A certain new character will likely work extremely well with Candace, actually, and might make her much better. Electro resonance is really good and helps a lot with energy, and they also give more energy on top. That allows you to build more HP on Candace which buffs her buff and her damage.
Something similar happened with Baizhu where he was bad for Aggravate until Sacrificial Jade came out, which allowed you to build damage without compromising his buff/healing. This ONLY worked because of electro resonance and electro's good particle generation allowing you to forgo his massive ER requirements.
Electro resonance has long been considered the worst but it's really not; being able to build less ER for characters like Candace, Baizhu, buff them massively. Electrocharged just never has been good before.
At the very least she needs her cooldown on the skill, increase the burst's duration and be able to trigger the hydro damage when switching 6 times.
Have you tried her with the new Scroll set?
That would bring her DMG bonus up to 50%-ish if you trigger a reaction. Which probably makes a difference in how the team feels and opens the route for characters like Hu Tao, Cyno and Sethos that don't scale from ATK.
I haven't, but alas since she'd only be able to trigger the 12% bonus i think it's not much of an upgrade to her current set up... you're right though would be better than noblesse if you want to boost non-attack scaling characters!

I just got Candace together with Xilonen and I will make her into a monster buffer. What happens when Noelle gets buffed by candace, xilonen and furina at the same time? We will see if she is actually weak or not.

@@NottaNotta24042 Uff. Well furina is the integral part in this team. She gives both the most damage buff to everyone else and has the most personal dps after the main dps. Sometimes my furina just deals more damage than my noelle when I don't use noelle properly and that is just fine because her damage is bonkers.
Id suggest pairing her with xilonen now, her res shred and with the natlan set would really make her feel stronger i feel like, and since xilo is also a healer we have enough survivability :)
IMO Candace's kit is fine, the problem is that most Abyss teams are all centered around stacking a bunch of off field effects on the battlefield first then bring a DPS that constantly makes numbers using elemental reactions. Candace was not designed for that playstyle, she needs to stay on field until her ult is up and then baton pass to the next DPS and the rest of the team until she gets back to the field for the next round of beatings.
What sucks the most for me is that they just made her a sort of Sub-Dps/support, even though that field is already oversaturated in the hydro roster. We already have hydro sub-dps's and hydro healers. What we're missing is a hydro tank. Candace could easily fill this role due to her character design alone, with her both being the protector of Aaru village and being the only character in the game to actually hold a physical shield. That second part surprises me most, as since she can't provide defensive utility to her teammates while off-field, she's arguably worse as a tank than Xinqiu. Hoyo had the perfect opportunity to make a Hydro tank, but they didn't, and that really disappoints me because I love Candace's visual design and story.

That's exactly it! There are spots in teams for her if you're lacking all the other hydro appliers )and/or Na buffers)... but if you have them, really you'll likely only use her because you lvoe her as a character :/
I really wanted Kuki on that Cyno/Venti banner, but got C6 Candace instead, and still only have C2 Kuki. You definitely got the better end of that deal 😂
Well atleast C6 Candace works with Arlechino (and can be better than other hydro characters in AOE situations)

Her counter doesn't feel nearly as satisfying as Beidou or Yunjin, is it a smaller hotbox or does that little hop before she slams down her shield ruin the timing & spacing. Her bursts hydro infusion is too short, even with the constellation that extends the duration.
she works great for xingqiu hypercarry too. XQ is better than a lot of 5*, and his team is great even if off meta
I really like her, so I am using her in arlecchino team where she feels great in this team if you have her C6 which I get in Xilonen banner ^ ^
before that she was always in Nilou team which feels good with yaoyao and recently on Mulani team which I really like her there
