- India is the world’s biggest democracy and also has one of the biggest media landscapes. But some critics say there has been an illusion of choice. Politically the opposition is not on a level playing field and mainstream media are accused of being mouthpieces of the government. We speak to journalist Smita Sharma and Saurabh Shukla, co-founder of The Red Mike, an independent media outlet with more than half a million followers on RUclips.

It's good to here the Internet is helping India maintain a modicum of reporting the truth. In America, the Internet is aiding in the melting of what is the truth.
I mean internet media also have their bias, you can look at france 24 and will find out that they only show one sided news, and a lot of times they won't even invite the other side person to put their own views. So relying on interent for the truth is very funny.
Because of the internet we lost all the Democratic values during the last 10 years in India. Meta owned social media platforms played a crucial role to bring down the position of India in democracy index 41st in 2014 fell down to 71st in 2024.
