I live in a blended family. I have a step mom and sisters. I have the two best sisters! They don’t care that I’m disabled. I don’t know what I would do without my sisters and my brother. I was raised by my mom, aunt, and my Nana. I may not be in a traditional family, but it works for me. I loved being raised by my my mom,aunt,and Nana. They taught me how important family is. I love my blended and non traditional family. JD Vance and Trump are so horrible talking about families like mine!

They tried to have a baby together but given her age (42) my mother miscarried and (yes, Republican idiots) had a D&C -- so she survived (in 1958 in Canada). They watched my step-brother's illness put him in a wheelchair long before the days of elevators, ramps and handicapped access to pretty much anywhere. My sis and I are very different personalities but we've come together having been sisters now for over 65 years. *Don't tell me that's not as good a family as if all of us had sprung from the same biological pairing.* It was hard, but there was love and care and my parents got us through the tough times. They are both long gone now, but I stand up for *all* step-families, and adoptive families, and caring foster families as well as biological families. I'm now at retirement age....the neighborhood children come over to say "hello", and help in my garden. I remember their birthdays. I include them in my holiday celebrations. A couple of them come to Church with me every so often. It's all about respect, and kindness. One does not need to be biologically related to have a family.

My mother was widowed when she was expecting me (her only child). When I was almost 5, she remarried - a divorced man with 2 children of his own, one of whom had muscular dystrophy. It was a tough go for them and for us -- trying to become siblings and relate well at 5, 4 and 10 years of age. My parents had to try to nurture us as a unit. They tried to have a baby together but given her age (42) my mother miscarried and (yes, Republican idiots) had a D&C -- so she survived (in 1958 in Canada). They watched my step-brother's illness put him in a wheelchair long before the days of elevators, ramps and handicapped access to pretty much anywhere. My sis and I are very different personalities but we've come together having been sisters now for over 65 years. *Don't tell me that's not as good a family as if all of us had sprung from the same biological pairing.* It was hard, but there was love and care and my parents got us through the tough times. They are both long gone now, but I stand up for *all* step-families, and adoptive families, and caring foster families as well as biological families. DJT and his narrow-minded, bigotted, misogynistic ilk should *never* be able to be anywhere near any sort of governmental power. Ever. I am watching from Canada, praying and hoping for the return to sanity of our closest neighbour, ally and trading partner -- even if you forget we're here most of the time. Some of the Trump infection has come north of the border, and it's going to be hard to rid our country of that threat.
I think I can speak for a lot of Americans to say that I deeply appreciate the good wishes of all the folks from other countries who are posting their interest and concern for the US. It's scary right now for a lot of us Americans. Thank you for your hopes and prayers.
