    Almost bot a 65U8K but the price went up. So planning to wait for the N and either buy it or a discounted K. I'm interested in what is better than the K. Is the sound system better? Ironically the U7 I believe has a larger "subwoofer" but the U8 supposedly has better sound. I think the 7 was 40w and the 8 was 50w. PEDESTAL STAND????!!!!!!! Anti reflective screen?
    But I confess, I might go projector. The thought of a 75,85,100 while would be cool, is just too big a lummox. Maybe even stick with a 55 since 55 vs 65 is almost not worth mentioning. If I want to go bigger, then projector. Probably Laser and probably long throw.
    NextGen ATSC 3.0 w/DRM encryption is a BIG DEAL for me. Right now at the box stores only Hisense U7 and U8 have it and only the Samsung OLED. LG will not have 3.0 until the GE OLEDs which ae starting to show up. I expect TCL to get on the bandwagon too. At some point, 3.0 will be in every TV. It's sad how long that has taken but that is because of the DRM nonsense.

    I’m looking forward to trying a 75” U8N this year. I tried the U8K last year, but it didn’t live up to my expectations for the price I paid, so I returned it. It’s going to be torture waiting until Black Friday for a decent price drop, tho. Ugh. The U8N demo video seemed to suggest the TV has upward firing speakers in the back for Dolby Atmos instead of the side-firing speakers on the U8K. Can you confirm this?

    • @Josh_Quinonez
      @Josh_Quinonez  5 месяцев назад +1

      I've shared all the information that was shared with me. We will be hearing more around March time. But it does seem that way for the speaker system.

    • @Kuranghi
      @Kuranghi 5 месяцев назад +1

      Mind sharing what let you down with the U8K?
      Btw, in the UK/Europe the U8K had up-firing speakers so its possible they've now gone with that design for the US U8N this year. I often convert Samsung Neo QLED sales to U8K based mostly on sound.
      I can confirm the UK U8K sounds excellent in part due to the 2x 5W speakers, when I demo it vs. the UK U7K (which has speakers on paper that are same except for the up-firing speakers) 90/100 customers say it sounds noticeably better. Better separation of instruments in music, clearer dialogue and a bit better bass.

    • @suedepup
      @suedepup 5 месяцев назад +1

      Ah, yes, I did notice the UK had a different speaker configuration on the U8K. The US U8K on-board audio still sounded great to me with clear separation. My main complaint with the 75" U8K with ADS Pro panel was lifted black levels in certain content and an overall dim picture when watching HDR 10 content. If you put on an HDR demo video with plenty of bright specular highlights, everything looked great, but with normal HDR 10 media content without highlights being forced down your throat everything was way too dark as far as an average picture level. It may be an ADS Pro issue, but I needed a 75" TV and that was the only panel offered in that size. I also had issues with the local dimming where white backgrounds meeting a darker color would result in a nicotine yellow stain color near the border. For an example, I was watching a snow scene in the arctic during one movie and the white snow when it met the letterbox bars at the top and bottom were yellowish. You would also see the discoloration near the edges during a blooming/local dimming test video. So this algorithm needs to be improved. I reported all issues to Hisense and I was told a software update was going to be issued within 72 hours to address these concerns, but weeks went by and I never got an update so I returned to the TV. I can't have issues like that on a TV I spent over $1000 for. I'm hoping the U8N fixes all these issues.

    • @Kuranghi
      @Kuranghi 5 месяцев назад +2

       @suedepup Got ya. I agree on all counts, I sell the U8K daily and I have a 65" and 75" side-by-side with each other, the 65" is even raised up on a pedestal so its a very fair comparison for blooming.
      The same content on both at the exact same settings shows more shadow detail and more saturation in bright colours on the 65" even in stupid OTT retail mode settings, let alone accurate settings.
      The yellowish inverse ghosting you speak of I haven't seen in actual content myself (except the standard dimming zone test, where I see it on the circle when it gains speed) but I've seen a few people mention like yourself and there was a picture of it happening in a B&W film on the Hisense subreddit.
      I'd guess not only is the panel different but the dimming algorithm is tuned differently on the 75" U8K vs. the other sizes to avoid having extra blooming in scenes with no truly black areas but high intra-frame contrast (ie most content).
      The bleating online about the ADS Pro panel being "just as good" as the 65" U8K VA panel is wishful thinking at best. Blooming is definitely worse at an angle, I'd take the VA panel's contrast + poorer viewing angle over the 75" any day and would recommend as much. Its quite frustrating there is a misconception online because then people buy it expecting OLED-esque viewing angles + VA contrast and get neither.
      I think its better than almost any other VA I've seen, its as good as Sony's models that have a VA panel but their X-Wide Angle tech which reduces the native contrast to somewhere between the ADS Pro native contrast (without a viewing angle filter) and a poor VA panel, but I still dislike it vs. a great VA panel.
      The X95L has the above in 65 & 75" in the UK so I don't consider it a successor to ZD9 as some reviews have said, most of the reviews are for the 85" in the US which doesn't have the X-Wide tech. Vincent Teoh in the UK said the 65" X95L is the best overall picture quality vs. the U8K and QN95C but it still has more blooming/looks more washed out in games, because in the process of preserving the creator's intent it will light up extra zones or make them brighter than the competitors will.
      The way TCL and Samsung crush the shadow detail to nothing is rubbish imo, the Hisense is washed in some challenging dark scenes vs. them, but they have double the zone count and its usually closer to the Sony in accuracy overall.
      Phew thats a rant ha.
      On the bright side I believe its been said the U8N is VA in all sizes this year and definitely has double the zone count in 75" (In FOMO's CES Hisense video, the rep says the "2000+" refers to the 75" size specifically). Worst case its still ADS for the 75" hopefully the increased zone count or improved algorithm will solve the yellow staining and dim highlights you experienced.
      If previews/reviews say the 75U8N is still ADS then probably look at Sony's offerings in 2024, they've said their flagship is a MiniLED this year which is very exciting for me because I'm a 65" ZD9 owner who can't really go above 75", so 85" is a no go, even 75" is pushing it and would require rejigging my setup.

      Wow! Now that's the kind of banter I was hoping to get talking to Hisense when I had the U8K, but you gave me more information about that TV than they ever did. So, thank you for that! Very good info.
      Yes, I'm really hoping the U8N 75 inch is a VA panel. I'm also waiting for the Sony 2024 line-up announcement. But I've also added the TCL QM851G and the LG QNED90T to my 2024 shortlist as well. May the best 75" TV with the most price to performance ratio win, and I hope to see it in my living room before the year ends.

      Thats an insane price for it, even here in the UK where its usually towards the top end of European prices it wasn't that much at launch, it was £1500, or about €1750.
      Sounds like you bought the TV the week/month it came out. Its currently £889, but was £749 on Black Friday with promo codes. Even today the 65" X90L is £1499, let alone RRP of near £2000.
      The 65" U7K isnt't a bad choice vs. X90L, the overall accuracy of image on the X90L is better sure, but I'd say dark scenes are better overall on the U7K just by it having around 4x the zone count.
      Next time make sure to buy your TV on Black Friday, Boxing Day/January or April/May, ie clearance. I'm sure if you had gone into the shop on Black Friday and saw the 65" U7K next to the X90L you'd probably still buy the U7K given the massive price difference.
      Unless maybe all this pricing only applies to the UK and the price of Hisense is similar to or even more than the Sony, in which case Id' buy the Sony.

    Until Hisense insists on using its own OS in its TVs sold in Europe, called VIDAA, I will continue to not purchase, or even advising purchase to friends and family, of Hisense TVs.
    Its OS is slow, even slower over time, and lacks support for several important applications - especially, but not limited, to the OS not being a Global solution.
    Until there, we have plenty of options to choose from.
