  • Colle della Fauniera is one of the most beautiful mountain passes in Italy. It is also known as Colle dei Morti or Pass of the Dead. It has three approaches. On paper, the climb from Ponte Marmora is the easiest approach, but the gradients make this climb very hard, not only are they changing all the time, but sometimes the gradients will exceed 20 percent. On top of this, the road is very narrow and in a terrible state. This could be the reason you will see more mountain bikers than roadies on this approach. Nevertheless, it is a very beautiful climb, and it has very little motorized traffic. As you climb, you can almost see the season change. The higher you get the more beautiful red and yellow autumn colors you can enjoy. Close to the top, it is also like the mountain is on fire. On your way, you also get to do the mountain pass Colle d'Esischie. As you reach Colle Fauniera, you reach one of the most beautiful mountain passes in cycling. In fact, it is so beautiful that it is worth doing all three approaches.
In this ride-along video, you ride at the speed of an elite rider. If you want to ride at your own speed, please look below for more information on our indoor cycling app Open Road.

Take your indoor cycling to the next level with our indoor cycling app Open Road:
Dive into an immersive indoor cycling experience with our training app ’Open Road’ for Windows. Just add music:
Most cyclists would agree that the ride to Col du Tourmalet is outstanding. But with music, opinions are very mixed. So we have added no music. Instead, we recommend adding your favorite music to the ride. It is quite simple. Mute RUclips and open a browser window. Find a site that offers music (Spotify, RUclips, etc…) and pick the music you like, and enjoy the ride... We have left the original sound of the ride out. This is because the noise from passing cars, vibrations from the road, wind, and the rider's breathing drowns the natural sound of the surroundings.
