- Welcome to the valleys Maira, Stura and Varaita - and to the breathtaking mountain passes, ridge roads and old military trails, that connect this region in the Italien Piedmont region.
If someone would ask me, where paradise is, I would answer, that paradise must be a place in the mountains. Not because you are closer to the sky, and closer to heaven, but because paradise can only be, where your heart beats a bit louder from excitment and astonishment.
Let me take you to a place, that made my heart sing from joy, to some of the most beautiful valleys of the alps, to the most stunning roads that you could imagine to travel on a motorcycle - and one of the most exciting dirt- and gravelroads in Italy, the Varaita Maira Ridge Road:

With views like that they are no wrong roads. Those cow path roads are great. Done a many a mile of those. Very few autos or people. Many here in the eastern mountains of US with beautiful views. But there are only one set of Alps. Much enjoyed.

TP is really a wise guy. The last pass, road, valley, etc. is ever the best. I´ll see it with my own eyes and yes, it is! Holy shit, Varaita Maira is absolute f***ing bad. ( I believe i´d choosen it too 😀) You deserved the biggest beer, for your work. BTW, you never have wrong choises during a ride on the bike inside the alps. Thxi for this great episode 😙

Your trip inspired me and a friend to cross the French-Italian border at the Col de la Lombarde. After Demonte we went on to the Colle Fauniera, had our lunch in Marmora, on to Col d’Sampeyre. After that we went back to France crossend the border at the Colle Dell’Angello. Thanks for making everyone part of your travels. Stay save.

It was fun to watch this episode again. I'm jealous of your travel partner because he gets to experience all that with you. I know the dolomites but this region is or from today was an unknown region. Another motorcycle destination for the future.
I have not yet finished this episode but I want to comment about your introduction. Your words made me think of an old song by Three Dog Night, "Shambala". You and "Travel Partner" are hitting some very sweet spots.
Finally finished the episode. Short on dialog long on riding. Who is the mystery man known as "Travel Partner"? Sooner than later you will need to reveal yourself before the paparazzi get on the hunt to find you and make up stories. The scenery on this episode seemed to go on and on with raw natural beauty. Your drone work gives it all perspective. Nicely done.
