woozi wog - thanks for appreciating my dance videos. In beginning 0:18 I dance same figure that is Natural Spin Turn but slightly overturned and continue with Turning Lock to Right to PP. This is showed here 4:02 Natural Spin Turn (123 123), Turning Lock to PP (1&23), Chasse from PP (12&3). Hope it helps. Egils
Eglis, vielen Dank für das vorbildliche Lehren! Du bist eine große Hilfe für alle Tänzer. Herzliche Grüße aus München, Deutschland Eglis, thank you very much for the exemplary teaching! You are a great help to all dancers. Kind regards from Munich, Germany
thank you Egils. It's very helpful for me because soon is my wedding and I can dance excellent watching your lesson. we must pay so much money for dance lesson in our Armenia... thank you
Excelente Egils, eres muy buen profesor, muy buena didactica y todo va muy bien en tu enseñanza, yo ya conocia esas rutinas pero tu forma de explicar es tan sencilla que lo que parece dificil lo haces muy facil. Muchas gracias
Eglis, your dancing is superb and your detailed instructions are excellent. The one thing I could not determine was the step count you were using when you were turning inside the box at the 0:18 second part of your instruction. It does not appear to be the same steps as you show further on in the video. Am I missing something? Thank you
+woozi wog : maybe I can help. (Egils is very good on answering, he may have missed this one, so by all means ask it again if you need to.) The count for a waltz is Slow-Slow-Slow (1-2-3). There are no Quicks in Waltz normally unless its a timing change like a Chasse from Promenade, then its 1-2 & 3, which is Slow-Quick-Quick-Slow, the Quicks are 1 beat, Slows are 2 beats.
+woozi wog - my answer was not linked to you question, in case you missed: In beginning 0:18 I dance same figure that is Natural Spin Turn but slightly overturned and continue with Turning Lock to Right to PP. Usually Man starts natural turn facing diagonally to wall, 4th step is backing line of dance. Finish of hesitation is facing diagonally to centre. If you dance in corner then less turn on pull step can be made to finish facing diagonally to centre in new line of dance. Hope it helps.
Hi Egils, although I have been doing this figure for a year or two. recently I got commented that I am collapsing and crashing into the 6th step of the natural spin turn. As a result it didn't manage to give the lady enough grounding time for the 4-6 reverse turn. I have been executing it as a gradual down swing with gravity (right foot from 5th step to 1st step of step 4 of reverse turn over the counts "3&1" ). However, by explicitly collecting the foot after the 6th step and lower for the next, the whole entire figure looks feels very robotic. Do you have any good tips to blend the figures together?
Hi Magurosenbei. I suggest to lower your left foot from toe to heel with strong ankle (on count 3, 6th step or Spin Turn) and at same time collect right leg with bent knee. Same moment left heel touches the floor your right foot should pass left foot. Usually mistake is that when left heel is touching the floor right foot is still forward. You can send me your video if you want me to check out what you are really doing.
@@EgilsSmagris Playing it in slow motion it seems like what you have said the left heel touched the floor before right foot passes completely. You can view it here: ruclips.net/video/52q15FfzUSY/видео.html
@@Magurosenbei thanks for your video - I see clearly that your left heel touches floor to early and in this moment your right foot is not moved. Try lower left heel very slowly at same time closing right foot. At end of count 3, feet should be passing each other (not apart).
+ballboy kwan, thanks for your question. Try rock exercise without turn first yourself, then with partner. Then do exercise gradually increasing amount of turn. Then dance all steps on Natural Spin Turn.
Good place to ask this question. I am working to use the spin turn in a competition, and use it at a corner, to move from the long side, line of dance (LOD) to the short side (LOD), so I wish to ask, when starting the spin turn at the end of the long side (LOD) near a corner, which type of spin turn is best. Use the standard spin turn or use the under-turn spin turn or over-turn spin turn? Wondering which is the one that puts me and my partner into the best position to continue moving along the short side (LOD).
In corner I would suggest to dance steps 1-3 with 1/4 turn and then in 4-6 amount of turn depends on following figure. If you want to move back in new line of dance with Turning Lock for example, then use Overturned Spin. If you want to continue with 4-6 of Reverse Tun, then use either Underturned or Standard Spin.
+Francis Desouza thanks for question. Natural means turning to Right. Reverse means turning to Left. In Natural Spin Turn therefore 4 th step is Natural Pivot.
Thank you for your videos, they are excellent. I would like to know if a reverse spin turn is ok starting to left with left foot and following similar but opposite movements of the natural spin turn. Thank you.
Hi Robert, thanks for interesting question. No there isn't exactly opposite reverse figure to Natural Spin. I would suggest you to dance Double Reverse Spin. Here is video about slightly more difficult figure (with overspin) ruclips.net/video/ORG0CGnc1Lo/видео.html. Double Reverse Spin is danced 12&3. Man starts with LF: fwd, side, close without weight. Lady starts with RF: back, close (heel turn), to side, cross in front.
Steps 1-3 are the same as in 1-3 of Natural Turn (obviousely lead here is same as in normal Natural Turn - lowering then swing forward and slight rotation to R). Main lead in 4th step is man's Pivot action which communicates start of active rotation to Lady. Hope that helps.
Excellent instruction.

Giancarlo thanks for appreciating our videos. You’re very welcome!
Irish, I am happy that this explanation helped you to improve Natural Spin Turn :) Thanks for feedback!
Egils Smagris 선생님!
Natural Spin Turn
You are a very good dance teacher. Very clear step by step instructions to practise over and over again until I get it. Thank you.

I was of the impression that step 4 of N spin turn was reverse pivot please clarify for me

What is the lead for the natural spin turn? I as the lead must be able to effectively communicate the desired technique to my partner.

the count for the chaisse at the end should be 1, 2, and 3
David, thanks, thats correct in Lock there should be count 1&23, and in Chasse 12&3
