Mate, you're a bloody life saver. Appreciate your time making this video. Just got the passenger side done on my 01 4Mo Bora in under an hour thanks to you. Cheers
Very good video, everything went smoothly by following these instructions. Special thanks for mentioning the small but crucial details (like the outside handle cable alignment and supporting the window).
One thing this also fixes is the fuel pump primes for a couple seconds when you open the driver's door. Although it seemed to have no impact on it running, it was nice to fix that. Thanks for the video! Mine had also started to not lock without using the key, it was in rough shape haha.
Hi there - I’m reaching out to say thank-you so much for taking the time to make this very helpful video - I followed it & successfully replaced faulty door lock today & everything worked 🥳. Only error I made was completely removing window glass securing bolts rather than just loosening them till glass was removable. Had to take apart again as couldn’t get thread to connect with inner panel mounted - but sorted it out. Very great full - all the important points you made were well considered and appreciated. Cheers

Thanks for the video! My 01 TDI electric door lock hasn't been working for a long time and my car bhas been broken in a few times now. This part is the electronic lock, right?
Do you think likely same issue for me, ie Door Module? In my case, key simply doesn't turn in the lock. I have to open passenger side and reach across to unlatch in morning, push button down from inside to lock at night. Elsewise all good. Tried lubricating lock barrel, no joy.

Hi, I have a mk4 & need to do the rear door actuator, at first it was locking & unblocking but now it is locked and I can't unlock it at all, do you have any suggestions how to get the door open so I can do the job?
You'll have to destroy the door card I'm afraid, you can try bang the door outside under the handle while unlocking the door. That sometimes jogs the motor into action
Hi Rob, I have an issue with my mk4 golf git. The passenger lock wont lock/unlock with the remote central locking. It locks/unlocks fine with the key in the door. Will replacing the door lock module fix my issue do you think? TIA
I'd check the wiring in the door hinge first, inside the large rubber grommet. Could be a split wire, if not yeah I'd change out that module before you can't open the door at all.
@@meatmanifesto thanks Rob for the reply. I will check the wires in the door. You can hear the lock trying to do something in the door when the remote buttons are pressed which makes me think it’s something knackered on the module. Awesome vids though my man!!

Great tutorial. Much better suggestion to leave the window in and tape it rather than fully removing it. And also with just loosening the bolts that fasten the window rather than removing them. Is your new actuator OEM or did you get an ebay version? The cost difference is so high I'm thinking it might the risk with an ebay version worth it.
@@meatmanifesto Received and installed my eBay version. Works just like the original. Perfect advice and solution. Saved me $600 to buy the $30 version off eBay and do it myself. Thank you!
My doors open and close just fine, but two doors have locks that won't lock/unlock with remote or buttons. They have to be manually pushed down or unlocked by using the door handle from inside. Is replacing the actuators the only solution? Thanks!
No worries at all, trouble is leave it too long and you won't be able to open the doors I've had that happen several times. Now I change as soon as they start playing up
Volkswagen said it will cost me £1300 to fix my windows going down on their own on my 2004 golf because needs to replace all door locks and window motors. That seems a bit much for all that to be done seeings as door lock is going for £34 on eBay

Definitely get them done before you start having issues and they become impossible to open, the backs are straight forward enough
Hi sir. When u replace this. Does it need coding to the car or is it plug and play
Plug and play
Nice easy fix, haha, I've replaced engine heads and it was simpler then this i swear
🤣🤣
Any idea why my lock isn't working? I replaced the lock actuator, but now my lock doesn't do anything when I turn my key. It can't lock or unlock.
Hard to diagnose over the internet unfortunately.
Mm I did everything and now my door won’t close it’s not the latch I don’t know what it could be the door look a little hung
Oops, check the latch on the door lines up to the striker pin, there is some room for adjustment on the latch assembly
My doors open and close just fine, but two doors have locks that won't lock/unlock with remote or buttons. They have to be manually pushed down or unlocked by using the door handle from inside. Is replacing the actuators the only solution? Thanks!
