Dave explaing what makes a Plexi a Plexi @39:04 is just... the most awesome thing I heard the last 40 years. I had to smile listening.
That Plex amp is amazing. Nothing else like it. Wish I had one.
Wouldnt a vintage marshall work?
any old Amp and a good old guitar are all you need. to enjoy life
Add a cold drink and your golden.
Dave, I'm so happy that you clearly state that an FX-Loop doesn't make sense in an Amp-Design like "The Plex". I'm always telling that, but no one listens to me... 🤣
High Gain information. This channel never disappoints ⚡️
This is my favorite show!! Thanks for doing this!!!
You two are the best!
The PLEX is a Master piece!!!!✊🏽🇺🇸❤️
It seems like I'm always busy for the show, but I always come back and watch the episode. There is so much great information in this show and the back catalog is crazy good! I can't believe you haven't hit 30k subs yet.
I have an OG Friedman SB 50 watt. It’s seriously one of the best amps I’ve ever owned. Still stock, tubes, everything. Road worn and ready. Multi genre amp too. No limitations 🫡
Dave F IS quite simply put the man plain n simple...he a legend in the audio business...his amps are some of the best of the best in the world !!!!🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟😝💯
Always some pearls with !
Buddy of mine brought over his Phil X head last week. We ran it through two 412s with 8 greenbacks. Best sounding Friedman out there IMHO.
Ya I think I agree , but that’s just from hearing it , not playing through it
Only free swag that I’ve got from NAMM were pens, stickers & catalogs 😊
I made it out clean. I saw you and a bunch of my buddies were at your booth.
What I most admire about Dave is that he knows what you need and what you don't.
As in, if it sounds good , then it is good !
Highlight of NAMM was Dave’s PLEX. Got a spot above my Twin Sister just waiting for its release!
I think that’s a reasonable price for the PLEX. Keep in mind the customer service you get from Dave after the sale. You can’t put a price on that.
Agree with Dave on price of amp in regards to operating costs. A lot of people have no idea what it costs to make a product and pay people to build it, own or rent a building, keep the lights on, pay insurance, advertising, etc. $2,700 isn’t bad at all. Haven’t bought a new amp in years but this one is giving me serious GAS.
Awesome episode! How about a Hiwatt on the vintage line ?
I'm happy you brought it up! Ya get Ozzy from 3 monkeys on here! That would be a great talk
Dear David, great show as always. How does the new Soldano X88IR compare to the old Custom Audio Electronics 3+ SE in your opinion. I found it interesting to hear that channel 1 in the old Soldano Preamp was sort of flat sounding. Thanks and many greetings from Germany. Best, Christian
Man, I’d love to see Dave do a Mick Mara amp 😍
We were around the corner from you guys. And Yep, Donner and and Creme were a bit out of control. We (Mogabi) had a hard time hearing our visitors when they had the volume cranked up.
what Friedman amp would be closest to a Friedman Billy Butterslax signature ... but in a smaller package like 5w, 15w 20w ?
@1:40:15 Dave being very diplomatic. Take the high road Dave. Take the high road.
Will you please send one PLEX to That Pedal Show? Im sure Dan and Mick knows exactly how to showcase such an amp in an interesting way. Even they are not demo/review channel.
How about inviting Larry DiMarzio to the show
What about doing a Hiwatt type amp for the Vintage line?
I think a good compromise for the (don't get mad) FX LOOP issue with plexi-style amps is to at least offer a DI OUT jack. That way you still get the input and preamp gain, then run that signal to an additional clean amp or power amp. But this would require a split and I do not know if that would affect the performance of preamp->power amp in the plexi.
Why no videos of either the Z Wreck module or the Soldano rack preamp? I was shocked to hear that both were functional...yet no demo at all. Strange.
Nope you don't need or want an effects loop in an amp like the Plex, I'm happy Dave stuck to his guns with that!
Personally my first two amps (solid state Peavey combo and hybrid tube pre/solid state power Fender) didn't have effects loops, I just ordered pedals with how they sounded best. My first real tube amp was a JCM900, I tried using the loop for time effects but hated the "corruption" of the power amp, so went back to placing them in front. Still do it today.
I don't get it, the constant amp questions I see everywhere with a lot people - 1. Does it take pedals well? 2. Does it have an FX loop? I'm guessing most of these players have never played a gig either. 😀
I haven't played many gigs but I can say that I used effects once and that was enough. Just the guitar, amp, and amps reverb. That's all I found that I needed.
lots of great guitar and bass players in LHC
Third was Toby Keith.
Ossie is the "Guest"!
what makes a boss so f amazing amp to play through
Howard Stern was great.... in 93.
That’s when I listened
2:09:40 agree
more gain w/silicon.
How about a Vintage Two See Plus :)
I'd like to see a Dave's Vintage Hi-Watt, and a cloned Mick Mars amp!
can you make a silicon instead of acrylic plexiglass
Anti tech Brilliance!!!
Proto 2..... Marc's face was priceless.
Marshall plexi 50 watt reissues have fx loops, wel the newer ones, I have a older one a 1998, no fx loop, and I have a 2021 year head that does have fx loop, but I don't use it ( laughs) but I did have master vol. installed in the channel 2 low sensitivity input jack, which now has the master vol. knob. any way they sound great!
how much does a used or new power station costs - jus' wondering ?
$600
Dave loves using words like "perplex" because it has plex in it.
nothing sounds like a marshal why the secret
I don't get all these loop questions? If it's an active loop, or buffered loop with it's own tube, they work great. I wouldn't buy a new amp without one. I always use the loop at any volume. The Marshall DSL loop works great. Send out to a Hush, then a BBE, then a couple different rack mount multi effects units then to a rack mixer then back to the return of the Marshall.
Does the Plex DJENT??
What happened with iconic guitars?
People seem confused on the Gibson lawsuit thing... they're suing to invalidate the double creme and PAF trademarks so that anybody can use them. That's not a bad thing.
I'm pretty sure Larry Dimarzio owns the patent to double cream pickup bezels...
@@dwayneanderson7108 yes, Gibson is suing DiMarzio to invalidate the trademark so anyone can make them...
Im just a nobody
Kevin Leary or Kevin O'Leary ?
Not everyone wants the FX Loop for Modulation (which I agree, I wouldn't want if the loop sounded bad). Some of us would like to use it for a volume / boost, for solos ? That would have been fine right? Get a Power Station? They cost as much as another amp. Sorry to be 'crying' about it, just trying to understand. Footswitchable dual master would have been cool.
Exactly! Always use a loop for volume / solo boosts. I have the Smallbox 50 and will stick with that. My favorite amp of all time 🤘
I can tell you that the Power Station is worth every penny.
The 3rd one is Toby Keith :(
Yamaha is underrated.
get some sleep, Dave
If you put a Yamaha speaker in your product or team up w/them, you will come up big time.
silicon will minimize the all the buzz
yamaha is the best sounding guitar no bs for the momey
i let my guitar do the f talking.
